  1. Michelle, here’s a quick shot of self-esteem or whatever you need to not feel the need to compromise yourself. Unless, of course, you knew you had a great dessert up your sleeve. Then instruct the servers to give certain judges the plates you think best. And keep your pineapple for your dish!

Laura bogarted the budget, but I didn’t think she was a villain for that. Selfish, you bet. But this backstory—yikes—sounds like a contributing factor.

Manny has gone downhill since his mole. How do you screw up a tenderloin?

  2. The editor don’t like Laura. And I don’t like that she wasn’t asked to put back the $$$ ingredient for her second dessert—you’re screwing a teammate, yo. Not a winner’s edit (no matter how many times Tom insists the cheffies make sure they’re the last one standing.

Congrats, Dan and thanks to your teammates for their support.

Kevin from France has a female fiancé (girlfriend.), so last week, when he and Manny said they were the bottom brothers, guess they meant in the standings.

Kristin’s wardrobe tonight needed help. She doesn’t need to emulate Padma, but let’s speak to the stylist.

  3. LOL, just like most HGTV shows, scripted, producer-driven and not as the “story” is presented. The trade is seeing locations and designs. Especially the non-cookie-cutter ones. Few, non-cookie-cutter ones.

Adding high-end, artisan-made materials was a choice—instigated or approved by the clients. The side story was Dave building stuff and Jenny’s “deal” shopping. Like the expensive headboard? Or maybe that was her choice—to not buy an affordable headboard but an expensive door and make it a TV project. Still think she’s a pill. ACK, THESE NAPKINS! The editors are over her.

Craftsman came from the Arts and Crafts movement, and features distinct rooms vs. open plan.

I knew someone who lived in a real Craftsman home in that area—filled with Stickly and Greene & Greene furniture (from estate sales, etc.). Beautiful if not soft and cushy (my preference;-)

  5. I recorded it so I could ff through the stupid stuff and ads.

WTAF was that wine window? Yes, I ve seen them in Florence. With a ton of foot traffic and full-time wine pourers. Here? A joke. With a shaky ladder someone uses one-handed while holding a glass of wine. Idiots.

$500 for a headboard? LOL! Goofballs.

Budget management was totally unprofessional, but keeping with these two.

What I learned? Jenny is a pill. You may already have known that.

  6. Twitter was filled with rage tweets from people who tuned into see Billy Joel at MSG and got “boring procedural, WTF is this lame sh*t, another CBS bore-fest” and those asking why CBS couldn’t have just put in a half-hour comedy and started Billy on time because who cared about this run-of-the-mill show.

I mention this because that last half hour was all I saw and it wasn’t good. At all. Predictable. Very low energy. Justin looked uncomfortable.

And also, the concert went so long that CBS Chicago cut away during Piano Man at 10:30 for the news. Ack! No Just the Way You Are. 😡🤬

  7. Now that’s what I thought this series would be like. #3 was so over-the-top.
Was her entire family staying often? Or moving in. Nice change, though, from the houses that David oohs over (because the people are nice) but would be called gut jobs on Hh.

Lake Mendoza was all over Top Chef  this week, too. Sorry there wasn’t a Wright house on the market.

Why is she even a prosecutor?  She frequently seems to have a bleeding heart for the defendants.  Wouldn't she be happier in life if she were a defence attorney?

Shades of Serena. Get packin’, girl.

  9. Yep, story hijinks as well. Someone from the family will be minding and moving the cheese regularly. Imagine I’ve paid a lot to rent the house (how many bedrooms?) and Sr. Cheese is around early morning. Naw, the family moves in—change of plans!—because the Marrs made it so bellisimo. Whatever.

  10. I liked them (and they liked each other). For reasons covered, they’ve been in France, or Europe, for awhile. Possibly in ugly house—quickly deconstructed. And yes, his concern about the noisy dogs felt confessional.

Maybe it was her "Americans think they have everything and we havenothing' comment, which, maybe some Americans think that, but don't lump/stereotype all of us because it's just not true that we all think that.  Or her statement about getting the best health care ever.  Again, maybe, maybe not.  She certainly was taintingAmericans and America-but limit the criticism.

    1. Watched an expat in France yesterday talking about various levels/details/costs of Healthcare there. The point was everyone could get care, but for some, not in Paris, waiting six months for a scan could be a disaster. (So is no scan for you, here.)

    2. Adrian’s spiel felt completely “realtor dealing with expats.” Between her newsletter, website and YouTube videos, she’s always hustling. She definitely dialed it up here.

I hope the show continues the tradition of determining the winner by having two or three local appraisers evaluate the properties.

Heh, yeah, but in this case, I'm afraid one of those bros claims to be a real estate guy (aka, appraiser in some realtors' minds).

  12. I’m following this season here, albeit watching a few verdicts. That’s primarily because Evan and Keith are the only team that doesn’t make me 🤮.

Heres hoping the big finish is that they only win one—the one that counts. (Loved their room. The grout ding was bs. Shocked. LOL.)

  13. I can believe her getting an advanced copy. The BBC tanking it if she’d requested it? Not so much.

I wondered how much Sam really had to do with this—a lot, turns out.

have to say that the women on this episode have such great taste in clothes. I love everything all three of them are wearing.   I really love the house hunter's lovely dress in the opening scene.

She’s got great taste in clothes! The house reveal? Not as impressive, but they’ve been at her mother’s for such a long time, perhaps she hasn’t had a chance (2 jobs!) to style it yet.

I'd guess it was Erin & Ben's decision not to.

    Good on them.

I don’t have a desire to visit Laurel—or step foot in Mississippi—but I appreciated the care they took in recreating those rooms.

This could have been a season finale, so glad to see there’s an all-new ep next week (assuming all new is legit, HGTV.)

  16. In an episode in which a helium-enhanced John Oliver told states to Fucking stop killing people, you fucking assholes, the photos with Ilgar will never be forgotten.
