  1. Is anyone else thinking that Kate's behaviour at the mall might have (in Kate's eyes) made them forget the batteries for the smoke detectors and that's why she has said Jack died because of her? We already know their house burned down and I don't think they would go so far as to have Jack die in the fire saving Kate. Or would they? Inasmuch as Randall has bugged me this season, tonight looked to me like Kevin isn't the only Pearson brother Beth is unsupportive of. I found her "I need you in the real world" knock such an insult. He's been the stay at home parent and from much experience in that field, I can say with confidence that there's not a whole lot more "real world" than that. It's not like he hasn't been there for her and their daughters. I didn't find Randall's search for "Lady" compelling at all - actually that bored me. But Randall has been supportive of Beth and he just needed a little more time and she should have trusted that. So Beth, if Randall won't say it, I will say it on his behalf - I call marriage. I liked Miguel being protective of Rebecca but I also understood Kevin's need to spend some time with her alone. Miguel should respect that. My new favorite relationship of the whole show? Kate and Madison :).
  2. Pressure or no pressure, Beth is an adult and made her decision to go. If she truly didn't want to go, and knew she couldn't be supportive of Kevin and his efforts to become well, then she had no business being there. I could see Miguel and Toby mistakenly thinking their presence was required, but Beth would certainly know that the presence of anyone harbouring ill will toward the patient is never required. Based on her reaction when asked to leave, she was pissed she couldn't stay to get her digs in and make her negative feelings known, and seemed to try her best to do that on her way out anyway. That makes it more about herself than the reason she knew she was there - to support Kevin in his recovery.
  3. I felt she went out of her way to be a bitch to him tonight. The last thing anyone needs when making an effort to be well is someone there just to show their contempt and non support. She had the choice to stay home but instead went there just so she could give him her stinkface from the start and stink comments when she realized she was being asked to leave. It's all about her. She had no business being there. You're not the only one. He will have to make amends and answer to his behaviour. I don't believe we've seen the last of Kevin and Sophie. But he didn't "cruelly flush it". At the risk of sounding like I'm excusing Kevin's behaviour, I'm really not. I'm just saying that Kevin's actions are that of a drug addict, very different than if he were not a drug addict. It's also possible he ended things with her (the way he did it was regretful and I think he knows that) because he knew he was in no shape at the time to continue any kind of a meaningful relationship.
  4. So would I. That seems to be an ongoing situation throughout. She's right about being "the bad guy". For example, she suggests to Kate that she slice up an apple for herself and Kate because they've both had enough cookies for the day, and Jack enters the house announcing they're going on vacation. And, she really is undermined at every turn when it comes to her concern re Kate's eating, and I'm sure it would not be long before you would feel so alone in it. But Jack loving his little girl so much and seeing her as the most perfect and beautiful human being would be, I am sure, very hard to fight. It would have been nice if Rebecca and Jack had been on the same page with concern for Kate's weight and health.
  5. Drinking and driving is so wrong, always. But I don't think the "real" Kevin would do that. He would not want to hurt anyone. It was too easy to forget, with everything else going on in this episode, that Kevin is a drug addict. He is in rehab because he is a drug addict. Thank goodness no one was hurt by his actions, but what a wake up call. I will never blame him that Tess was in the car, which is why I think, and I echo fellow posters here, Beth was so pissed. I am increasingly disliking Beth.
  6. I get that what Kevin did was wrong because drinking and driving is never right. But the visit was about healing, and anyone not on board with Kevin's healing and/or anyone who felt they couldn't be supportive of Kevin had no business being there. So there was no need for Randall and Beth to get a sitter. Beth should not have gone. Her behavior when asked to leave was self serving and immature. Is it just me, or was there a kind of major contradiction from Rebecca? I loved her tonight by the way. But at the meeting, she basically said she gravitated more toward Randall because he was easier. Yet later, it was shown that Kevin was obviously easier, meaning she didn't think she had to worry as much about him. She admitted she was wrong about that, but that doesn't change the fact that back then, Kevin was obviously easier. Why didn't she just say that since Kevin was easier, she felt that Randall needed her more, rather than say Randall was easier?
  7. I was not worried about Tess. Didn't need to cover my eyes. That brat had NO business being in Kevin's car without Kevin's knowledge. I don't care why she hates her house but it being her reason for being a stow away in Kevin's car is what will get Kevin off in Randall and Beth's eyes. It is Randall and Beth who owe Kevin an apology. Their brat should never have hidden in his car. Game over. That was significant and was not about Pac man. No one except Jack, Rebecca and Kevin realize the enormity of the end of a promising football career. It's big. When Kate witnessed her mom and dad embracing in the parking lot what she didn't know was that they were beginning the grieving process together before taking it on with Kevin. Kevin, who never got the chance to grieve the end of his football career and move on from it because... didn't we hear him say in "Number One" that he pretty much went straight from being out of the hospital to his Dad's funeral? From what we see in pictures so far of the funeral I don't see a cast on Kevin but granted we don't see much. And with Randall saying he only has one year left in high school (the other two could have another year if Randall skipped a year) there's not much time left for Jack to be alive. Yes we saw Kevin at home in the cast with everyone but many things point to that being the last time they were all together as a family. "Game over" didn't mean Pac man, meant football to a point but meant something else much more serious. Just what I took away from it.
  8. Okay. That was blatant manipulation. Blatant I tell you. And I tell myself that but it doesn't stop the tears. That Charlotte. Geez, that's some crackerjack doctor right there, huh? I'm going to go to a happy place now, the beginning of the episode where Kevin took a bite of a burger, and it looked like an In-N-Out burger. I would really, really like an In-N-Out burger right now. Too bad I don't live anywhere near somewhere that has In-N-Out.
  9. I hereby rename this episode "Telling Off Randall". But was there any of it he didn't deserve? I hereby nominate both women who told Randall off tonight for Emmys. Both of them killed those scenes. I hereby state that Deja and her mom belong together, once all is cool with mom. I hereby declare Kevin a drug addict and hereby declare his loved ones all idiots for not seeing something is terribly wrong with him. I hereby wonder if Rebecca and Jack gleefully left that courthouse with their newly legally adopted son and their daughter, forgetting Kevin?! I hereby pronounce Toby as being good for Kate (at least tonight). I hereby proclaim this episode as very judge-centric. I missed Dr. K, who I think really could have vouched for them about Randall. I hereby wipe away tears, again. When all episode I was not expecting I would. Dang you, show.
  10. He was flirting with her at the restaurant where she worked. When she showed up at the bar, the look on his face gave it away for me and I expected he would then introduce her to his wife.
  11. I know, but I think it was to show that, although they had names picked out, it doesn't always work out that way. Kind of like "Kyle". Did the fan pamphlet say "Tessanna"? I thought I saw that. Didn't they name their second child Annie? Maybe both daughters were named after the same fan. I could be wrong, but didn't she delete "I'm hanging in" and put "I'm good"? If so, I thought it was a major step for her to admit to herself that she finally was good instead of just "hanging in".
  12. Yeah Kevin... Stop whining! And while I'm it - Kid Kevin... Stop whining! Why stop there? Randall... Stop brooding! Kate... Wake up! Hey Larsons.. Shut the fuck up!
  13. Oh, no worries, decubed! With six full pages of comments on this episode alone, it would be unrealistic to think that we could get around to reading every one of them!
  14. I have never experienced that in any support group I've attended (and I've attended a few). Support groups are supposed to provide safety and eruptions at others is not safe. You want to have a breakdown about you? Sure. About others? No way. As you said, it's called a support group, support being the operative word. I have since addressed the above quoted post of mine. I did say that but, no, of course it isn't. I was wrong. I apologize and, if I may, please allow me to not only clarify that, but correct it right now. Seeing the Katehate for it and the sympathy for Madison I think got me down. What my (somewhat) cooler head says is it's never okay but I can see why it happened. I can see that what Madison was doing could easily come across as taunting, even if she didn't mean for it to. If it wasn't Kate who felt provoked enough by it to finally snap, then I believe someone else would have. I'm sure more than one attendee there wanted to stand and applaud. I don't think Madison is fine there, and I don't think she should be there. Yes, she has every right to be there. But if she has body issues or a mental disorder which causes her to see herself as obese in her head then I think she needs much more help than a support group for obese people can give her. If she's lost the weight and needs support in order to keep it off, there are support groups for that. If someone is entirely healthy but believe in their head they are dying of all sorts of horrible diseases, they would not belong in a support group for terminally ill people, they need help for their hypochondria. If someone is unemployed but wealthy, they shouldn't attend a support group for those looking for jobs complaining that the diamond on their ring is too heavy for their hand. I don't believe that we should hurt peoples feelings just because we have the right to. That said, I like the character of Madison. I found her to be annoying in the meeting but her reaction to Kate's pregnancy news was outright endearing, and I thought it was warm, sweet and genuine. The actress blew me away with her scene stealing moment. Dan Fogelman's wife or not (she is), she has certainly earned the right to act alongside the major players!

  16. No, her behavior is not unacceptable. It's not only acceptable, it's welcomed. That's what support groups are for. You can erupt, you can erupt big time, any time. You can let loose. It's understood. The leader of the group did step in, and asked if anyone else had anything they wanted to say. Anyone can and should if they want, respond. There are alternatives to support groups should anyone wish for others to not be there. One on one counselling, one on one therapy. There are many affordable alternatives. Yes, it's called a support group for a reason. Anyone joining a support group knows that other troubled souls will be there and that it's not a private session, far from it.
  17. I hope the reason for that is for a damn quick resolution to it. I totally agree! We've barely started season two here and with the major unnecessary twist last week, when there is already kind of a lot to explore without it, it reminded me of trying to watch an episode once of a certain producer's many shows. I swear she treats her viewers like they are too stupid to stay unless there's a twist at every turn. I would hate to see this show turn into something resembling those.
  18. Rebecca and Jack's blue and white house and pretty yard is everything.
  19. YAY to Jack for putting quality time (sorry for using the ever overused term "quality time" but it seems to fit here) with his beloved sons before any time with someone who's been dead to him for a long time. If anything has been proved through flashbacks at all, it's that that guy is an asshole. Nothing redeeming about him. So... maybe Madison's not so annoying after all. Nah... she is. Dear Writers: Please quickly resolve the drugged-addicted-Kevin thing. I don't like it. I already like Nicky.
  20. Who the freak turns down a kid - any kid in the world - who offers to show you his creatively constructed Rube Goldberg machine?? Yeah. Fucking racist beyotch does. His grandmother. And she's been his grandmother for 10 years. Ten fucking years. I refuse to hear any argument about how she's just so misunderstood. Nor about how Rebecca takes after her or behaves any way like her. Rube Goldberg machine constructed and explained by your amazing and gifted grandson. I'm all in.
