Carol Potter is a gem. A GEM. I will say that when I was at college in the early 90s, at least SOMEONE at the registrar's office had no trouble handing out my address to a super sketchy dude that I did not want to have it, so the scenario isn't as implausible as one might think.

I hope the parents of all of these people have quietly moved and changed their phone numbers and left no forwarding address.

I really think that Daniel may have a form of mental illness which he has translated into paranormal sensitivity (I am not a believer; I don't think they're scammers in the classic sense, but I do think they're misguided) and which he is self-medicating. If he doesn't get help to deal with his voices in some other way- not by deciding he does not have second sight or the like, as that would leave him without a worldview, but perhaps a sensitive psychiatrist could help him find positive ways to manage it- then I think the potential for him to backslide is always going to be very strong.

I'm not sure how this works for family court matters, but in most civil litigation, the parties can choose to be present or not at a witness's deposition. Usually it's just lawyers and the witness, and the lawyers Strongly Discourage their clients from saying anything if they're not the ones being deposed. Mel's comments would be part of the court reporter's record of the proceeding and his lawyer would probably call a break and hustle him out to cool his jets.

I recall relating to her better than the other kids because I was an uptight nerd myself, but I started college in 1991 and so missed out on the 90210 zeitgeist a bit. I still wouldn't have gone out of my way to watch a show about her, but maybe if they were thinking of something like Different World which turned into an ensemble piece pretty quickly?

For proof that TV has always been gross and weird: Also, a spinoff of Nana at Yale? I don't remember that but it's possible. Still, if I were a TV exec trying to pick a character to spin off from this show, that would in no way have been my first choice. Who ever watched this show for Ohhndrea?
