Just saw on starz that Clive Russell has been cast to play Jamie's manipulative grandfather in Season 2. Are you up to telling me why his grandfather is in Season 2. Hasn't he long been dead?? Also, if you have the generous time and will and only if it is important to the main storyline , what is the Fraser Prophesy? You are all so kind to fill us non-readers in on the details. I am a book reader but not Outlander. I learned back in the Godfather days never to read a book and then go see the movie. I am willing to read the books after the shows air.....many years from now. :) Funny, I read mysteries and never skip to the back of the book but don't mind Outlander spoilers within reason. Maybe, it is because I know the tv show may actually make a different interpretation of the book.

You are too good to me DDD :) Hope you go to Sam"s Twitter and watch the short interview he just posted. Petunia, I saw a young man doing a self tape audition as Lord John. Someone on Tumblr linked the video. They said that they knew the dialogue was from the books but were not sure that it was an official audition or just someone posting it online on their own. I will look for it but since I am an internet wanderer I may not be able to find it. The scene was in the woods where the characters first meet.

Who is Lord John Grey? Is he related to Jamie? I became intrigued after I saw the audition video? that was put online today. Thank you in advance for your always thoughtful answers.

Grashka, I am really hoping that Season two will have a poignant wrap up scene to Ransom. I hesitate to post in this thread because you are all so deeply knowledgeable about the show and especially the books....and better typers I think but......... It did bother me that Jamie looked so horrific as he crawled on the putrid cell floor and yet when Claire sees him, he has been washed. Jamie does look grubby but nothing like he did earlier in the day. I know nit picking.

Great observations on the deleted scenes, posters. :) Do any of us think that OL has created its own problem? They compiled such a talented ensemble of actors and writers etc..Then they tried/try to fit a multi-layered book into single seasons. I think, if they want to rise to classic show level, that they must include some of these type of moving deleted scenes. I couldn't recommend any scenes be cut (other than Leery's near __ for WatchrTina___ kiss). I guess, my long winded question is ,,,What scenes would you cut to make room for your favorite deleted scene?

My favorite deleted scene was in Epi.9 The Reckoning is Collum and Jamie. It showed Collum's respect and affection for Jamie. I longed for a scene underlining and clarifying that Collum wanted and considered Jamie as his successor. I felt that the Season continued to minimize Jamie's position in the Clan. Sent to the stables to work and sleep. I remembered the greetings that Ms.Fitz gave the returning Highlanders in Episode one. I waited her "special" greeting for Jamie.................which did not come. Obviously, she knew him by name, telling "Jamie" to come along.But not a big welcome. As a non-book reader, at that point, I wasn't sure just who or what Jamie was in the Clan hierarchy. I even liked the brawl scene that Jamie and Murtagh break up. Murtagh says something about Jamie acting like a Laird. Guess, I need to be happy that they didn't include the scene were Claire calls him a "stable boy". I really question why the Episode 9 Reckoning included that sappy scene between a 14 yr old leery ( misspell on purpose) and a 22 yr old man was include in an otherwise excellent episode. So many masterfully acted scenes cut to make room for it. Oh! Opportunities missed.

Thank you so much Dittydotdot. You told me exactly what I wanted to know. I even read the spoiler tag. There is some dark irony of Jamie being buried near BJR. I realize that it is a way for Claire to stumble on his stone but think that Jamie would have preferred to be in his family plot in Lallybroch. So, now I need to mull over just how Ron intends to open Season 2. Thanks again.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me. What I understand about DIA is very limited and garnered from comments and posts. So how does Claire know that Jamie is alive without the book having discussed the raising of Bree etc. I did read how she learns that Jamie is probably alive. I guess my mind works very linear and B should follow A. Grashka would you mind telling me how DIA opens in the book? I have noticed that posters have wished that the Season 2 would open that way but Ron Moore has said that it won't open as the book does. I know, I can hear posters saying, read the book now!!

Just so you know what my frame of reference is, I have watched the series many times and then read Book 1. I have not read DIA Book 2. So, I may be all wet. lol There are only 13 episodes to cover a lot of serious events that must be addressed for the continuation of the series to make sense. I want to see Jamie's 20 years without Claire, Frank raising Bree, Claire furthering her education, Culloden, Paris and Jamie becoming a good businessman after dealing with his trauma with BJR, I don't want to be cheated out of any of it. Maybe one of Ron's surprises is that there will be a season 3 and it will be the second half of DIA. Or more likely and more disappointing to me, the last two episodes 12 and 13 are like Wentworth and Ransom- a two part finale. Epi, 12 Claire travels back to 1946 has Bree and Frank agrees to raise Bree. Meanwhile, back in Scotland Jamie gets one brief scene showing him suffering. Epi. 13 You see Bree grown and with Roger. Claire has her career. Frank has met his Maker. Life goes on for Jaime as he carries his torch. Claire debates returning to Scotland to find her old love. The last scene is the blackout of the Stone travel. Oh well....on a lighter not, the audition reels that were linked to were both very good. But as a nonreader, I have no idea about Roger's personality. Murniak could be Jamie and Claire's son....built and look like Claire but sounds a lot like Jamie. The blonde Campion was very thoughtful and sweet. I liked them both.

I believe Lotte who plays Geillis did too. Ron Moore said in an interview that when they saw her audition for Claire they knew right away that she was Geillis. How do you spell that name Giellis or Geillis??????

I wondered if I knew any other nuts who were voting............I have been clicking for days from 6 AM to midnight when the computer goes to bed. I almost stop the Radio Time a week ago because, it seemed to be endless and I had never heard of it. Someone posted somewhere that RT is very big in Europe. So for Sam, I have continued clicking. E Online....is a pain in the @#$. I never want to see a waffle again. I keep reading that Cait is does not care about these fan votes. I may join her disdain. So, not being a quitter I will get back to clicking with the comfort that WatchrTina, bearcatfan, Laurie, are clicking too.

How would you draw more viewers in to the Outlander show ? My first viewing was the night of the May 30th finale. Perhaps it would be helpful to know why some of us joined the fun late? For me, I had seen a random commercial or two. I vaguely remember the tv ad as a woman crouched down behind a rock and a man with sword drawn walking around the rock. I further recall that the show spoke of time travel. I thought that as a weekly series the woman would travel to a new place or time every week. This didn't interest me because I like character driven stories. I thought the actress and actor ( Sam and Cait ) were very attractive but I did not recognize them. If I had known them and liked their previous work I would have considered checking it out. I am not a SyFy fan as rule. Maybe If I had realized how little time travel played into the story (not true from a heart string pov,,,) Or, if I had read something about the beauty of the production or, if the historical accuracy ( luv history) I might have taken the plunge. For me, it is a big commitment of time to start a new show without a hint that it will be worthwhile to me. FYI I read the entertainment section reviews in my daily big city newspaper in Houston. I read alot (too much?) on the internet for instance, Hollywood Reporter and Daily Variety I do watch various dramas and cable channels. Unfortunately, I do tend to watch OnDemand. Netflix, Amazon Prime and DVR most shows.......no commercials to watch What can Sony do or Starz to get more viewers for Outlander.

Good news Nidratime. The more publicity the better. Wish the "blurb" had included Starz. This makes me wonder how Starz or Sony should publicize the return of the series. Maybe I am/was the only obtuse tv viewer out there in the public. I am thinking that I should find a more appropriate thread to post why I did not tune in to Outlander until the night of the finale May 30th?? and then fell madly in obsession with the show and now book one.

Guess they are spending more than they make. This could be due to their expansion efforts. Or maybe, it is due to the lavish French scenery in Outlander's Season 2. lol I also read that Starz has reached a deal with AT&T Uverse for broadcast. All good news.

I have sadly come to realize that Jamie Fraser's life has elements of a Greek Tragedy. Can he never have joy for more than the length of a beautiful climax? The thought that he would selflessly send his pregnant beloved back to Frank and then live through the demise of his culture and miss seeing his only legitimate child grow up is a real DG "grotesque" life. I have more to say but this is enough for now.

While I can understand the emotional scenes that would be possible from the death of their first baby, is this part of the book necessary to the main story line? The scenes of Jamie and Claire comforting each other might bring them closer emotionally but would it be one of those scenes that someone posts--- it could have been cut in order to include something else--?
