I know it is budget and all. But I remember the Valley Tournament in the original movie and it was so much more spread out, with better lighting. And we can all see video of real karate tournaments and the Olympics and how it is all well lit and spread out. This Sekai Takei is supposed to be a world class tournament, hotel accommodations etc. but the facility itself is so closed in and small. I don't know. I was expecting it to look more like the Olympics

But... the "Booker" in the library said she was worthy of the power. So she would have an edge wherever she went inside that damn thing. Knowing the show, some final showdown between the two ladies. Michael wins, maybe brings back Lak to satisfy Mall, deals with the Breen threat. Then attends the Saru marriage, reconcile with the real Booker etc. We'll see

Yes.... Might as well go all the way now that the cat is already out of the bag. Repair the other 4 towers and expand the atmosphere of that planet. Schedule a repair crew to maintain when need be. Sneak in spy anthropologists to study the effects on the culture. Reminds me a little of TNG when the primitive people were talking about "The Picard" All reminds me of Dr. Who season "The Key To Time". And in video games the old Tomb Raider 3 where the explorer Lara visited primitive places that looked up to a structure and she knew more than the locals, that the structure was an advanced artifact. While I am at it... this might be Thanos finding and assembling the stones . 🤣

These postings are great to check out after watching the ep! Say... is there a listing of frequently used words, to develop a drinking game ie. one shot every time you hear....? Brick Connect Product

The clenching of the armchair, the shaking, reminded me of the PTSD book “The Body keeps the Score” by Bessel van der Kolk. Tbh, there should have been a discretionary screenshot prefacing the episode that it touches on PTSD from combat. I remember Ds9 “Duet”, but not enough to compare the two. The food Pike prepared looked good. I really hope now that the musical ep is not where the show “jumps the shark”

I saw this in the headline of one of the episode reviews online. Notice how conveniently Uhura went on the shuttle with Chapel and Ortega, thus avoiding T'Pring. That would coincide with TOS where Uhura asks Spock who she is on the viewer. I don't know... Some instances, they tweak the continuity like Khan etc. and other instances they make the series fit TOS.

Few things 1 Another anomaly, another humanist speech to energy beings almost like Captain Michael Burnham. Reminded me a little of Sisko and the beings in the wormhole 2. How could Captain Pike on his ship, listen and do NOTHING when the mother was insulting Starfleet and humanity in general. 3 The episode went down a bit in the middle and sort of redeemed itself when Chapel found out what Spock really did in the shuttle, her expression after the hypo spray (almost crying), Spock defending humanity and his human side, and finding out what Amanda went through all those years on Vulcan. The last scenes salvaged the episode a little.

It wasn't a bad idea to have a show like this: So far it is like a spy thriller, don't know who is who, Samuel Jackson centered, and so far no superhero in a shiny costume showing up. A respite of sorts from all the capes. But the execution of it all... Some things could be better, plot holes. A little disappointed? Yes

Retcon… The damned Temporal Wars in the 21st century is wreaking havoc on what we have known for decades! 🤣 Such convenient hand waving.

Same here. Interestingly, the original pilot "The Cage" did make mention of visiting the planet. The writers are taking just about every mention In the pilot and TOS and weaving stories https://www.inverse.com/entertainment/star-trek-first-strange-new-world-rigel-7-the-cage

S02.E03: Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow
AWhittle replied to starri's topic in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
Time cops, TVA in the Loki show, Kang in the MCU. .. all better enforcers and maintainers of the timeline than Gallifrey 🤣 But in Star Trek, too much travel back... Picard season 2 overlapped with the Gabriel Bell situation from ds9. Wouldn't the Watchers like Gary7, Talinn with all their devices and sensors pick up on the Romulan spy who was there 30 years and the Temporal wars, the back and forth fighting to steer history? No coordination of stories between shows. Only retcons and contradictions that we fans pick up and argue ad infinitum on fourms. -

Few things In the Terminator movies, it was said in T3 that the events of T2 didn't prevent the Skynet/Judgement Day. It still happened later on. It was just delayed. In a similar vein, (and from what the Romulan time spy said) all these temporal shenanigans moved Khan's birth/Eugenics War/ Botany Bay exile from the mid 90s to the mid 21st century. Spock still existed being half human half Vulcan with an isolationist Earth A decent retcon from the TOS "Space Seed" episode. So much for continuity and canon: Between how many died in WW3, the Enterprise looking so different, the Klingons with ridgest. At this point.. it is all a mess. Aside from that... How about Kirk vs. Magnus Carlsen 🤣 -

I am just surprised that we did not get a closeup of Pelia's face when La'an walked in the bridge in the restored end.- 194 replies

S03.E10: Part Ten - The Last Generation
AWhittle replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Star Trek: Picard
Getting to the center of the cube... Return of the Jedi Troi knowing where they are... Leia knowing where Luke was hanging in Empire Strikes Back😆 --- Everyone has been so taken with Picard: Q... the Borg in making him Locutus, the Ardra impersonator in TNG... Almost like the past fascination with Kirk in his time ---- Clever that they blasted the cloaking device. But now that all the 20 somethings have come back to their senses... Trauma? Guilt? Federation better get more therapists working overtime. --------- When will the trial end anyway? -
Shaw did say in his tirade that the real Borg was still out there. For 8 episodes we had mystery with the shapeshifters. Now we are back to the Borg and this zombies trope.
