    S01.E07: Sleuths

Did they say that the mutation of the bears getting exo-skeletal armor would normally have taken a few hundred years or a few generations? Did everyone on the show completely fail all science classes - that type of mutation takes many orders of magnitude longer than that. I hope the animals devolve into Abbies and really cause some havoc -- sorry I couldn't resist a joke for those that wasted their time with Wayward Pines and are now wasting their time with Zoo - me included. Why is it so hard for TV to get any type of science fiction at all correct? All they need is one person that has at least graduated high school with a B grade in biology/chemistry/physics classes to get most of the nonsensical science out of the show.
  2. If you lookup https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/16th_arrondissement_of_Paris you will find: With its ornate 19th century buildings, large avenues, prestigious schools, museums and various parks, the arrondissement has long been known as one of French high society's favorite places of residence (comparable to New York's Upper East Side or London's Kensington and Chelsea) to such an extent that the phrase "le 16e" has been associated with great wealth in French popular culture. So I don't think having a large fridge is out of line. I mean when you compare this to all the other non-sequiturs and ill-logic its fine. I do hope that at least some of the animal attacks are somehow being directed: making the Paris bear attack, Antarctic lesbian attack, the wolf-prison break not random events but being conducted for a purpose. Maybe the other attacks are random but I hope that there are some such as those I just mentioned that are being controlled. I would think that Dr Oz would be behind it, and that maybe Animal-Manson was a protege or minion of his. But more likely there will not be any semblance of logic for the whole show and we'll just be left with unsatisfactory or no answers.
  3. Even though they deny another season, I took it as leaving an opening for her to come back again. Without showing her die explicitly, they could show her ducking into one of the doors down there. I think there were two or three points in the show where Ethan asked where the other doors went to. I think that the lights along the top went off. If this were a regular occurrence (not saying it was), an animal would eventually learn what it meant. Yep, now he has IR surveillance blimps/satellites/drones that no one noticed before too! BUT, I am out for anymore of this, there are just too many things that make no sense or are completely implausible.
  4. My impression of this was that the security girl did see Theresa entering Lot 33, but that she purposely spilled her coffee in case she needed to cover up missing it. This was one of my problems earlier. I don't think that you need a helicopter (or Bev would not have commented that she has seen no planes) but it is a good distance. The image they showed from the mountain top to the town was something like this: So in my mind it would have to take [even with a vehicle] 15-30 minutes at least - probably more (and yet our hero can save Kate coming from the mountain top in probably less than 1-2 minutes). But none of this matters ... with all the major plot holes, non-sensible human (and Abbie!) behavoir, absurd premise as to how to save the human race, unexplained, silly or impossible technological engineering -- please just make it stop. I'll watch the last one with the hope that the Abbies take over the Earth.
  5. I seem to recall something about 'if it wasn't Beverly to be turned in then it would have been Ethan'. I.e. she was protecting Ethan. Some other random thoughts: * Does anyone know the ratings on this show? If they are good I will say that the Abbies get in, destroy the town, and then next season its time for Group C to give it a go :-) * Is the dump truck lodged in the wall such that it is blocking entry? * What is the process for getting to and from the bunker and town? And how long does it take? It looks like the bunker is miles from town and up on a giant hill - I would think that it would take at least an hour or so with vehicles.Have any WP people ever followed bunker-ites and seen this? What is the process for moving items to the town, is there a staging building where stuff comes from the bunker and is then moved by our favorite delivery guy from there? I noticed this before. Also I thought that Pilcher wasn't that worried about getting back in the helicopter when the abbies were closing in. A reveal like this might help to save what's left of this show.
  6. Didn't he find a map or something to follow? This could have been a plant to get him to go a certain way. Also, to me Pilcher didn't seem that worried when waiting at the helicopter for Ethan to get in. If I were him I would have been in the chopper much faster! But most likely it is 4096 and all the things we see that make no sense or are not possible are just the result of a sub-par story or its translation to TV. I am hoping that there is more, and that there is a more logical and believable twist or so, but we'll see.
  7. My hope for a logical and interesting show are greatly diminishing ... after watching Lost for 7 years I only started this since it was just 10 episodes ... but assuming that this is going to make some type of sense and not just be yet another sloppy sci-fi TV show ... Why I think its not 4028: 1. They show a quarter from 2096 (iirc), therefore society and technology certainly moved along from 2015. If they were minting quarters in 2096 then the Abbies certainly did not take over the Earth yet. So there should be tech in the bunker that is beyond today's tech. Certainly we should see items from say 2020, or 2040, but we don't. 2. There are what, maybe 500-1000 people (combined bunker and WP) to feed, house, etc. For you farmers out there, how many arable and ranch acres would be needed to support this many people? Are we to assume that all this food has been stored (no way) ... does the bunker have farms and ranches and fisheries somewhere? I think Occam would say that the more likely situation is that its not 4096 and that all these things are coming in from the world as we know it. 3. Maintaining this equipment ... yep 2015 equipment will surely last 2000 years. In the other thread I posited (but only while grasping at straws) that maybe everything was in a large vacuum ... again doesn't seem right. What this might be: Perhaps this is a Secret Service test (of Ethan) to prepare him for a potential future catastrophe? Surveillance: There would be tons of ways to avoid this, there was what 1 person watching a screen of maybe 100-200 small panels of videos. The townsfolk would have certainly figured out that most of the town is not being watched. Unfortunately: Its probably just another poorly thought out TV show not geared towards people that need it to make sense (other than the sci-fi premise). I'll watch to see what happens, but otherwise its on to Zoo.
  8. Since Agent Hassler mentioned that there might be another agent coming and to be wary ... he is obviously in on things. If this really is 4028, then I bet that he was frozen too and in the bunker. That would also address his being able to answer the phone. To deal with the rebels - simple - let a few out and show the rest of the town what happens to them. But Pilcher seems to be getting wackier and wackier and has no clue about human behavior. But I am still thinking that its not really 4028 and that this is some type of experiment.
  9. Could he have stored everything in a giant, moisture-proof vacuum?
  10. Where does this hibernation tech come from and from what year? It doesn't exist now. If its from some point in the future between now and 4096 then there would be some tech advancements that would have occured to that point and we just don't see this anywhere in the show. I suppose that maybe once the Abbies started out, there was a push to create WP and generate hibernation tech in isolation from the world? I guess, but it could be a setup still? Maybe the map is bogus and he sees a staged area? They say they are in Idaho, but it might not be. Right, that is the correct quote. The burger is a separate thing, but why is it ready so fast? And that line bothers me. Well, you got me on these. But it does seem that the Abbies react in packs (e.g. they try to attack the heli), and if they attacked WP in numbers they would not be stopped. AND, if the whole point is survival of the human race against them, this is not how it would be done, not if they also have a warehouse for supplies, etc. Would the camp not be more fully armed/protected? The point of WP is not just for protection from the Abbies, its real purpose is something else, imho.
  11. Lots of great comments and thought in this thread. I agree that 'The Truth' is not really the truth - I would suspect that Dr Jenkins created the Abbies (maybe by mistake) during genetic experiments (his pine tree comments show that he is into genetics) maybe around year 2000. They were maybe under control for sometime, but eventually got loose. But there are still lots of questions ... But to add something else, (1) one thing that still bugs me is Beverly's comment in the first episode to Ethan - along the lines of 'I knew you liked it that way' and the fact that the burger was done faster than it should have been. To me, this means that she either (a) knew he would be hungry and liked burgers and therefore started cooking it before he came in, or (b) this is some type of time travel/repeated scene that has happened before. (2) I don't believe that they are in the year 4098 or whatever. There is nothing around, either in the environment that Ethan discovers 'outside' or in the town, or in the town or in the warehouse area that shows any tech beyond 2015. A quarter supposedly from 2096 that looks basically the same as one today, try again! (3) Maybe I missed it, but at the end of Episode 4 and beginning of 5, does it not show Ethan laying down being observed by an Abby? Why wouldn't it attack? And since Ethan can climb out of WP, certainly the Abbies could climb down into it. So maybe I will contradicting myself from before, and think that the Abbies are actors and that even the area around WP is staged. The purpose being??? (4) It seems like it must be some type of government experiment or test...
