  1. My prediction for who will win. 1. Bindi 2. Alek 3. Nick There's no way in hell Alek should be Top 3, so I'm assuming he's getting the patriotic vote, not votes because of his dancing. Bindi's win was pre-ordained from the jump, so that leaves Nick in third. Who SHOULD win? Nick. Alex as I said straight up shouldn't be there and Bindi is a 17 year old agile, petite blank slate; not a 35 year old who's been performing (and dancing, to an extent) since he was 12 and is considerably more worse for wear than her. Couple that with having to UNLEARN bad habits, Nick's had an AMAZING run. Nick has had a JOURNEY and isn't that what DWTS is supposed to be about? It's not about someone who was good and stayed good the entire time. Bindi can dance yes, but she's also had an easier road than Nick.
  2. Technically, she's not a good singer. I took lessons for many years and was in choirs for about 8 and she's got a very nasally tone - the hallmark of a singer with bad technique. Not to say she doesn't have talent, but she's not singing correctly.
  3. Oh goodness the Tommy reveal was fabulous, the only time Girl made me cry actual tears. I had read a spoiler about it (someone on my Twitter literally tweets out "TOMMY!!!" a couple days before the episode) but I didn't know in what context he'd be in it. I did recognize him in Topanga's, so I was anxious to see how he'd reveal himself. Will Friedle NAILED NAILED NAILED that reaction. They need to keep Tommy (I refuse to refer to him as "T.J.") around whenever Eric shows up. Tommy's presence automatically humanizes Eric and brings him down to his mid-series sweet spot and prevents the writers from going full season 7 with him. I also was astounded by how much characterization they gave Tommy; they could do a lot with that. JB Gaynor is now on Twitter and he seems game, so I really hope he sticks around.
  4. Still, Whenever we see Topanga she's relegated to the Matthews' kitchen with Auggie and Ava. When does she work exactly? They need to show her in a work environment so maybe the kids visit her office after school sometimes. They could put it on the level about the bakery.
  5. Topanga is a lawyer in name only, at least compared to Cory's teaching. She should have a lawyer set but instead is only shown essentially as a stay-at-home mom most of the time. They only refer to the fact that she's a laywer. They've only shown her being one once and it was a case she wasn't even on. Shawn has zero reason to come off superior to Katy, but that's how they're writing it. Who does he think he is throwing money around like that acting all saviour-y? Katy does have all those responsibilities but instead of showing her has a strong woman who gets shiz done, they show Shawn coming in and being a white knight. MAYA SAID WITH KATY STANDING THERE that no other person has ever cared so much for her when he made the comment (that probably wasn't even a genuine concern of his) about her clothes. While Katy did take exception to it, Maya didn't apologize or anything and they wrote Shawn as the one to point out how important Katy is instead of her asserting that for herself or Maya recognizing it.
  6. Can you exalt people on this board? Because holy balls. LOVE. ALL. OF. THIS.
  7. The way the characters were written demonstrated how a man (Shawn) was superior to a woman (Katy). Portraying females as inferior to males is also misogynistic. This episode was written by a man not surprisingly. Katy is being written inconsistently and I think that’s where the air of misogyny comes from. In one breath she expresses discontent with Shawn’s actions, but then Shawn responds with charm (“can’t we just have a good day?”, “I dress the kid up a little bit!”) & she almost immediately submits even though she had very very valid concerns. Maybe it’s cause she’s crushing on Shawn but if something more organic changed Katy’s mind I’d feel better about it. They’re writing Shawn as superior to Katy both financially and intellectually to me whilst writing Katy as downtrodden. I wish they made a point of saying whether or not Katy paid Shawn back for the locket money
  8. Angela absolutely could have been a part of this "World" had she been introduced as married to Shawn. She relates to Maya the exact same way Shawn does because she was also abandoned by a parent. Shawn and Angela could've both been adult mentorish figures for Maya and showed her that in spite of being left, you can overcome it and maintain a healthy marriage/relationship (cause I'm SURE those issues will come up for Maya in the future). Angela could even do that if her and her husband were introduced. If the show also wanted to continue the Cory/Topanga Shawn/Angela juxtaposition (something I'm not a fan of personally) they could've had Shawn and Angela display a conversely more difficult/realistic marriage than Cory and Topanga.
  9. But Cory and Topanga know that's not what went down. By having them not convey in any way the reality surrounding Angela's leaving, it's like they agree that she callously left him when she didn't. Retcon.
  10. If anyone's interested, I wrote a blog post about my thoughts on Hurricane and Shawngela on gmwpodcast.com: http://gmwpodcast.com/2015/06/25/he-still-loves-you-donna-karan/
  11. Pretty positive Ava and Auggie will be the Corpanga of the show. May God save all of us.
  12. I'm still a little confused about what you've said Pink. You mentioned there's no acknowledgement of Riley, but the stills shows there is. Maybe you didn't see everything.
  13. Yes she does. Her mom left her just like Maya's dad left her. Why can't they relate on this level instead of having Angela be a person who's going to come in and "ruin everything"?
  14. That isn't an excuse. They don't need to get into it, a simple throwaway line from someone going "well Shawn, it wasn't that simple..." would have sufficed for me. It would get across to the new audience that there was more to the story, even if they don't know what it is. As of right now, new fans are going in to Hurricane with guns blazing cause they think Angela is this bitch who left Shawn, the comments are all over Facebook and Entertainment Weekley articles and on Twitter so it doesn't even matter how she comes across in it, the damage is done. The lack of exposition in this episode is the same as continuing to portray her as a villian cause none of what was said in the previous episodes is refuted. All this does is make it easier for the audience the show cares about to accept a Shawn/Katy paring. People are for it based solely on an unfair representation of Angela. It's an intentional, bitch move on the writer's part, or on the part of any brass at Disney who may have influenced this decision.
  15. I think it's right for Shawn to think this way and somewhat justified, but if it was not a statement on Angela's character they would have Cory or Topanga point out that Angela "leaving" Shawn was more complicated than he's remembering. He specifically said "she ended it and walked out on me" in Pluto, that isn't true & Corpanga know that, but they just sat there.
  16. Right, the retcon of her being a leaver is being used as a bonding point for Shawn & Katy and they are COMPLETELY ignoring the fact that Shawn is WAY more of a leaver than her and he's very very likley to leave both Katy and Maya because of his own issues. To cover that up and act like Shawn is in any way suitable to be someone's father is lunacy. Shawn's not a great person. He's a leaver, he never owns up to his faults, he lives in a perpetual poor me state and has a predilection for alcohol and has been shown to get violent because of it. To whitewash ALL of that and drag Angela down JUST so Maya can potentially learn a lesson about not parent-trapping two people is nuts.
  17. I'm a HUGE Shawngela shipper and even I'm OK with them not ending up together. I AM NOT OK WITH Angela being used as a weapon to prop Shawn & Katy. I think it's a disgusting disregard to Boy Meets World fans and will stop watching after Hurricane because of it. Michael Jacobs DID NOT need to do that. I do think this is partly Disney's influence. What the hell? Trina's not happy about it. We follow each other on Twitter and she'll frequently chime in on conversations fans are having, and she'll RT things we say, seemingly in agreement.
  18. Her return is utterly unnessesary it's almost -- no it is -- cruel to have Trina and Rider acting together again with the AMAZING (whether you're a Shawngela shipper or not, you know they jived) undeniable chemistry they have, just to take it away. Shawn & Angela broke up 15 years ago.
  19. What a let down. I'm out after this episode. If I wanna watch it I'll do it online. If the writers aren't going to respect the relationships Boy Meets World cultivated I'm not going to respect them. Trina's appearence is being treated so differently than the other Boy characters, they are being celebrated, Angela is being treated like an annoying afterthought.
  20. It would be even worse if Shawn and Katy don't happen unfortunately. That means everything that goes on with Angela would've happened for no reason at all.
  21. What an unbelievable waste of Angela. She's being used to prop Shawn and Katy? WHAT THE HECK? Why does she need to tell Shawn she's thinking of having children with her husband? Her entire motivation for going to NYC is bizarre. I think what makes me the most upset is how grossly overhyped this episode is. The writers are misleading the Boy Meets World audience cause they need them to tune in still for this show to stay afloat. I'm calling it now that once the show gains its legs the claim that Girl will maintain the integrity of the original show will be forgotten. Boy characters will be forgotten and Cory and Topanga will be as significant as Sabrina's aunts in the later seasons of Sabrina The Teenaged Witch.
