John mentioned something along the lines of that they might just hit their groove as the series was ending, if at all. LOL

He nailed that. The Letterman episode and the John Carpenter interview were enough to make me miss this. Not that it’s sustainable—but shout-out to Dave, the assistant director of the La Brea Tar Pits and the Earthquake Lady, LuEllen, Jon Stewart’s iPhone and Mulaney’s hair stylist.

    Hugh Dancy’s whiney voice.

So distracting, although what he says isn’t much better. I figured it’s how he locks in an American accent.

eta: Riley and Dixon were the highlight for me.

Medical debt is a horrible thing, so bringing that in was something. Although in the OG, it would have turned out to actually be the father, instead of trying to red herring him.

  3. I was concerned for Dan but all that cheese in Kevin.’s dish made me queasy.

Happy for Michelle. Loved Danny letting Laura know what was up this shop. 👀

  4. If you make it to Venice, find n out-of-the-way ristorante and order the risotto. Maybe seafood. All will be revealed.

  5. The scene in which Colter TV-magically ducks and the bad guy shoots at and misses he and the sister? So reminded me of similar scenes from back in the day (Starsky & Hutch, any number of cute leading men as cops/detectives solving crimes shows) that I laughed and changed the channel. They’d schedule fewer leading man shirtless scenes, too—more of a treat, less of an admission ticket.

Writing’s not very good. They can stop teasing me with interesting tertiary characters that are tragically underdeveloped and underused.

  6. Well, mission accomplished, that EC was chaos, alright. Not explained sufficiently, re-defined by judges who liked or disliked a dish, and championed by a likely stoned Matty M. I used to watch his Canadian cooking show on Cooking Channel (the early days when it was filled with Canadian shows) and he was goofy but harmless. Made a lot of meatloaf. Guess he was there for The Bear fans. And points for Savanah’s mustard greens dessert in your face, MM.

I'm hoping they gave the chefs more explanation that we didn't see.

Sure, but it didn’t seem like it. And producers? Start with your host. Kristin was honest about the fuckery, I’m guessing Padma would have either explained it better or killed it.

Foss, the blond guy at the table, likes to push food boundaries, sorry they only chryoned (?!) his name and not talked more about him.

Heres hoping things improve. That move to Wednesday is tough.

  7. They were so going to pick that one! Good for them, sorry for your loss, but that was some budget for a second home. It’s either going to be their primary or wtf is in Ft. Lauderdale.

Maybe being on the bay will be better come hurricane season. I don’t know much about Florida (and that’s fine by me).

The husband’s adopting David’s “boop” was a surprise.

  8. It’s ba—ack. Jon still has an 8-year-old’s sense of humor, but the bad-luck very old farmhouse they fixed up should see better days. I couldn’t follow the layout and didn’t see bedrooms or baths, but I loved the butterflies.

  9. I’m sure Tom does. As a restauranteur, he can appreciate keeping things fresh. Since we weren’t flies on the walls of the planning meeting, my sense was that Padma might have had concerns.

  10. Soo could take his whole thing. But introducing him through the back door? I wonder if executive producer Padma would have had something to say about that? As in, how disrespectful. Otoh, it’s possible that with his schedule, Soo couldn’t commit until after the cheftestants we’re announced.

  11. Ben’s furniture gets better and better.

I may have to look at LVP. That floor did look good. More economical than hardwood, I’m hoping. Softer, too, I’d guess—I love how carpeting feels, but it doesn’t wear well here (no kids or pets, go figure).

Laurel is like Manhattan? I know you love your home town, Erin, but, please.

They fooled me when #1 was sold furnished

Me, too, but by the artwork—some of it looked like Marlene’s!

Sliding glass door!! You can take us out of Detroit, but LOL! I get quizzical looks from my Chicago peeps whenever I talk about mine.

Enjoy the jetted tub, Kenny. He’s not quite as odd as in the Marlene episode and seems much more comfortable around David.

  13. Two Chicago chefs back in, so yay?

Kaleena got a lot of press when she arrived (fairly recently).  Tasty food. Not great camera presence.

But reading this  about Soo makes me glad he’s in, ringer or not. (Bet it was a last minute decision to play.) And his restaurant is walking distance with outdoor seating! Wonder if I can make a reservation a couple months in advance, because odds of getting one when this is over? LOL!

ETA: Wonder how the Dir. of Marketing at Whole Foods liked the whole paycheck shout out? 😳
