Plus, I'm not sure what the protocol is if he purchases a stake of Las Vegas

I've said this often over the years, but... "What a very lovely football game!" Too follow up on the above from JTMacc99, all of a sudden Dan Quinn may no longer be a hot HC candidate!

No chance on Belichick to Dallas. It would be like Baltimore or Cincinnati firing Harbaugh and Taylor, and then Bill Cowher filling the vacant spot It's more likely that we'll see Jerry fatally strangle McCarthy, and following that, trying to strangle that lifeless guy before being held back and dragged away for the second and final time
-
Still another half, but if Green Bay can escape (easier chance than the opening kickoff), a 2 seed would be absent from the NFL Divisional Round for the first time. The last time there was playoff expansion it took a year for the 3 seed to miss the same round for the first time, until this game is over at the very least, it's 3 years and counting

I'm sorry but is there any chance I can send my earlier comment to Canton?
-
I think that was just 14 to 1 in terms of plays within one's opponent's territory

There's still a lot of time, but I figured that this would be the year where a 2 seed isn't part of the Divisional Round for the first time. I just figured that it would be the Rams doing the deed, and against Philadelphia before Dallas or Detroit. Speaking of which, if Green Bay can escape, there is a chance that a 5 seed could host a playoff game for the first time. Detroit would have to lose though, but if they do, then the winner of Monday night's game full of underperforming & banged up players would get a home game. BTW, Lamb18, you probably do not have to root for the next team that would play the Packers. However, they still have to play the game, but barring an injury to one player in particular, you'll be fine. Still, I expect these 2 seeds to take out their frustrations on the team that wrecked their open date. The scoring margin is pretty high, but not higher thanks to Buffalo. Speaking of which, that's wishful thinking they're done tomorrow

FWIW, I thought that the Steelers were going to get that SNF slot for sure. They tend to put them there; after all, they still are a big deal when it comes to money, ratings and what not. They're not Dallas or Green Bay, but the market & base is still huge (and tops in the AFC). However, Mason Rudolph and NO Watt vs Allen and Diggs isn't a decent draw, and Detroit/Los Angeles is a much better alternate game than Bucs/Eagles was 2 years ago (when I thought that Steelers/KC was going to be an awful game, which is was). I still wished they would've put Bills/Steelers on at 1:00 on Saturday, 01/13/2024. They revived that slot for the first time in a couple decades upon their move to 14 teams in the playoffs. That would've been a better bet over dragging that out. Regardless, I'm a little surprised that the NFL didn't push the other games up 90 minutes. 3:00 and 6:30 for Dallas/Green Bay and Detroit/LA respectively would've been decent over waiting 4-5 hours for action to start (which happened 7 years ago)

Not a great day to start the postseason. One rout and another game where it was just "whatever" for me. Still, it's the postseason, and I imagine that things will get better before the weekend ends. Though I really only see one, maybe 2 games that are expected to be great, and that's it. Rams/Lions has the potential to be the best game of the Wild Card weekend. Maybe Packers/Cowboys could also be very good. Speaking of which: that's a big game. As mentioned, it hasn't been a decent weekend so far. It's still possible that all six games end up being horrible. People will think that'll lead to league changing things. Sure the NFL will change things. That change would be two games each day and doing away with a 5-day rest period. Thanks to the fact that it might occur unintentionally this postseason. So much for competitive advantage. Yet, Dallas still can't take advantage of being on the right side of it. On a related note, no matter how awful this weekend might turn out to be, it'll turn out to be a great weekend with a Packers win...and at least a couple other things. Nothing would thrill me more if Dallas is trailing by 3 with a chance to kick a FG or win outright in regulation. Instead of the sure automatic field goal, they catch Green Bay off guard, go for the fake, and either a wide open Lamb drops it, or he catches it. With the latter, he slips & falls at the 1-yard line, and time expires in the 4th quarter. Stunned silence at AT&T. Then cut to the Cowboys owner crunched down, head down, and crying on television. What Mr. Jones did not know (or maybe Jerry did) is that the box is mic'd. So I can hear his sobbing, or maybe not since I'd be laughing to where I couldn't hear it. Either way, everybody else can hear it. So after several fan camera shots looking stunned over the outcome and their leader's reaction, FOX cuts to a stunned Kevin & Greg looking at the camera speechless, then cuts to a stunned Erin looking at the camera speechless, after that a stunned Rinaldi looking at the camera speechless, followed by FOX cutting to the studio to a stunned Curt, Jay Glazer (solo shot), & Michael looking at the camera speechless (while TB is drinking at the same time AND Jimmy just shrugs & puts his hands in a way that signals oh well, and then Howie just shaking his head). Then back to that grown man sobbing before Kevin & Greg recover and bring it back to wrap things up. Whatever happens with the other games, happens. Though seeing Dallas losing however they lose would be great TV for sure!

I'll admit: I'm not as sympathetic as several, and that's because I have Peacock. However, I totally understand why several did not make the move for it. For one football game. That being said, I do not have any patience with those that purchase Starbucks coffee (daily). Maybe I would, but if you get that daily, then I couldn't feel sorry if I tried. If cost is the issue, then it doesn't make sense to me. For me, it worked since there is a ton of decent content with Peacock. Ditto Paramount. I know someone that was okay with it tonight due to being out of town, where he was in a hotel that didn't have NBC local for some reason. It was during The Open (final golf major), so he took the dive. The rest is history. Peacock or NBC: tonight's game was still not good. It was just alright/meh/blah to me

How bout them Dolphins! As twoods mentioned, there was no reason to bring up faux situations like Swift outside for Travis in the cold. Taylor sitting outside instead of the BOX (where she was every game she attended) would've been nothing more than a publicity stunt. Sorta reminded me of Ben and Jennifer outside during a Packers Game not too long ago. NO Chance

If there was any Karma, it was how the Browns players treated the Terrible Towel. I think Houston beating Cleveland was more do to one team being better while the other was just happy to be there. Either way, no "Karma" here. After all, the guy who was traded from the Lonestar State to the Buckeye State was a non-story. While I still think Baltimore will topple Houston, they're much better than in Week One. It could be 76-0 or 28-27, but both in favor of the Ravens. Home game, trying to avenge 2019. So much at stake. And if football is scripted, I'd probably live to see a Harbaugh double dip

Might be someone whose name either rhymes with Dodger Woodell or Barry Stones

I'm happy for him as well. I probably would've been happier if I took Houston to cover instead of Cleveland & the Points. Though I so forgot who was favored by 1.5 points. That probably is a money line move when the spread is that close. I know that roamyn probably isn't happy, and for once I actually admired Cleveland. First time I admired all 3 teams in the division. Helps when you have a guy like Flacco whose boring reputation is a good thing. No drama, nothing on or off the field. Family man. Things didn't work out it seems, but they got to this point after nearly a half dozen QB's in one season. I'll probably have to respect those that'll say the Browns would've lost to Baltimore anyway, but I might disagree there. Houston is like an NFC team. No experience facing Lamar Jackson like the Browns, Bengals, and Steelers have. So getting rid of one of the only teams that could knock off the Ravens is huge. Pittsburgh is the other, but, like Miami, I think their season ends by Tuesday. Even though they did sweep the AFC North champions, it's not 2008. At best, they'd keep it close but Tucker wins it for them. Despite that, based on playoff success & experience, while they might not stop Jackson, I don't know if anyone from Baltimore can deal with Allen unless Josh goes down. KC does have a great defense, which might be enough if Mahomes & Kelce improve a little. So historically speaking, I'd have taken the Steelers or Browns to beat the Ravens, but realistically speaking, I'd go with Kansas City or Buffalo. In the NFC, just the Rams, and that's it
-
There are still 5 wildcard games left, and Houston just sent Baltimore to their first ever home AFC Title Game
-
The following, while courtesy of Tim Graham, came up in my timeline via Alex Kozora. The latter has connections to the Steelers

I hope so too, but I would not be surprised if they kept Baltimore on Saturday. Over the past decade and a half, the league loved to give the top seed that extra rest benefit. I think 2 of the times they didn't were when New England was the second seed in ('13 & '15 when Denver played on Sunday). I believe it's stated somewhere that teams have to get a full 5 days rest. That's why it's been 4 vs 5. You probably couldn't have Houston/Cleveland on Monday since it's unlikely that Pittsburgh or Miami win, whereas in the NFC it's possible Los Angeles will win. Same Green Bay, but probably not. There would be fake sympathy from the NFL stating that this was a tough call due to extreme conditions, and the fact that it's not a Monday NIGHT game. Just a Monday game in the afternoon. Finally, I'd prefer the league to announce with more effort that we are closing monitoring the situation & gathering more info (like they do when there's someone in the NFL that's about to get into trouble after getting into trouble off the field). Just say it's possible for a time change instead of, "We have no plans to move the game & plan to play it as scheduled."
-
Tonight's game is definitely more dangerous. I don't know what the conditions are on Sunday afternoon, but I also don't know if the players are complaining to where they'll take their life concerns to court. I'd guess they'd never do that, but then they might after the fact. Snow I admire. Cold isn't good but I'd prepare to the best of my ability. Winds (with cold and/or snow)? That is a hard pass for me
-
Because the league sucks at making decent decisions. Yet 7 years ago they moved up Kansas City/Pittsburgh game with much more inferior weather
-
From Washington To Alabama
-
The Pistons could be playing a replica of themselves, after adding 30 years to those players. They'd still find a way to lose the game
-
Meh. It's possible it's due to the Belichick thing & wanted to give his thoughts in the aftermath of it. If he shows up beyond that & prior to next year, then it would be a bogus "suspension" for AR12. Though regardless, Aaron hardly faced New England so there's that
-
Belichick in Tampa would be...I guess that would be okay
