  1. I think the Nora Dunn Clorox ads are cringeworthy - she's bullying people into using the product, and if they were going for "funny", they really needed to be over-the-top ridiculous with it. Instead, it just comes off creepy. I don't know what Tregaliga is? Is it some kind of pharmaceutical?
  2. I agree with this. If GH is going to do some social issue thing, they at least could not have the well-off white person lead the charge and even go so far as to say she should postpone her honeymoon because she didn't want to "abandon" people. Because of course, no regular residents would be smart enough/brave enough to take on the fight. However...to get real about it...there is a tendency for certain kinds of people to do just that. I would prefer not to see it on my TV shows, though, as it is depressing enough in real life.
  3. The "Elite Singles" ads make me want to hurl or roll my eyes, or both. The guy is preening in the mirror and gets this "I'm so handsome I can't stand it" look in his eyes while the lounge singer sings "never more ready to fall in love again". So I guess the people who use this dating site are self-absorbed, somewhat sleazy jerks. The one with the woman isn't much better - she clearly thinks she's hot stuff, too. And of course there's that annoying song again. Another ad I hate is the one for Jaguar where the woman gets a frickin' Jaguar for Christmas and the first thing she says is, "Why are there so many miles on it?" Gah! What an ingrate! Then there are the ads for Wayfair - "drop the mic" where people drop their smartphones (stupid), and "done is fun" where they're all dancing around because it's so easy to buy stuff online and they got free shipping (in Wayfair's case, it's free shipping because their stuff is way overpriced to begin with). So many ads to hate.
  4. Carly siccing the Navy on Drew makes sense - great comment! Agree totally about Franco, though I know that is not a popular position on this forum. I love it when bad guys are redeemed or have good points to them (case in point, even Stefano from Days had a soft spot, and it made the character more interesting), and since tv shows are all about suspending disbelief, I have no problem with the Franco character morphing into a good (albeit troubled) guy. Also, I like RH heh. Let Liz have some happiness, I say. She has a lot of redeeming qualities. As for Jason...sorry, the character is a full-on sociopath. He's never even attempted to do the right thing or apologize for torturing/murdering people - he is just like Sonny, in my book. Regarding the "which one is the real Jason" stupidity, I think it would have been a much better story had the BM Jason been the real Jason - not only for the purpose of Carly's head exploding, but also for the exploding heads of all the whiners on a certain social media site who have been screaming "No one can be Jason but Steve Burton" ever since the dude left to play that idiot on Y&R.
  5. Stupidly, I thought she was putting the cap on some kind of receiver for a listening device she had hidden in the picture in order to spy on the household. Sigh, I am so dumb.
  6. This ad irritated me from the very first time I saw it. Not sure why it evokes such a visceral reaction out of me, but I get angry when it comes on. Maybe it's because the woman is so loud, maybe it's because she is so over-the-top. Ugh.
  7. Disclaimer: Not a fan of Jason the Thug played by any actor. Not a fan of JaSam either. Also, I like RH and Franco. Villain redemption is a big part of soapy goodness for me. Ok, here are my comments. With all the moaning and breastbeating Snarly did about how it's all her fault about Jason, and naming everyone she hurt, NOT ONCE did she mention all the pain she caused Liz, what with making her a pariah and everything. She owes Liz an apology. SBJason beating up Franco was ridiculous and pointless, as was Snarly's yelling, "It's not his fault! blah blah blah" I take this as a sign that, just like before, anything Jason does in the future, no matter how violent or out of control, will be just fine with everyone. Because a "stone cold" killer is on such higher moral ground than a serial killer who was like that due to a brain tumor?? Ain't no cure for sociopathy. Jason is never sorry for anything he does. I have a feeling I will be watching a lot less GH from now on.
  8. Having done research in AI and psychology, I can tell you that cognitive science is a multidisciplinary field, consisting of psychologists. computer scientists, philosophers, and linguists. Psychiatrists have nothing to do with it (and Freudianism was discredited decades ago). It is possible to input a corpus into an AI program and have the program generate responses based on the corpus and the machine learning it does, and it is replicable. That being said, we are light years away from recreating complete human beings - either in thoughts or memories - and certainly it's not possible at this point to input a corpus into a live human being.
  9. I can't stand Snarly but I always thought LW was a very good actress. She was brilliant in the "Old GH" thing they did during that whole Luke debacle.
  10. Ha! I thought the exact same thing! I mean, Obrecht DID make that Doctor Who reference during the whole "Tom Baker" storyline...
  11. That made me roar with laughter! Thanks!
  12. And it does suck, too. Tears for Fears...loved them. Even Macy's doesn't get a pass from me on this.
  13. Oh my gosh, I recall that book! So funny! Thanks for the memory.
  14. I'd actually like to see Dr. O completely get away with something, I guess because I like Kathleen Gatti so much. Let some other characters go scott free, like Sonny does all the time.
  15. A nurse wouldn't do something like that. As insulting as GH can be, I think that would be too much, even for them.
  16. Yeah, he was doing that - but oh, for someone who has an easily triggered gag reflex, I can't hit the remote fast enough! I noticed today that they actually cut the whole sushi thing out of the ad, thankfully!!
  17. Why do both these actors have appearances scheduled for soap conventions this fall if they are leaving the show? I don't get it.
  18. What I found gross was his "stern paternalism" when he first approached Kiki, making her think he was upset with her. Then lavished his approval on her, and bestowed his wise career insights on her /s. Such a power play, and really creepy. Plus an insult to nurse's aides everywhere. Gah! Gh was so annoying today, on so many levels.
  19. That whole Stella thing today was cringeworthy. And stupid - why would any adult mistake the noises of passion to someone being hurt? Then, instead of thinking, "Oops, my bad!" she wants to have Mac and Felicia arrested??? No one does that. I also thought Valerie's "Bye, Felicia" could only have been worse if she had done some hand gestures with it. It wasn't clever. It bordered on stereotyping.
  20. This has always bothered me. No matter how many cooks they have had over the years, they are all called "Cook" by the Qs. Or "Cook Number One", "Number Two", something like that. It's just such a crappy, rich person thing to do. Loved hearing the chaos and breakage in the kitchen! Too bad Olivia had to overstep and fire someone she had no business firing.
  21. My first thought was, "They ripped this off from the British TV show "Sherlock".
  22. That, sort of (I was never a Morgan fan and celebrated his demise)...but imo, her compassion for Spencer and her respect for Nikolas and his memory are issues I would like to see GH address, and eventually used to redeem the character (somewhat). Probably not going to happen, though.
  23. I interpreted that as "protect her from the police", but who knows? Dante would probably argue that they shouldn't charge her because she had stupid brain thing.
  24. And he loves his family and...and...and...DIMPLES!
