  1. Okaaaay. Where do I begin? Considering how much I hated episode 8x05, I had no hopes left for the series finale. In that regard, I haven't been disappointed: as expected, I did not like the series finale AT ALL. The first question that popped into my mind after the credits: so... the whole deal with Jon being a Targaryen was... what exactly? I am honestly wondering if this was not an elaborate plan of Bran/3ER to become king, after all. Seriously, why nobody asked Bran WHY he told the truth about Jon in the first place? Apparently, he knew he would become king. Let’s play a little game for a moment: Option 1) Bran does tell Jon the truth about him being Targaryen. Consequences: Jon can no longer being intimate with Daenerys (his aunt who he just met and we honestly saw far worse things in this show) and rejects her. He then confesses to Daenerys the same. His rejections, along with the thought that she can lose what’s been the only purpose of her life, undermines her securities. Jon also doesn’t listen to Dany and tells Sansa and Arya the truth, too. Sansa tells Tyrion, who tells Varys, who betrays Daenerys and tries to kill her. Varys’ betrayal leads to Danerys losing (also) her best friend and another dragon. Dany becomes the Mad Queen and kills everyone in King’s Landing. Jon kills her and is sent to the Nightswatch. Bran becomes king of the Seven Six Kingdoms. Outcome: Jon doesn't become king, although him learning the truth about his lineage seemed to serve EXACTLY this purpose. Instead, he comes back AGAIN to the Nightswatch, exactly where he began, nullifying his whole path as a character. And he also killed the woman he loved. Option 2) Bran DOESN’T tell Jon the truth about him being Targaryen. Consequences: Jon is still madly in love with Daenerys, who reciprocates. Even though Sansa and Arya are not Dany’s supporters, since Dany won’t be betrayed by Varys and still has Jon’s love, she doesn’t lose Missandei and still has 2 dragons. With 2 dragons, Dany can fly to the Red Keep and kill Cersei, the Iron Fleet and the Golden Company but WITHOUT becoming the Mad Queen. Outcome: She marries Jon and they rule together the Seven Kingdoms… or, who knows, even Six. Considering how happy Dany is, probably Jon convinces her to give Sansa what she wants. And Bran is ONLY the 3ER. The end. Am I really supposed to believe that GRRM and/or D&D wrote this HUGE plot hole thinking nobody would’ve noticed? Besides, I still believe that if a character ends basically where he begins and his purpose is somewhat erased, his whole journey is pointless. That’s what happened to Jaime Lannister, to Jon Snow and, arguably, to Cersei and Tyrion. Yes, Tyrion is Hand of the King, but where’s the news? He’s already been one (for Joffrey and Dany). Only Sansa and Bran become queen and king, respectively. Arya leaves, which makes sense for her character, but for some reason, I expected more from her, too. Instead, she finds unicorns, is invincible and becomes an explorer. Ok. How an amazing show with so many potential and many possible (and much satisfying) endings finished its course in such a disappointing, lame note is really beyond me.
  2. Yes, she did bleed. She lost blood from her nose and her mouth.
  3. This, 1000 times. 7 seasons and a half of "Winter is coming" and it lasted less than one hour, with the NK defeated in a few minutes. It would've been so much clever (narratively speaking) to let the NK fly to King's Landing and let him party over there while everybody was expecting him in Winterfell. It would have given Cersei (and KL's population) a lesson, they would've all worked toward a direction and, in the end, people would have still had to choose between Jon or Dany, but without the massacre and, most of all, character assassination. Cersei would've had a much appropriate death anyway, Jaime's arc would've still been completed and useful and Dany would still be Dany and not... whatever they turned her into. But I am not D&D, what do I know. 😞
  4. Had to watch the episode a second time because my mom didn’t have the chance to watch it yet. I hated even more. In one thing D&D were really successful, I.e. in episode #3 I was afraid that: 1) my favourite characters could die 2) Seeing my fave characters die could’ve been the worst thing happening in GOT. 2 episodes later and now: 1) Killing physically off characters is not the worst thing that can happen (character assassination is definitively worst) 2) I don’t even care who dies, survives or sit on the Iron Throne. So... thank you, D&D. I officially no longer care about GOT. I never thought this day could come.

  6. 100% agree with the article, thanks for sharing the link.
  7. I am one of those viewers who defended the show even when I did not agree with certain choices. But this time they managed to lose even me. I did not like the episode AT ALL. The only scene I liked has been the moment between Jaime and Tyrion, which speaks volumes. I guess this is how the books will end too, but for the book readers (I am not), I hope the plot won’t be as rushed. I know that D&D only had 6 episodes, but did they really have to write them so sloppily? Especially this one? Let’s forget for a moment that I disagree with the plot choices: I HATED the way they’ve been written in the first place. The development of most characters has been thrown outside the window and, as much as I try to understand why, it doesn’t make much sense. I mentioned the plot. Many people said: “Why are you surprised? It was obvious they were taking the Dany aka The Mad Queen route.” Right. I should’ve known from the very not-so-subtle first scene with Daenerys. She didn’t brush her hair and she was not eating, nor sleeping. Of course, she was going crazy. *SARCASM MODE OFF* But what about how Dany has been written for the previous 7 f***ing seasons? Sure, she’s been depicted as someone capable of atrocities (like basically every single character in this show except, maybe, Hodor) but still human and rational enough to not put them in place. Maybe, as others have said, she’s not crazy, she’s just furious like she never was before (and in my opinion, rightfully so). But the fact is, the show wants us to believe she's now the Mad Queen, in order to justify upcoming things, like (and I’m just speculating, I am 100% spoiler-free) either Jon or Arya killing her off, but first having Sansa and Arya telling him: “See, we told you so! We were right not trusting your Queen! She’s maaaaad!” Oh, I get D&D’s (or Martin’s, I don’t even care by now) intention. Dany has never been really crazy or bad so far. But with people she cares about not trusting her sanity and believing she will eventually turn bad, she thought: “You know what? I’m not like this, but if you decided to ditch me and betraying me because you’re all afraid I might be, then I will!” Which, from a certain perspective, is reasoning I can even be ok with. But not to the cost of completely destroy the female PROTAGONIST of the show like they did. (On a side note: yes, it’s been foreshadowed many times that Dany could turn mad like her father, but also that she was not willing to, and I don’t think she was. Do you know what would’ve been really unexpected? Dany deciding to NOT become the Mad Queen and, consequentially, giving the middle finger to everyone who did not trust her). And Dany’s character has not even been the only “victim”. I did already have some issue with the NK, but I preferred to joke about it (8 seasons of winter is coming and then the main threat to the WHOLE WORLD goes down so easily??) but now is too much. Jaime’s path to redemption? Let’s erase it, he needs to die with Cersei. Cersei, who was so BAD to deserve the first place of the podium in the challenge Who is the last standing and biggest GOT villain? (because the NK had already been killed off), receives one of the most ridiculous ends ever (and apparently, there is no younger brother who kills her, after all). Of course, it makes sense that the biggest GOT villain is, after all, Daenerys Targaryen: because, this is what am I supposed to buy, right? Spoiler alert, I don’t. At this point, although I perfectly know this is not what is going to happen, I almost wish Daenerys wins. But of course, she will probably be killed by Arya, another character who had an amazing storyline and has basically become so invincible and infallible to become a Mary Sue. Not only the characters: most of all, the audience deserved so much better. I honestly don’t have any hope left for the series finale. I’m not even disappointed, I’m sad.
  8. Oh boy, where do I begin? I feel like this is going to be a long post, so I apologise in advance. Agree. I feel for Dany, honestly. She's in love with a man (who loves her back, but still) and she just found out not only he's her nephew, but that he could have a better claim to the Iron Throne, which has been the only thing that gave her life a purpose so far. And since she loves this man, she brought all her people to Winterfell in order to fight and win the WW, instead to fight Cersei right away and win the Throne (because let's face it, back then Cersei had 0 chance to win, but now her chances are definitively higher). Meanwhile, because of Jon's request to help them, Dany lost: one of her dragons to the Night King, Ser Jorah Mormont (who genuinely loved her) and more than half of her men (most of the Dothraki anyway). By the end of this episode, she also lost ANOTHER dragon and Missandei, her best friend. Meanwhile, the man she loves basically rejected her because: 1) well... she's his aunt 2) most of all, I think the issue of his lineage is what holds him back the most. Probably he feels like he's betraying her just by being a Targaryen. And now, she even feels questioned, judged ad not trusted by her counsellors. Specially Varys who (coherently, at least) only supported the realm not a king and seems to be ready to ditch her. (On a side note, I don’t judge him for the importance he gives to have a king as opposed to have a queen: let’s not forget GOT is based upon a feudal society and it was indeed true that men were seen more favourably than women. As a woman I completely disagree, but that it was, unfortunately, true back then. I judge him because he wants to betray her already, not because of the times he lives in). I believe that Dany feels like she's the loneliest person in the world at the moment and she has all the rights to feel that way. Even the show highlighted this fact, when at dinner she looked around herself and she was the only person alone while Tyrion was drinking and laughing with Jaime and Brienne and Jon was drinking and laughing with Sansa and Tormund. So, while I partially understand Sansa's and Arya's scepticism, I wish I agree with them but I simply don't. I don't even understand their reasoning while discussing "the last of the Starks". First, Sansa: "It's been Arya who killed the NK, not Daenerys." True. But Sansa, how many chances do you think Arya would have had if it weren't for Dany's armies AND dragons? At least, Arya gets that. But then she disappoints me too saying: "Jon, we don't trust her." I get it, they don't know her. But they did not even try, while Dany did. During that scene and the previous one around the table, my impression was that both Arya and Sansa were just trying to buy some time to find a way to NOT support Daenerys’ war. Even Sansa’s (right) suggestion to let the men rest falls in this category, in my opinion, which is probably how Dany read it too. Apparently, they all already forgot they were not entitled to Daenerys’ help, and when she decided to go to Winterfell, she chose the greater good instead of her own good (i.e., going directly to King's Landing, killing Cersei and take the Iron Throne). Dany is far from being perfect or 100% right, but I honestly don’t know what I would do in her place. In any case, I believe nobody has yet to arrange/suggest a marriage between her and Jon for 2 reasons: 1) it would immediately and peacefully solve the issue, which unfortunately is not what D&D want and 2) at the moment I think neither of them has the courage to propose to the other. But who knows, probably finding out that Dany is pregnant (just speculation) could speed things up... I, too, believe that Jaime didn’t go to King’s Landing because he wants to be with Cersei, rather because he doesn’t believe he deserves someone as good as Brienne and because, in order for him to have a chance to be happy with her, he needs to play a part in the demise of Cersei. When at first I realised he was about to stay in Winterfell with Brienne, I thought it was too good to be true, to be honest. I’m not afraid to admit I wish he and Brienne could find some happiness together. Love them. Agree. However, I don’t really think Tyrion was being naive again here, but I think he tries to talk to her as a last resort. He’s one of the few people, if not the only person (not even Jaime) who is able to “reach” her, at least judging by the fact that she had multiple occasions to kill him directly and, in the end, she never did. And his words moved her, for a moment (gosh, Lena Heady is sooo good). Unfortunately, as much as I hate her, Cersei is another tragic character who by now believes has no other goal in her life than being the b**tch she is and kill everyone around her. I really wish someone asks her what she truly believes her life will be, once Daenerys and all her enemies are defeated. Cersei’s only purpose in life is conflict: once the conflict is resolved (of course, if she wins), what does she have?
  9. Agree with both posts, 100%. Love Arya too, but stating that she's the Saviour with capital S while all the other players proved to be basically useless or dumb is simply not true. They all fought a war and gave everything they could, in my opinion. Hadn't been for Jon, Arya wouldn't even know that Valyrian Steel can kill WW in the first place.
  10. Loved the episode, but I could barely tolerate the anxiety! I was all: “No Jaime, nooooo... Brienne, be careful! Arya get the hell out of there! Dany, where’s Dany? No, Jon!!!” and so on, screaming at my tv with both hands on my face. Anyway. Arya was phenomenal, no doubt about that. You go, girl!!! BUT, as Bran pointed out on different occasions, we should not forget that “everything that happened before led to that moment”. Therefore, Arya killed the NK, but she managed to get there because she wasn’t dead yet. And she wasn’t dead yet because Beric and The Hound saved her, because outside the castle all the people involved in the battle bought the time needed to get out of the castle and so on. Rather than “oh wow, Arya saved the day, everyone else was so useless!”, I’d say that Arya saving the day was the peak of a common effort to win the war. My opinion, of course. Littlefinger’s dagger is the king of the Cechov’s guns: it was there in Season 1 to kill Bran and, in Season 8, it actually killed the NK. 🙂 For some reason, I always liked the idea of Sansa/Tyrion: this episode reminded me that. Facing the death together, they really look like a couple for the first time. As I expected, the “political” battle will give closure to Game of Thrones more than the Great War. Which is fine. (Still, disappointed in the NK: if I were him, I would have headed to King’s Landing; at the end of the day he was almost easy to kill). To sum up, characters still alive: Jon, Dany, Tyrion, Sansa, Jaime, Brienne, Arya, Gendry, Podrick, Grey Worm, Missandei, Varys, Tormund, Davos, Sam, Gilly and The Hound. Did I forget someone? Hence, Tyrion was right: they were not ALL about to die. An unexpected great news, even though we lost the whole Mormont house (so sorry for Jorah and Lyanna). Are the 2 remaining dragons both ok?
  11. I second the question: why is everyone so sure that someone is going to betray Daenerys? Did I miss something, too? As for the Tyrell, I only remember Margeary wanting Sansa to marry her brother Loras (who died with her and their father, i.e. Lady Olenna's son, in the final episode of season 6, all of them killed by Cersei in the temple). Then Twyin Lannister decided to give Loras to Cersei and that Sansa had to marry Tyrion.
  12. Yeah, I agree with both you and Tyrion. Most of the characters' fate is still tied to the fate of the Iron Throne or still have to complete their arc. Jon and Dany are both safe IMO (they still have a lot to sort out and I doubt they'll have the chance to do it in battle). The same goes for the Hound (he has yet to face his brother) and I'd dare to say both Jaime and Tyrion (because of Cersei). Characters who I don't think will die next episode but, at the same time, I can't say they're 100% safe: Sansa, Brienne (I wish she and Jaime end up together but, rationally, her story could be over), Arya (same: I wish she and Gendry get some sort of happy ending, but at the same time I don't see her character really having anything else to tell), Gendry (see Arya, although he's the only living Baratheon, which could play in his favour) Bran, Davos, Varys, Sam. Characters I (unfortunately) feel will die next episode: Theon, Jorah, Grey Worm/Missandei, Tormund, Dolorius Ed, Beric, Podrick. However, it really all depends on th Night King: if he's going to show up in Winterfell, then most characters will still be alive by the end of the battle because if they win they would still have to fight Cersei for the Iron Throne. But if the Night King is heading South to King's Landing playing the dear old misdirection trick (which is something I would do if I were him)... then everything could really happen, since there will no longer be any Iron Throne. Basically yes. Let's not forget he spent the whole episode avoiding her, it's been Dany who found him in tha crypts. And Dany asked him about Lyanna and mentioned Rhaegar. How could he NOT tell her, considering she inadvertently brought th subject up? I agree. I always thought the issue with the WW had to be solved way before the actual end in King's Landing. Speaking for myself, I always liked the idea of Arya/Gendry, hence I'm glad they had that moment. I personally felt uncomfortable seeing naked someone who, for some reason, I still see as a little girl, not the fact she chose to have sex. I would've felt the same if I had to watch Bran getting naked: I've been watching these 2 kids since they were children and I see them as some sort of nephews. 😄
  13. I need a re-watch, but overall loved the season finale. First, Jon & Dany: we knew it was coming, we know they're related... but I love them regardless and I am not ashamed to admit it! Sorry, not sorry! They look like a match made in heaven, they're so beautiful together, they do have TONS of chemistry and, considering the short time, I bought that they fell for one another. The romantic side of me appreciated how they highlighted that, in a show where sex has always been often overexposed, the moment between Jon and Dany was much more, from the way they look at the each other during the act itself, to the "he loved her" (cut to Jon) "and she loved him" (cut to Dany). There is not much love in GOT and, for once, we are facing two people in love, which is almost refreshing! My only complaint, as already stated upthread, is that they only show 30 seconds. :) I found this scene funny :D : Jon: We should sail together... to give a better impression (looking longingly at Dany) Jorah: Or you can fly to Winterfell with your Dragon, to be safer (please choose my approach, Khaleesi!) Jon: It's your choice, of course... but we should totally sail together (another look and no subtlety) Dany: We'll sail together (looking back at Jon the same way he does) Jorah: #%?^£" I want to believe that Tyrion's look catching Jon going to Daenerys was not jealousy, at least unless stated otherwise. I hope so, because I don't see the point for Tyrion developing feelings for Dany, from a narrative POV. Maybe he's worried, even though I can't see why: Jon and Dany could get married and nobody could really believe is a wrong idea, since their alliance it would be officially cemented (even Littlefinger, before dying, discussed with Sansa the option of an alliance by marriage). Granted, this is all until Bran/Sam inform Jon that he's Aegon Targaryen. We'll see what happen then, even though I strongly believe Jon won't be interested in ruling the 7 kingdoms, if they all survive the war. Most of all now, that he and Dany are in love and supposedly an item. I am SO relieved that Sansa and Arya were just pretending in order to sentence Littlefinger to death. Good riddance! However, I still have the impression that they argued in private, most of the times: how could Littlefinger know about their private confrontation? Little birds? In any case, the scene was awesome. Lord Baelish was taken completely off guard. Good job, girls + (still creepy) Bran! Am I the only one who, for a moment, mistook Rhaegar for Viserys? They really looked the same. The big meeting was amazing: almost the whole cast was in the same scene, IIRC the last time it happened was in the pilot. Loved it. Great interactions overall: Jaime/Brienne (she can still move him!), Brienne/The Hound, Tyrion/Bronn, Dany/Cersei, Tyrion/Jaime and then Tyrion/Cersei... oh right, Jon/Dany too! :D Cersei was about to kill both her brothers, this episode. So glad that Jaime finally left her! So... the Night King destroyed the Wall with "his" new dragon. Poor Dany, she's going to be heartbroken when she'll see WW/Viseryon. Now they're all seriously f***ed.
  14. Not only it's fake, but it's clearly been written after episode 7x03... too many references to "The Queen's Justice" to be legit. :)
  15. What an amazing episode! Gosh, I'm gonna miss this show! I saw lots of comments about Sansa being jealous of Arya. Personally, I don't think so. Sansa never wanted to master the sword, as well as Arya never wanted to be a "Lady". Their personalities always balanced each other, hence I don't see why any of them should be jealous. It was my impression that, instead, Sansa looked worried and surprised: I guess she couldn't believe her own eyes seeing Arya fighting so impressively. And probably realized how much they missed of each other's lives, to the point that they're quite different from the bickering sisters they used to be. I liked their reunion and I also loved that they hugged twice. :) As for Arya and Brienne, it was nice but as far as I'm concerned I think scenes like these waste the precious time of a very short season (as much as I'm loving it, S7 would have benefited from a longer season, 7 episode are really few). As many of you already mentioned, the battle was awesome. I'm usually not into battle scenes in movies or tv shows, but GoT makes me love them. I got shivers down my spine when I heard the Dothraki approaching and wow, they were absolutely frightening! I appreciated that little touch of the Lannister soldier trembling in fear. And that was even before Daenerys and Drogon gloriously appeared on my screen! With this episode I understood once more how much I love Dany's character even though, maybe too many times, I read comments that clearly show double standard, as far as she's concerned. That said, as much as I root for her ( and the Starks, and Tyrion etc.), and even though I want Jaime to finally abandon Cersei once and for all (and find his road to redemption), I reliazed I don't want him to die, at least not now. I know he's not dead and he will be saved for sure, but you know what I mean. His arc is far from being over and his death can wait, for now. This is exactly how I see them, too. And it's also the reason why I could not understand why so many people were ready to see Jon and Sansa hooking up "because they are ONLY cousins": yes, that's true, but they have also been raised as brother and sister. Jon and Daenerys just met and do not even know they are related. For me, this is the huge difference between them and Jaime/Cersei, even though normally I don't root for incests, lol! Someone wondered upthread about the average viewer's reaction to Jon and Daenerys getting together (my apologies for not remembering who). If the average viewer is someone who watches the show but never read the books, nor googled about it, I think everything will be ok. People like my colleagues, some friends, and even my 75 yrs old mother love the show, but are not aware of anything else except of what the show clearly points out. Which means that, in this case, while all of them understood that Jon is actually Lyanna Stark's son, at the same time nobody caught that bit of info about Rhaegar Targaryen being his father. Daenery's older brother. And no, not Viserys, the one who died with a golden crown. The other one. Yes, she had another brother who died before the beginning of the show... I think you all get my point. GoT is a wonderful show, but not the easiest to follow. :) These viewers will probably find out that Jon and Daenerys are related when Bran tells Jon, and maybe Jon and Dany will be already a couple by then. In any case, in that cave, for a moment I thought Dany was about to propose to Jon, too, ahah! Jokes aside, I don't know why nobody came up with the idea of a marriage between the two yet, in order to cement their alliance once and for all. It would actually be the perfect solution to many issues, most of all the "bend the knee" one.
