  1. I agree that it would be silly but what would be "sick" about it? They're not related and it isn't as if Eric draws a line at getting involved with his employees or exes of his relatives. I get that age is just a number and you're only as old as the woman you feel, etc. etc., but there's a limit to everything and I too would be a little unsettled with a serious Maya/Eric fling. Donna only just makes the "half your age plus seven" cut off for Eric at 45 (based off JMC's real age of 70 - Eric is older); Karla Mosely is 33. But I doubt this is a direction TPTB will seriously go in - age aside, Blind Fred can see Maya's obvious and transparent behaviour, and as dumb as Eric can be sometimes I don't think he'd be as silly to properly pursue this avenue, particularly when he's been reluctant to re-enter a relationship with Donna who actually loves him. But I have been proven wrong in the past, so I guess buckle your seatbelts? Pun intended. yeah. I watched yesterday with someone who doesn't understand why I'm always rooting for $Bill instead of Ridge the Awful. She used to watch AMC. I guess she thinks he's still Zach. Personally I can't hate a guy who answers a Twitter Q&A question asking who the better kisser is, KKL or Heather Tom, with "Bill". Where Thorsten Kaye lacks in a hygiene regime he makes up with a wicked sense of humour.
  2. Oh my gosh. I was dead whenever Maya piped up to kiss Eric's butt (and Ivy, too, for good measure). What made it best was cutting between Oliver's and Carter's expressions. Only Caroline's presence would have made it better. LG can pull some pretty spectacular faces. Amen to that - LG must've gone on maternity leave at this point because Caroline would have been in that meeting too. I went back and watched the episode again and even Eric side-eyes Maya at one point - does he know there's trouble in paradise? (Probably not). If this not-too-subtle weaseling continues I hope Eric pulls her up on it and doesn't do anything stupid like get involved - when I said I would like for Eric to have a proper story of his own, this wasn't really what I meant. Oh also, the other thing I noticed today was Ivy asking about Othello's music - is anyone else getting Mary Sue vibes from her, or is it just me? I really want to like her but if this is the direction she's going to go in I don't know if I'm going to be able to shake off my Tall Poppy Syndrome.
  3. Erya? Maric? Whichever way you spin it, Maya's thirst for a roll in the snow is officially off the charts. And this is coming from me, President of the Eric Forrester Lonely Hearts Club™! It's too bad Donna wasn't invited to this executive meeting, I would have enjoyed a bit of weave-snatching. Sugarbaker, you crack me up. Just a stab in the dark, but I'd say the reason was Hope. From what I've seen on Twitter, most fans who like Thorsten Kaye as Ridge a) love TK anyway, and/or b) are Kridge fans. I follow a few Kridge fan accounts (for the daily TK pictures - I'm shallow and I don't care who knows it) and the sentiment that comes across is that they truly believe Katie & Ridge are star-crossed lovers who will ultimately triumph over the morally corrupt Brill. Those who are Bridge fans primarily want the return of Ronn Moss and spend most of their time posting old pictures of RM/KKL; there doesn't seem to be any voices advocating KKL with TK. But that's only a pocket of fandom - I'm really only on Twitter to stalk the actors, and I come here to discuss the show in-depth. I do this too (try to imagine RM playing a TK scene), and in my head it's always awkward. I'd say it's a clash of motivations - TPTB want to make NuRidge exactly that, and I would imagine TK wants to play the role differently to his predecesor (which is fair enough - no one likes an imitation), but at the same time, Ridge's history and previous character traits are being ignored in favour of the new direction and it is obviously alienating fans who are not willing to completely suspend their disbelief to follow it. I enjoy watching TK and Don Diamont get agro at each other and battle it out both with words and fists (again because I'm shallow), but I do agree that it's inconsistent and the overall story suffers for it, for reasons that have been eloquently and thoroughly explained above. I doubt TPTB are going to get rid of TK in a hurry because he has brought his fans across from AMC/OLTL, or wherever it was he came from. (The gutter?) RuntheTable, I'm going to see his show in Melbourne in November - I'm not really an RM fan but I didn't want to get FOMO! I promise I'll report back with all the goss. I'm hoping to get a photo but chances are if he does a photo-op he'll get swamped by crazy old ladies and I won't get a look-in.
  4. Guys, I just want us all to take a moment and acknowledge the fact that there's an Australian on B&B now. When she opened her mouth and spoke for the first time my little Aussie heart just swelled with patriotic pride. And then she said "Lemon Baahs" and I fell in love completely. Chookas, Ashleigh Brewer! I hope Ivy kicks ass and takes names for a long time to come. Hope already hates her for no good reason so that just makes my day. And I'm glad to see Asshole Bill Spencer is back in town. I liked him calling Ridge "Smidge". And that scene at the end was good too, great editing between Ridge meditating and what he was seeing in his head. I couldn't help but notice, though, that that whole speech from Katie was lifted from a speech Stephanie gave Eric when he was blinded 20-odd years ago (only because I'd only just recapped that scene for my fansite a couple of days ago); she said the same things about seeing all the beautiful dresses and his children and his family and blah blah. Stephanie did it better, of course. Spoilers from SNS for 7/21:
  5. His mouth? I was thinking of a different part of his body altogether. Good morning!
  6. I love it when Brooke calls Eric "Mr. Smooth". Stephanie used to call him that too. A little ironic, though, given his big mouth would often land him in hot water. Having a bit of difficulty inserting plug A into socket B? Perhaps Ridge should borrow Bill's Katie Logan Spencer instruction manual. You're welcome, takeittotheBanks. I miss SF too. During Ridge's FC coup a few months ago it was suggested by a few characters that Carter was Ridge's right-hand man, and more recently Carter was talking about missing his squash games with Ridge, but there's never been any on-screen 1-on-1 interaction between them. Which is a real shame. I want to see conspirators conspiring on-screen! Preferably shirtless! She's one of my fave characters actually. I love her so witty and sassy and business minded unlike some of the other feather head characters. Can I join this club? I came into the show around the time of Caroline's meddling with Rafael & Room 8 and instantly thought she was fantastic fun in comparison to the Brooke/Bill/Katie fiasco counterbalancing the show at the time. His last wedding was to Steffy. His last successful wedding was to Steffy; the last attempted wedding was to Hope.
  7. Given that he had difficulty tying his tie (but could remember tying someone else's?) I put it down to loss of fine motor skills, but I like #1 as a plot contrivance as well, and I would rather that be the driving force of the character for the next however long it's going to take him to return to "normal" than anything resembling a Logan sister, simply for the sake of variety. So we all know that won't happen. ETA also, I keep seeing around the place people pointing out that Ridge is/was left-handed, so there's that too.
  8. Eric and Brooke and Eric and Ridge and Eric and Caroline and puppies and rainbows and sunshine! Nothing's going to rain on my parade today!! Me too. Being a relatively new viewer I can't confirm this, but it seems to me like JMC & TK are a lot more touchy-feely in their scenes together than when RM was Ridge. Is this a conscious acting choice or is it storyline/character driven? Ridge was often a thorn (sorry) in Eric's side for many reasons, mostly Brooke-related early on, despite being the favoured son. Maybe with NuRidge there's a rebirth of their relationship and Eric doesn't take anything for granted anymore, etc etc?? Perhaps I'm overthinking it but it's definitely something I have noticed since TK came into the role. Or perhaps it's just perverted old me enjoying a bit of manhandling. Co-signing. Just because Queen Stephanie employed this vernacular on the regular does not condone its usage and in fact should serve as a reminder of how graceless and crude one becomes when saying it. You can't go around calling your CEO a whore in front of employees! Speaking of Stephanie (again), B&B writer Adam Dusevoir tweeted a picture of him and Susan Flannery earlier today, the lucky duck.
  9. Hope just as easily broke up with Wyatt over something Quinn did. Yes, Quinn is certifiable and Bill is just an asshole, but Hope is hopelessly wishy-washy about her life, her choices, etc. and it wouldn't be a great surprise if she decided that she didn't want Bill in her life for the same reasons she gave Wyatt about Quinn. Ridge before her often did the same, breaking up with Brooke over something Stephanie put into motion, regardless of whether or not Brooke was an active participant. And it's all complete and utter crap, of course. I'd be firmly with her in the never wanting to see Taylor again stance. Jeebus, that woman is annoying. Just for fun (read: torture) I fossicked around the Internets for some Eric/Taylor last week in honour of the 1-year anniversary of Taylor's pyjama walkout and I groaned in agony the entire time. That said, wouldn't it be fun (read: torture) to have Taylor be Quinn's court-appointed psychiatrist after Quinn's put through the ringer for attempted murder? Over time the two of them could develop some sort of complicit relationship and cook up some whackadoodle scheme to knock off Brooke once and for all, hahahaha! *lightning claps*
  10. Oh my God. Does anyone know what Jack Wagner's doing right now? Nick, Ridge & Deacon could have a Battle of the Part Time Dads / Creepy Romantic Interests. If it was good enough for the Ancient Greeks, it should be good enough for us! And the fact that Brooke & Katie are sisters doesn't help to fuel a longstanding animosity storyline-wise - I can't imagine Brooke saying that she would never want to see Katie again because they're family, whereas I'm sure she would have spat out those words while talking about mortal enemies Stephanie & Taylor (the latter in particular). Brooke and Quinn are chalk and cheese - a lover versus a fighter. And if Quinn is meant to be the Stephanie pseudo-recast, it makes little sense to have them in so few scenes to really flaunt that comparison in the "Ridge is a new man!!!!" style of writing we had ad nauseum for months after TK's arrival. Speaking of Stephanie, apparently Venice: The Series is doing a meet and greet and Susan Flannery is alleged to be there. Every now and then I forget that she's still alive. Is that horrible of me? Someone better go and take pictures. I bet it'd be like getting a photo of Bigfoot or a UFO.
  11. LittleIggy, pretty sure it'll be Quinn as Ivy is a jewellery designer.
  12. So I haven't watched any of this week's episodes of The Hope Logan Show - should I? I'm tempted to have a look at the Bill vs Deacon scenes, and I've been waiting for Quinn to do something reckless and melodramatic ever since she came on the canvas, but... I'm just so uninspired. Nothing I've read this week has made me want to watch the show. How sad! I found a whole heap of episodes on YouTube from c1997 with German overdubs so I've been watching them instead (and making the story up as I go along because ich spreche kein Deutsch - much more fun!). Anyway, here are some spoilers from SNS for 7/14: By the way, Happy 4th July 'Murica!
  13. I'm warming to Deacon. There, I said it. And I liked that dress Hope was wearing too. But that's about it. What happened? The red carpet girls introduced him as a "beautiful chocolate man" (true but inappropriate), and then asked him what it's like to be a black man in soap operas these days. Apparently they also asked Joseph Mascolo what makes him so legendary in the soap community. By all accounts the whole thing was a complete mess. OMG Liam would never, ever bang that psycho witch!! They have absolutely zero sexual tension. The thought is absolutely disgusting!! Which is why they should totally go there! Come on, this is The Bold & the Beautiful, where awkward sexual relationships reign supreme! What would the mashup name be? Quiam? Liaquinn? And Quinn keeps going over to Liam's house when she knows she's not welcome and she says she can't stand Liam and it's all just adding up to her finding the boy completely irresistible. [/sarcasm] Why was Brooke even at Liam's place anyway? Hope hasn't moved in with him, she still lives at the Logan Mansion, and everyone had a change of clothes to indicate a new day, so presumably Brooke & Hope went home together after the party... surely Liam would have swung by Hope's place on the way to work instead? Weird. Bill & Brooke should still be engaged - I don't remember anyone calling it off. Guess I'm a psychopath. Me too. Cats are the real jerks here! Cats are users who only want you when you have something that they want and they care not for YOUR feelings! Wyatt should adopt a boisterous but lovable dog that runs around the place bumping into things and knocking stuff over and licking people's faces and shedding hair everywhere and accidentally urinating on Ridge's couture designs and chases Malibu up trees and makes himself a general nuisance but has a heart of gold and cute puppy dog eyes and a ferociously waggy tail and loves everyone. And at the end of every show the last scene is of the dog surrounded by complete chaos and everyone looking down at him with exasperated expressions and saying in unison "Oh, Dog!" and the dog turns to the camera and shrugs and then the shot freezes and the credits roll as the live audience applauds.
  14. It's fascinating how we are all watching the same show but getting a variety of different readings out of it - I thought Rena Sofer did another great job in her scenes with Don Diamont and I'm seeing more and more of early/mid-90s Susan Flannery in her performance, which will always put a smile on my face (replace "Liam" with "Brooke", "Hope" with "Taylor" and Wyatt with "Ridge" in those scenes today and you've got dialogue between Stephanie & Eric from 20 years ago). I guess it depends on what you want to get out of it, whose performances you follow more closely than others, which storylines you like over others, how much previous history of the show you have, etc. and I'm so glad this forum exists so I can read opinions from intelligent and coherent fellow humanoids, unlike some other places that I won't mention... *cough*facebook&twitter*cough* Loved that blue polo top Bill had on today, I don't know what it was about it but Don Diamont looked great in it. Does anyone know if there's a story behind his mangled right pinkie finger? That thing is all over the place. Also loved TK's acting in that speech at the end even if it was all pretty cheesy; gotta give props to a man who's not afraid to well up a little. (I spied a chin wobble from John McCook, too - what a SNAG!). I wonder if Ridge was meant to wipe Katie's tears away or if it was a reflex action on TK's part? It looked a lot like he stopped himself from doing it. And another meltingly loving look from Ridge at his aunt Pam... I don't know. I don't care if he looks like a barrel, he's got my vote. I do wish Liam would let Hope speak for herself and stop trying to dominate the situation, though. It's not a good look. Me too. I wonder what it's going to take for her to win one. Does anyone know what Eileen Davidson's work was like/what stories she was in? I hope and pray that B&B missing out on all the gongs this year will wake TPTB up and get them going on some quality stuff to rebound for next year's awards - if they exist next year. Given the tanking form of the Daytime Emmys over the years, there are some calling for the show to be included with the Primetime awards. Heather Tom tweeted today that one of the red carpet girls called her "Jane" - whether you rate her as an actress or not, that's still pretty disrespectful. And let's not get onto what happened with Lawrence St Victor... She even said something today that caught my ear in this regard, something along the lines of "that really means a lot to me - to us" (emphasis added) - I think it was after Brooke said her little speech in support of Kridge. Add to that the constant clinging onto Ridge, the awkward PDAs in front of slightly disgusted family members... I'd love to know if this self-centeredness is scripted or if this is how Heather Tom is choosing to play Katie. There's being deliriously happy, and then there's being delusional. Too right - I saw quite a few times cuts to the supporting cast who had skeptical looks on their faces. There was an especially sour one from Donna at one point when everyone else was smiling, looking like she hadn't got the "Support Kridge" memo. Poor Donna.
  15. For those keeping score at home, Bold & Beautiful won 0 awards at the Daytime Emmys - KKL won a producers award for Venice: The Series with Crystal Chapelle, and Hair & Makeup and Costume won at the Creative Arts Emmys on Friday, but zilch for Bell & Co in the main race. Apparently the red carpet show was a complete mess. Not overly disappointed that I missed it. ETA: Also, Linsey Godfrey had her baby last week, a little girl named Aleda Seren Adamson (here's their instagram pic).
  16. Just want to chime in before I go to bed (yes, it's bedtime for me): Seriously. Does Carter smell? Is that maybe why he and Ridge are friends? Nooooooooo Eric & Donna 4evaaaaaa!!! One of the things I really liked about Eric & Donna Part 1 was the fact that Donna dug Eric because of who he is as a man, rather than his money or his social status, despite what everyone else said about her (and him, for that matter). And I like that this thread continues in the (little) dialogue that Donna has had lately; talking about Eric being different to the guys she used to go after to Katie when Kridge was just beginning, considering the possibility of pursuing him again when the girls were planning Bridge wedding #645... I'd like to see them give their relationship another try, but do it slowly, and from an emotional place rather than a sexual one, to give a bit of depth to these backburner characters. I like to think that Eric still has feelings for Donna but isn't sure what to do with them, and if I were writing Bold that's what I would be exploring. But you're right, RuntheTable, it could work your way. Also, for extra soapy bonus points, don't forget that Carter is Marcus' adoptive brother. Messy!
  17. I love that grey-blue/tan combo Eric/JMC was wearing in today's show, very stylish/sophisticated older gentlemanly. So nice to see him dressed in something other than a dark suit & tie. Also couldn't help but notice he was telling some sort of sordid story to Aly/AP & Thorne/WH in the background while Ridge & Katie were whispering by the front door; AP all of a sudden made this shocked "oh my God" face and the little attention I was paying to the scene in the first place just disappeared. And the little exchange Eric & Pam had looking up at Stephanie's portrait, without any words being said, was so sweet. Oh! And that "I think we better leave these two alone" look Brooke shot Eric after talking to Hope and Liam, that was good too. It appears I got more out of this episode than I had anticipated. Hooray! Let's hope Ridge & Carter play strip poker and that Carter is very bad at poker. One thing that has annoyed me more than most in this storyline is that characters have been saying "I don't know what I'd do without Ridge", when he was supposedly MIA in Europe not all that long ago. I had assumed that he didn't contact anyone in L.A. but maybe I'm wrong? Because you just spent about 18 months without the guy in your lives and most of you have survived to some degree or another. I mean, I know being dead and being in self-exile are two different things, but the effects are the same for both. Everyone else here has already said it upthread, bu basically, in a word, it's about redemption. Someone mentioned Stephanie's shooting earlier, which did the same thing, but even before that Stephanie also had an amnesia storyline which served to a) redeem her character as a nice, forgiving, gentler person than she had been over the previous 4-5 years, and b) reintroduce her as a spoiler for Brooke/Eric by having her rediscover her feelings for Eric and capitalise on Brooke's wandering eye for Ridge, et cetera. I see this as the same thing, but not being done to the same quality or pace as previously, which is a shame. Me too, and I've wondered about this for a long time - is it because now we live in an entertainment/information culture where we constantly need instant gratification? Moving storylines along at lightening speed allows us to find out what's going on to our favourite characters without making us wait too long to find out, but at the expense of quality storytelling. There was enormous potential to build up Aly vs Taylor and that all seemed to resolve itself within a week. Why? There's definitely a fan base for those two characters and they are definitely vocal, so it can't be because the idea is unpopular. Even the infamous Angela/Deveny Dixon storyline lasted a long time before it went for the proverbial roll down Ocean Avenue. There's just not enough suspense in these storylines. I loved this idea the first time I read it and I still love it now. Stephanie dies without knowing whether the prodigal son is alive, Brooke doesn't know if she should allow herself to move on or if she should cling to hope that Ridge will return... If us ordinary folk can come up with scenarios like this, why can't the head writers who are meant to be professional storytellers? Very irritating. I always wonder what a fan-written show would be like, like if CBS had a competition to select the new storyline for November sweeps or whatever, or you could win a workshop session with the writers or something. Eric mentioned it after Thorne announced Felicia and Kristen would be visiting to check on Ridge. No word on whether Taylor was invited - Bill who? Don't be silly; the only man who matters here is Ridge.
  18. Where's the bonus scene for this?!?! Goodness gracious me. Haha, you're welcome ByTor! :) THE BEACH IS LAVA My guess is that it's a private beach closed off exclusively to the resort, but even so, surely Brooke & Bill weren't the only people staying there...
  19. So I guess the spoilers about Bill & Justin finding Ridge and keeping him in a secret location were false, which is a real shame because I was looking forward to seeing Ridge bound in some sort of subterranean cavern, filthy and in agony and desperate for help, watched over in shifts by Bill & Justin as they figure out a way to reintroduce their nemesis to the land of the living while ducking blame for the whole thing. Instead we had a comparatively lacklustre discovery of a man who looks like he either escaped a hippie commune or was abducted and probed by aliens, with no injuries whatsoever, and suffering from about ten minutes worth of amnesia. On the beach, in front of the hotel. After helicopters, planes, boats and foot soldiers searched the ENTIRE GULF looking for a foreign national. Could Ridge have wandered in a daze out of a nearby hospital? But surely there would be an admission record, or even just a nurse would could identify him from a photo. Help from fishermen? I bet you there was a $$$ reward on offer; no one would let a prize like that just walk off. Where did he get the new clothes? Why isn't he injured? Why go with partial amnesia when the full-blown strain is much more fun? No mid-air fist-fight, no Ericatie, no sex dungeon - I mean, torture cavern, and too many unanswered questions - I'm very disappointed in the overall direction this story has taken. Except maybe for this: RuntheTable, I've watched this scene a hundred times already today and it hurts me every single time. God I love John McCook. Too right donovan! This may be my bias for these characters at play, but I'd argue that Eric & Brooke were too excited to see Ridge alive in the first instance to worry about anything else. The promo for tomorrow has Brooke saying to Eric something like "Ridge seems out of sorts" (to which we all say "No shit, Sherlock"), so maybe they organise some sort of health check in later episodes? (Probably not.) Not saying that not getting medical help isn't boneheaded, but I can sort of see how anxious, stressed-out loved ones who are one step away from a mental breakdown themselves can take leave of common sense in a moment like this. She was like this on the plane over, too. Eric would say, "We're gonna find Ridge, he'll be there waiting for us, etc.", and Katie would say "But what if he's not? My life would be over!!!" It's times like these when I wonder how I started off being a fan of her. (I still like Heather Tom, though.) More to love, I say! As a fellow laid back Aussie, I can totally go with this. The man doesn't need a hospital, he needs a kebab! Give it time.
  20. Oh Rena Sofer, you are slaying me. That bit near the end when Quinn said she didn't know what men see in Brooke had Susan Flannery written all over it and I loved it. Really looking forward to Hurricane DeaQuinn now after those bar scenes. And guys, when Eric called Bill "Spencer"? My heart fluttered. I love that Eric has no time for Bill and won't call him by his first name. His dislike of the Spencer name obviously runs very, very deep. So I guess the mermaid's done with Ridge? Nice of her to dress him in a fetching all-white cotton ensemble to signify his purification. /anvil And co-signing on the Liam & Wyatt scenes. If Brad Bell doesn't want to do the bromance thing, then at least it'd be nice to see some family getting along for a change. It reminded me of the first Ridge/Bill confrontation at FC about six months ago now, when Bill said Ridge stank of arrogance (paraphrasing). I feel this is like a misunderstanding of the fans by the writers - I imagine the round table for this episode went something like: WRITER #1: The natives are restless - I mean, the fans are concerned that there's no continuity throughout the show. WRITER #2: I know what'll please them - bring the cat in from the shelter that plays absolutely no part in any frontburner storyline whatsoever. They'll like our attention to the little details! Don't forget this little gem: Deacon deflowers Bridget! Edited because html code hates me.
  21. Not a fan of the "let's hide the pregnant actress/mysterious newcomer behind props and awkward camera angles" direction at the best of times, and this show did both today. We all know Deacon is returning to Bell-A! There's no need to hide that from the viewer; I would have rather seen Deacon reading Quinn as she was talking to him than be distracted by those low-angled bar shots. And hiding Linsey Godfrey behind flower arrangements/stacks of magazines/desks just looks silly and makes her pregnancy even more conspicuous. Thanks for being specific! I was going to say something about Malibu rum too, but thought it would be too X-rated even for me. I did a Google Image search trying to find that but I kept getting distracted by other things. Me neither - I wasn't watching when Deacon was first on the scene but the clips I've seen on YouTube etc. haven't impressed me much, and Sean Kanan's not my cup of tea in the looks department. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing what trouble brews between him & Quinn. And personally, being an Eric fan, and knowing that Eric absolutely hates Deacon and now has a sour taste for Quinn, I'm keen for some interaction between DeaQuinn vs Everyone Else. Back to the Dubai story next week, yay! I'm bored of The Hope Show.
  22. Hope's pussy (cat) is called Malibu. Didn't Steffy adopt a Parisian puppy 12 months ago and call it Malibu? How uncreative. Surely Hope should have called it Snowflake, or Twinkles, or Sugar. Or Cocaine. Also, applying logic to a show that defies logic, but how did Oliver manage to take photos of Ridge and Katie at Poetry Park, where he was not actually present? Or at the Forrester family Christmas? Or get photos of Ridge smiling in Eric's office? Ridge doesn't want him taking photos of no-name fashion models, let alone take candids during business meetings. Of all the boneheaded continuity issues B&B has on an almost daily basis, this one sticks out like a dog's back leg. Isn't this what story editors are for? How on Earth did this scene make it to the air show? Colour me greatly annoyed. So Carter & Ridge (Cartridge?) are friends - they play racquetball together, they mutually conspire to take down FC executives together. Why couldn't we have seen this bromance blossom??? I don't want to assume that these things happen, I want to see it - I want to hear Ridge call Carter a "cool dude" to his face, I want to witness Carter annihilate Ridge at squash (preferably shirtless). I want to see two unrelated men on this show have guy time and be friends, and then have that friendship inevitably shot to Hell over a betrayal of some sort. I would also accept Forrester vs Spencer tag-team wrestling should it come to that. Not interested in Maya snooping around Aly/Oliver. Get a life, girl! You're engaged to the most succulent piece of man meat in Bell-A and you're wasting valuable sex time running around worried for an of-age ingénue? C'mon now. And then joining in? Seriously, RuntheTable, I want fisticuffs. I want bloodshed. I want an ultimate fight scene of final boss battle proportions. If the men won't do it*, the women should pick up the slack. *properly - Ridge mounting Bill on his desk was delightfully entertaining, but not specifically what I'm after. It was the tears that got me. It also made me realise that we've not seen Quinn upset since the "Bill is Wyatt's father!!!" reveal, in stark contrast to the Logan girls who will cry at the drop of a hat. Sometimes less truly is more. The Quinn/Wyatt scenes weren't as dramatic as I thought they would be after reading the episode recaps - I would have liked more yelling - but watching Quinn try to hug her son as he declares he doesn't want to ever see her again was still painful. Spoilers for next week from Soaps In Depth:
  23. So I really liked the Hope/Wyatt scenes from today and yesterday, Kim Matula & Darin Brooks did a great job. I've said it before and I'll say it again, DB's comedic skills are a lot better than his dramatic skills. I wonder what Brooke had in mind when she said "I don't know what I'll do"? I'm imagining some kind of Gladiators pugil stick jousting set up, perhaps above a raging river of molten lava, with maybe some screeching dragons circling overhead. (Okay, I've officially lost it.) Fixed it for ya. Me neither. I realise Steffy being in L.A for the latest Lope wedding was one of Quinn's machinations, but the fact that Hope simply turned and ran upon sighting her still speaks volumes about her trust issues with Liam. I also know that single people do not make for good soap stories but why continue to ping-pong about the place? If Hope really stood for honesty and integrity she would learn to love herself and be single for a little while. But how many times do we say this... Totally nitpicking here, but I don't think these latest scenes were a board meeting as much as they were just a collection of people who had heard the news about Ridge (mostly family), and Charlie does indeed work for FC. But I get your point. My other half even asked me today if anyone actually does any work on "this show"; we all know what the answer I gave him was. Couple that with Quinn's recent(and Wyatt's previous) comments about Tofu, and they look like a pair of Tofu-hating puppy kickers. I have tried to like Wyatt, but those statements yesterday just rubbed me the wrong way. YMMV of course but I saw these comments from Wyatt as being born from desperation and panic; things that he has said about Liam to other people and to Liam himself but not to Hope out of respect for her choices, and now that he's in a hopeless situation (no pun intended) he's reaching for things to help him look like the better guy and obviously failing miserably. If he had taken time to think about what he was saying, I bet he wouldn't have said it. Quinn, on the other hand, is just mean. I bolded what I think is the crucial distinction between Pam's crazy and Quinn's crazy - Pam suffers/suffered from bipolar disorder/brain tumour which has been managed by medication and surgery, and therefore her actions are explainable, whereas I would argue that Quinn's constant troublemaking and refusal to accept full responsibility for her actions are more antisocial and psychopathic in nature, without justifiable cause or motivation. I'm sure Pam hasn't forgotten the awful things she did to Donna and Eric and even her own sister, but she has also apologised for those things and has attempted to move forward with her life, even becoming friends with the object of her hatred. I don't see this being a possibility with Quinn and I actually prefer it that way - I would hate for her to be explained away by some illness curable with drugs/therapy. Some people are just plain nuts; Quinn is one of them, and that's what makes her fun. That, and Rena Sofer's performance in the role - love or hate Quinn, I think RS is doing a fantastic job with the somewhat cardboard material she's being given. I've been expecting this for a while now. There's some weird subtext in their scenes. Co-signing. IIRC even Scott Clifton acknowledged this in a recent interview, but I can't remember where I read it.
  24. Should I even bother watching today's episode? All signs point to no. Hey now - he's no oil painting, but he's not bad for a guy on the wrong side of 65. Thanks SweePea59! Although I've just noticed I used the same word two lines in a row, so points off!
  25. Ugh Hope and Liam. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz RuntheTable, re: spoilers: I love all of this scenario, but I don't know if I could bear seeing Eric's heart being broken at the hands of Brooke again. And in any case, Brooke tried it last year and it didn't work. I wish the writers would address this apparent reluctance on Eric's part to resume a relationship with Donna - she's a) beautiful, b) interested, c) more mature than she was on their previous go-around, and d) financially secure. His hedging of the subject makes no sense to me. Thanks Anna Yolei, I appreciate the different perspective on this and would like to know more about other shows, particularly Y&R, although I have no strong desire to sit down and watch it (and anyway, it doesn't air here any more). When you say "caters to the female audience", what do you mean by that - are the storylines tailored more to female concerns, or is it a matter of more beefcake? On a love fool's headlong errand, I plunged into the sea, Arab search and rescue Searched fruitlessly for me. Down deeper in the briny gulf, Below the boats and yatchs, I thought I was a goner, I thought all hope was lost. But then a wet hand clutched at mine, The breath of life she kissed, With salty lips I was revived By Poseidon's deep-sea witch. Adieu to life upon the sand! Goodbye to poor Katie! Hello my Persian mermaid bride, My newfound destiny!
