  1. Oh, so in a world filled with zombies, it's a good idea to park yourself in front of a open window with a little fire to show them the way. okay.
  2. Note to self: Ordering Chinese delivery to coincide with the beginning of FTWD is not a very good idea. :)
  3. Almost missed this! I'm glad to see the end of the puppy-chute paradise, and what will Chris get up to?
  4. Well, this is interesting! I was just watching an episode of 'Live Free or Die', and Matt is on it! Very happy to see him again. He, of course, built a very interesting structure to live in so far.
  5. From what I remember of episode zero, I believe they were recently divorced. Perhaps someone could refresh my memory? I *think* that's how it went. I even wondered when he went 'home' to tell his children about his win if he was going to his own house, or his ex-wife's. It seemed rather uncomfortable on the couch with the kids, and then the deck scene. ??? If (okay, now I'm totally speculating) he is paying spousal support and child support....maybe that's why he had to be the 'dad of no' rather than the 'dad of yes'? After that whole thing, I'm starting to wonder if he watches Bravo. lol
  6. Please excuse the above post. I had a reply box open for a couple of days, which sent me into an endless loop of some sort. I'll try again. Oh! Here we are. :) The couple of times I inadvertently ended up in cold water unexpectedly, it was *far* colder to get out if there was wind, or even a breeze, than it was to just stay in there. I assume that Jose knew that, plus he'd have to hike back up to his camp where there might or might not be a fire. IMO, he was smart to just tap. There's really no way to dry heavy clothes in that environment, as we've seen contestants say over and over and over. And for whoever was talking about just having a 'fire in the shelter' to dry one's clothes, that wouldn't work so well in a small tent-like enclosure made mostly of a plastic (or canvas) tarp. You might be able to get away with a small TINY fire (like, to boil water for a cup of coffee), but to dry clothes??? No way. No how. Now I must catch up. :)
  7. O.M.G. I just spent about 2 hours quoting and replying and then my goddamn internet went down and I lost the whole fucking thing. I am now f'ing MostlyContent. <evil mad smiley> Short version: 1) Congrats David. You were a creepy Eeyore, and then you morphed. 2) Larry is still an asshole. 3) Jose is ocd and I adore him. Can't wait for the reunion, unless it's like last year's. I am so pissed off and I hate the interwebs. And I hate Charter (like Comcast).
  8. I think Larry tapped out eventually because of hunger. Pure and simple. I could be wrong, but that's what it looked like.
  9. It is! It was really touching! I can't wait for those of you who have to wait to see it. Next week is the reunion. So glad Jose took his kayak home. I bet he makes it perfect. :)
  10. Okay, now the winner is standing on the bank fishing, caught a fish, and the boat is pulling up!! He thinks it is a normal health check. Now his daughter is sneaking up behind him as he's talking. commercial! lol!
  11. Jose tapped before he could even get out of the water. He was wearing all his wool and heavy clothes, so knew he was done. It was sad. A lot of David and Larry talking about family. David tripped on the rocks and hurt his knee(s), so that is added suspense. They showed little compilations of both their time on the island. A boat was just shown with what appears to be the crew and maybe a family member(?) for the winner!! Then...commercial which is where we're at now. sheesh! Okay, the boat was for the tapper!
  12. Thoughts while watching the first episode: David and his prison shank, too funny! He has lots of wood, water, the perfect shelter, he says. Developing patience. This David is soooo positive. He fishes and has luck. Doesn't look like he's close to tapping. Larry loves the rain sound, and the ocean is a chest-thumping bully man. Wait, he's giving up on fishing totally? I don't think your gill net was a foolish choice, Larry, no matter what your son said. Jose gives us a lot of information. He goes from "one day without grub is all I'm willing to take and then this experiment is over" to wanting to stay for Shauna rather than tap for her. Turns out that he is unable to work in Canada yet and she has been supporting him. Now that is quite a revelation from a man who has to have a healthy ego. If Larry is still here by the end of the episode, I'll be shocked. Too bad about Jose's net gill problem. Maybe this is going to be the reason for what appears to be a cold bath. David talks about isolation and his family. Color me confused. lol. F'ing Larry is being positive again. Jose builds a float and discussing his kayak strategy. uh-oh. Yep, into the water he goes! OMG, it actually happened!!! Nice lead into the finale.
  13. I'm so excited! Of course the downside is once it's over, it's........over.
  14. I totally loved that. I think I had a girl crush on his darling little girl!
  15. Ah yes. Thank you for reminding me about that situation. :) Mitch is off the LOT list.
  16. I agree, totally. The LOT's are (mostly) playing for the camera before tapping, as far as I'm concerned. Last season I might give Sam and Lucas a pass, but if one was expecting a baby, or one's mom had terminal cancer....why the hell are you signing up for something that you *think* might last a year? Exactly, especially since most of us (couch people lol) would rather hear the truth than some wha-wha excuse for tapping. Hunger; I can understand and do not blame anyone for that. The LOT's? I don't buy it in the least. The majority of them seem to be people who readily choose to be away from their families for a good proportion of the time anyway. Like, "Oh, I'll become proficient in survival, and then I'll teach it", or "I'm a wilderness firefighter ". I would much rather hear, "I need a damn cheeseburger. This challenge was too difficult for me", or "I thought this was going to be difficult, but it's not, so I'm tapping". As I said, I know it's not a likely scenario, but it would add an interesting component. :)
  17. I had a thought (or two) about this 'loved one' issue. Although this must be one of my favorite shows, and to me it's largely fine as it is, wouldn't it be interesting if they had to go to a Ponderosa (survivor) place once they tapped? Then they'd have to stay there until someone won. I'll bet the 'loved ones tappers' would last a whole hell of a lot longer if they weren't just whisked off to love once they did decide to tap. Perhaps the LOTs, aka loved one tappers, especially the skilled ones, might just decide they might as well stay there and keep competing rather than hanging out somewhere with the other tappers. I realize it's unrealistic because there's no firm end time, but it's fun to think about. :)
  18. No kidding! In the last episode we'll probably see a big ass piece of meat tied to a camera by a crew member or something. The dog/wolf will grab it. Done deal. lol
  19. Well, best of luck in your journey, Nicole. We'll miss you! I have to admit that I had convinced myself that nobody was tapping tonight, so that came as a surprise. It rather scared me when they said it was a 'distress call'. For a few seconds I imagined all sorts of horrible things! It was touching to hear fucking Larry talk about his wife, and create sand art. Jose's eating of mussels was (of course) not nearly as worrisome as it seemed from the previews. It was an evening of sentiment from Jose, Larry and Nicole for sure. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm truly starting to think that David might win this thing. He seems to grow more positive as time goes on. The transformation from mopey David to this version is ........interesting!
  20. I'll guess 75 days, for no particular reason. :) I am a bit worried about Nicole's MS now. Still pulling for Jose to win, but honestly I really don't have any strong feelings about how this is going to pan out.
  21. Oh, that was so funny! I forgot about that!
  22. Her spidey senses were definitely tingling, that's for sure! Was it David talking about catching crabs on the shore of NJ when he was a kid what you're thinking about, rhn? I found that interesting, too!
  23. I really loved this episode! :) "Makin' fun of Lucas is wrong, This is my limpet song" made me honestly laugh out loud. Okay, finally, David is growing on me a little bit. Even through his comedy of errors, he didn't get too morose. He mentioned leaving if he couldn't get warm, but it seemed rather off-hand. Bad luck with Nichole and the seals. It would be so disappointing to *see* a fish swim into the net and then have it be swiped by an opportunist. The nerve. When Larry was grousing about boredom, I said to my husband, "Why in the heck doesn't he make something" right before he started his spoon. Again, the contrasts are hilarious. Larry and his clunky spoon vs Jose and his graceful jig (made to be 'beautiful' and 'animal like'). I really love watching that sort of stuff. So happy that Jose caught a fish after his discovery that he missed the salmon run. It was great seeing him explain that he did exactly what he tells his students not to do, become fixated on what one wants to do in contrast to what the land is offering. I still find Larry's ups and downs pretty disturbing, and wouldn't want to be around the guy, personally. David, on the other hand is becoming much less creepy. :)
  24. You and I both missed it, because it didn't happen (as of yet). Jose did not fall into the water. Rather like Nicole did not 'run from the bears'. I'm so fucking sick of the previews this year. Quit trying to make us believe that 'OMG, something happened', when nothing really happened. The same will be true with the 'wolf'. I *think* you did. He chose a hammock in order to deconstruct it. Then, he reconstructed it, as seen. Production started a few weeks earlier than it did last year, as far as I know.
