  1. And maybe it morphs into an inauguration speech by Randall. This show proved to me that nothing is too cheesy. This show proved to me that they can make the worst, cheesiest Hallmark movie look like the work of a genius.
  2. Same here. I won't be watching the rest. Enjoy, all.
  3. I did it all the time. Rebecca's song did nothing for me. The lyrics are beautiful (thank you, peeayebee!), so I don't know why. As soon as she began singing, I reached for a kleenex and I was disappointed I didn't need it. When they were simultaneously showing Rebecca singing in the restaurant, I wondered what song it was, and I really wanted to hear some of that. It was odd not seeing the girls there. The show really cheaped out here, because there's lots of things they could have done. There was not even an illusion of them being there. As far as family wedding photos go, Elijah should not be included in any family photos, and yes, ditto Madison. They are friends, not family. As far as Elijah being there at all, well Madison is Kate's best friend and as such should never be invited without a plus one. Not even a plus one, he's her husband, and his name as well should be on the invitation. "Half a decade ago." Oh Madison, Madison, Madison. You can make it sound like longer all you like, but it's still only five years since you've seen Kevin's junk!
  4. With so few eps remaining, I hope tonight's isn't just about who Kevin did or didn't fuck the night before the wedding because I don't care at all. Last week's ep was a happy one because of the wedding, and Beth and Madison provided some much needed humour which has been absent from the show lately. I don't think we need two madcap type eps in a row though, when everything's quickly wrapping up. I know there's a Miguel ep coming up. I agree with others who say there will most likely be a sad ending to that. But I do hope they show us a little bit of his life at least; like, does he see his kids now? They obviously sided with mom (Shelly) in the divorce, and they were nastier to Rebecca than Rebecca's kids were to Miguel. Interesting to see if anything changed over the years, because Rebecca's kids did finally accept Miguel and he is a member of their family. I'm not suggesting Miguel's relationship with his kids should take over, because the focus should and will be Rebecca and Miguel's relationship. But this show has a knack for showing us major developments with just one scene - no lines from anyone necessary. And yes, Jack had a severe drinking problem. Will this be addressed? I wouldn't be surprised if Jack and Rebecca split at some point (however briefly) because of it. This is really sad, and others have mentioned this also. Kyle. How overwhelming must it have been for Jack and Rebecca to bring home three newborns while grieving the loss of their child? I can't even imagine. They would have needed lots of support. I bet Dr. K was involved. Sad, but I do think it should be covered, because, full circle and all. And I still want to know that secret ingredient!
  5. Oh exactly. I always meant the weddings themselves would be the backdrop. We can bet our sweet bippies* the drama will be paramount. I'm just happy if the main focus of it is not Kate. * I noticed Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In on Amazon prime and I couldn't resist a little peek (and just wow lol).
  6. Omg does anyone else feel like they need a break from Kate? Three episodes in a row and now a fourth?? I wasn't even going to watch but the title "Day of the Wedding" gives me a strong vibe that it's not only about Kate and Phillip. Kevin and Sophie's first wedding, perhaps?
  7. I was confused about that, too. There was a flash forward one season showing Toby in bed in a very depressed state. This was not a far-into-the-future flash as it was revisited and dealt with the next season. When Randall calls Toby to invite him to see Rebecca, it shows him in bed alone and he asks Randall if he's sure "she" would want him there. I think this is what set off the whole "are Kate and Toby divorced", but especially the "is Kate alive at the end" speculation.
  8. I think Phillip was in a flash forward beyond the wedding. A scene in this episode shows Kate, Phillip, Toby and Yogurt Girl together in a bar (?) to support Jack, who is performing there. Jack looks mid-20s.
  9. As far as Katoby go, what a relief they're finally over. Goodness. They are simply exhausting. I don't feel this episode and Saturday in the Park were necessary (for Katoby). I got the message loud and clear at the end of The Hill that they were over (even before the end), and indeed I assumed that was the end of that. And it should have been. Kate at the top of the hill after her phone call would have been a poignant way to show us it was over for them. If someone who was supposed to love me told me the reason they looked miserable is because I was in the room, I would make sure they never had to be in a room with me again. A lot happened in this episode and we were given a missing piece or two. But still it didn't interest me like an episode in the home stretch should. It actually kind of dragged. I'm glad to see Madison get her happy ending, even if it's Elijah lol. If Elijah is meant to be some sort of loveable goofball, then um... fail. I can echo many others in saying that I don't care anymore who Kevin ends up with, and I too would be just fine with it if the loves of his life are his children (as he himself mentioned the possibility when he learned of Madison's pregnancy).
  10. No, she sure didn't. Nor would she have. But that didn't stop her from trying to get Kevin to give up on his.
  11. If Mrs. Malone's recipe is southern, I'd bet the secret ingredient is... bourbon.
  12. I know that. But she's not family at the moment. To the Pearsons or to the viewers. I might understand a Cassidy-heavy episode a few seasons ago had she become one of Kevin's business partners then, and then became family because of it, but we're into the final stretch. A final stretch that has yet to see Toby's story, Miguel's story (we got Beth's story but that could be it for the Pearson married-ins, I hope not). Nicky? I know that many here have seen enough of Rebecca and Jack's stories but I happen to enjoy them both and, while we have seen snippets of Rebecca's life, I don't think we've seen much unless I've forgotten. We've seen snippets of when she was young, but not when she was grown up and before she met Jack. We've seen Jack's run up to meeting Rebecca (wasn't he involved in something serious that was about to go down?) but have we seen any of Rebecca grown up before meeting Jack? We've had very brief snippets of Madison's life. Regardless of how we feel about the character (I like her), there hasn't been a Madison episode and she's a regular character, the mother of Kevin's babies. So, with so much still to cover, and with so little time to cover it, I'm wondering why such a Cassidy-centric episode right now, unless there's another reason for it. I'm not a Cassidy fan so that makes me a little nervous, lol. In the hospital with Cassidy, Kevin said "I'm not going anywhere". I know that meant he wasn't leaving the hospital, but could it have been a hint?
  13. Of course Randall and Beth have three daughters. Annie is the youngest. She is very cute and seems sweet. But as cute and sweet as she may be, I don't need or want to see more of her. I feel she is shown with the family appropriately. And heaven forbid, a story line of her own. There's a reason soap kids are routinely afflicted with RAS (Rapid Aging Syndrome). Young kids are incredibly boring on adult shows. I used to like it on soaps where the desperately distraught mom overacted for 11 months, and less than 10 seconds after being reunited with her kidnapped baby, gets a sly look on her face, turns to the kidnapped baby she hasn't seen in 11 months and says "I think I saw Nanny baking cookies in the kitchen and I heard she needs help decorating them... NOW SCOOT!!". And with a gentle shove, off goes Junior who we don't see for another two years when he returns as a 16 year old. I'm okay with young kids being nothing more than props and vessels for the adult story lines on adult shows.
  14. Ah Kate and Toby. It was hard for me to choose a side until near the end. Toby decided it was ultimatum time, and basically said it was over unless she and the kids moved there (it was almost a relief. Someone had to say it and he did). My impression was it was over before Kate landed in SF. Those two were completely detached from each other. The house blindsiding didn't even do it. They were over before that, and that just solidified it. Maybe Toby thought that if she saw the cute house she'd be all in. But she wasn't in it at all. And, understandably, the fact that it was new to her and not feeling real new to Toby really pissed her off. It surely didn't help. But nothing would have helped because her heart was not in it. Kate and Toby love each other but in the end, it wasn't a strong enough love for them to stay together. And there was Kate at the end, deciding to take control of her life. She climbed up that hill, not just to spite what Toby said, but because she finally felt in control. Boy, Beck's pep talk was profound. I wonder how it will affect Randall and soon we shall see. I didn't think I would, but I'm enjoying the teen big three's pool scenes. Probably because I don't think we've seen much of just the three of them alone together as teens after Jack's death. I thought Kate/Chrissy looked really, really good in this episode. Not just her face, which looked great. Have we ever seen her sleeveless before this? Or even that much of her bare arms? Her top half looks much smaller than previously. I wonder if she has lost weight and they're padding her bottom half. She looked really lovely. Is it just me? Is it just my gummies? Maybe it's because I'm still humming my favourite Bread songs (and Guitar Man isn't one of them, lol).
  15. I have to admit I was a little disappointed seeing Cassidy. It's not that the actress didn't do a great job - she did. It's that I thought her story had wrapped up a few eps ago (?) after her discussion with Kevin that they are not going to be romantically involved. It was such a sad story and beautifully done by all, especially her, but for me it begged the question: If she's not going to be with Kevin, then why an episode that featured her so prominently? Was she filler for this episode? While an unexciting episode for the purposes of moving forward, I don't think it was filler per se. But only for this reason. It was an important episode as it showed Kevin decidedly taking control of his life. I suppose the two contrasting flights were meant to be symbolic. The flight out to the cabin was a nightmare (Kevin not in control) and the return flight was nice, calm (Kevin in control).
  16. And then after that the original had her living in a cute little house. But yes, good point. As neurotic as Jackie could be, she was an independent woman. Dan's friend (was it Ziggy?) screwed him over on a house they renovated together but Ziggy skipped town and left Dan holding the bag. Bev was chiding Dan for it which led to Dan telling her off (quite strongly) that he had found a buyer (Jackie), and the joke was that Jackie planned to hit up Bev for the down payment. But single woman Jackie was still able to buy a house. And it was realistic, unlike the nonsense they're currently writing. Are big community parties outdoors in wintertime (or any time) at cemeteries, a thing? If a city wants to throw an outdoor singles party, are there no city parks that could have served as the venue instead? How about a party room at a community centre? Party room at the local arena? I don't want to sound like a stick in the mud, but I thought that was very disrespectful. Two grown women fiddling around like fools with the broken piece off a headstone. Ugh. The premise of this episode was good, imo. Darlene wanting to buy a house and Becky dating her teacher. But the ridiculous writing for both stories really ruined it for me. I've never heard of a seller having a preference as to the marital status of a buyer. Or a preference for anything to do with the buyer. Slashing the bicycle tires of the couple who got the house? Wow. And if Becky and her teacher like each other, I'm okay with that (but not dating while he's her teacher). He seems stable (from what we know of him so far, which isn't much) and very nice, and seems to really like her. But it's been presented so stupidly. And I don't think it's that insignificant that Becky said she lived there and her classmates said they'd pick her up at 8. Yes - where exactly are they picking her up? At her make believe house in the town she doesn't live in? I was actually bugged at that to the point where it affected my enjoyment. I wouldn't even call that lazy writing. I wouldn't even call it sloppy. I don't know what it was. How did no one catch that? Are they all asleep or half asleep in that writer's room? What about the director? The crew? The actors? No one? They seriously need to think about cleaning things up, because this is far from the first time it's happened. I know I certainly expect much better from an established network show. I always like Dan and this ep was no different. He gets the lines and delivers them so well. He has not lost his touch. I wonder if they're going to let Dan and Louise live happily ever after or mess with them. Katey Sagal is a very busy, sought after actress (for good reason), so if they're going to be happy Louise will be touring a lot. If they decide to mess, I could see Louise secretly maintaining a place (did she sell her condo? I don't remember). Just for somewhere she can go when she needs a break from the Conner clan (who wouldn't??). I loved that Darlene turned down Ben's offer to co-sign the loan. Good for her. That was big progress for her. I don't know why anyone would think Darlene doesn't need more bedrooms just because Harris moved out and Mark's a teenager. If they turn out to be like their mom and their aunt, they will be living with Darlene in 30 years 😂. With their kids 😂 😂. Darlene needs those bedrooms!
  17. I finally got around to watching this episode and I don't know who I'm more mad at. The show, for reducing me to a puddle of tears.. or myself, for allowing the show to reduce me to a puddle of tears. That was just beautifully done. Heart wrenching. Milo was impeccable imo, and deserves the Emmy for this. Unfortunately (as far as this show goes anyway), Emmy seems to value overacting above flawless, realistic and solid performances. I don't feel this episode was filler at all but rather the show gradually wrapping up the stories they've been telling us for almost six years. Almost like a process. The process of elimination lol. We won't be seeing Jack's mom/parents again. This was closure. Oh, poor, poor Jack and Nicky. No wonder they were both drunks. Home at any age (but especially while growing up) is supposed to be your safe place. Your personal haven from the cold and cruel world outside. Supportive and loving, the place you know you will not be harassed, bullied, beaten etc. There is no safe place for you when you fear going home. Jack and Nicky grew up unable to trust anyone. They learned at such a young age that they couldn't count on the two adults who were supposed to love and protect them the most. One a horrible abuser and the other who failed to rescue them from him. I think Milo perfectly conveyed Jack's regrets about Marilyn. And I agree with others who said that the relationship lifting should not have been solely on Jack. Assuming not every single phone call went like the few we were shown did, Marilyn never told Jack she had a boyfriend. It's not like she was worried Jack would hate the boyfriend out of loyalty to his dad. I realise she didn't want to make the calls about herself, but it looks like she didn't share anything with Jack about her life there. We have no proof Marilyn was not invited to spend major holidays. I think Jack and Rebecca would have eagerly welcomed both her and Mike, had Marilyn expressed interest in coming. But if she didn't I can understand that. She had a life there, a devoted boyfriend, her beloved cousin and close friends she wouldn't want to miss celebrating the holiday with. It was very obvious that Marilyn loved the Big Three. I cried even more when I saw the box with the skates in it, where she had written the children's names. Her hand writing on the box affected me more than the skates. That sort of thing really gets to me. I was instantly reminded of when I accompanied my parents to clean out my grandfather's place. My grandpa was the sweetest most gentle person I have ever known and I loved him dearly. I came across a small, slightly worn square note of paper on which he had printed as best he could (English was not his first language), my and my siblings names and our birthdates beside. For some reason this really got to me, and a typical, somewhat bratty 14 year old grew up a lot that day. Our other grandparents were wealthy, but he didn't let that intimidate or deter him. Every year, each of us received a birthday card with a dollar bill inside. I kept the little piece of paper and my heart still breaks whenever I come across it to this day. I'm getting a vibe that Rebecca and Miguel will be revealed as a magical love story of their own, one that could rival her love story with Jack. The way he was lovingly organising her meds and telling her he would always be there for her. And not only because of that, but it almost seems like they've kept details of their relationship from us until the last season for a reason. For maximum gut-punch, perhaps? I don't trust this show not to make it sad. This episode was remarkably well done, but so, so sad. I get that that is to be expected as some of the stories come to an end, but if the remaining eps are mostly like this one, I don't know if I can take it!
  18. Wow, thank you again so much, madmax! I'm looking forward to trying it out. If I don't succeed, it has nothing to do with your clear instructions, trust me. May I just say once more how much I appreciate this. You kindly went out of your way, taking the time to patiently help a fellow poster (a complete stranger really) who should already have known how to do that. Seriously, thank you :).
  19. Thank you so much, madmax! I'd love to give it a go, but unfortunately I see nothing anywhere on my screen that remotely resembles the +", or a little box that says "quote X number posts". It was kind of you to take the time to help me with this and I appreciate it very much.
  20. Can anyone tell me how to quote posts from different pages without LOSING EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ALREADY TYPED?
  21. I guess I just wanted to cut her some slack when I saw the degree to which she was being attacked.
  22. This episode was just okay for me. Reminiscent of filler. Any other season I may excuse the odd filler episode but this is it - the finale season. Not a time for filler, thank you. A grill/smoker for the purposes of creating family togetherness and memories? Wow. There must be a nearby zoo, children's animal farm or a favourite park they could all spend time together at every weekend. They can still get a grill/smoker. I like Toby and I like Kate but I'm okay with their inevitable split. Those two never displayed effective conflict resolution capabilities. They seemed to celebrate whenever they quickly put a bandaid on a disagreement as it being completely settled and behind them. In fairness to Madison. 1. Baby spitup* is a lot different than if your obnoxious fratbro boyfriend puked all over your hair after overdoing it at the kegger. 2. Some days you don't have a spare moment for anything about yourself. Nothing. Stealing a few seconds to use the bathroom (door open, babies near) is the best you can do. Their needs are the highest priority and some days it's just constant and you must tend to them, putting your own on the back burner without even thinking, because you know you have no choice. You know you need to shower/wash your hair but things like that must wait until either someone else is there or the babies are sound asleep for the night. Some days they don't nap and that can result in a really hectic day. I have a wait and see attitude towards Philip. But I think there could be a reason he's British and I think there could be a reason he doesn't have a last name** yet... * I know she said "vomit" but that's the writing. I think "spitup" would have been more suitable here. ** Simons? But I doubt even this show would do something as cheesy as two best friends marrying each others brothers. To me that sort of indicates that if he is any relation, Kevin does not end up with Madison.
  23. Agreed. And I can't think of any reason why it would be. Yes, there's been acknowledgement here that it could be the same bathroom. And if it does turn out to be, there's one thing I do know for sure. I will never not be creeped out by Kevin rehearsing to his sister (rather nervously and seriously, yet, and complete with pauses and deep exhaling), "Wow. You look absolutely beautiful"... and "There's so many things I want to say to you today". Even though when he does see Kate in her wedding dress he tells her in a perfectly casual and brotherly way that she looks beautiful, if his previously stated words were in the same bathroom and meant for Kate, that will always creep me out even more than Randall and his skinnydip with Ghostmom. 😬 Oh, I totally agree! I like adult Sophie (even if she is somewhat manipulative), she's nice but not for Kevin, I just feel that their relationship ran its course, twice, which was one too many times over. Younger married-to-Kevin Sophie I found to be selfish and immature. Also, am I imagining this or was it alluded to (or perhaps said straight out) that Kate and Sophie had had a falling out and were not best friends or even friends at all anymore? I don't recall - did we ever find out what happened? Or was it just that they had simply lost touch? I seem to recall that something about Kate and Sophie was said/implied and I think it was during the time Kevin and Sophie were back together. I'm looking forward to the new (and final) season and I trust my fellow diehard fans are, too! HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!! 🎆🎇✨🎈🎉🎊
  24. Thank you! - Time will tell if they amount to anything :). I don't think it's the same location/venue. I don't think we saw the bedroom when Kevin was practicing in the mirror the first time, but it does look to me like the two bathrooms were different. When we saw him practicing at first, we were lead to believe it was for his soon to be called off wedding to Madison.. then we learned at the end that he had been practicing for Kate's wedding to Phillip.. and my theory is that he wasn't practicing for either of those weddings when he was practicing near the beginning of this episode. We did see him leave the bathroom near the end, and we saw that bedroom, which was in the hotel they were at for Kate's second wedding. And good question about whether they would choose the same venue if Kevin and Madison get married in the future - they could, but I hope they wouldn't, I hope it would be a different location/venue, if only to reflect the fact they are in a different "place" in their relationship than they were when their first wedding was called off. I don't know about anyone else, but I know I would always associate the first location with the sad memories of a called off wedding, even if it ended amicably like theirs did. Yes, it sure seemed all female, which makes me wonder if Kevin was using someone else's room just to get ready (but he wouldn't need to do that unless it was his own wedding). At first I thought it might be Rebecca's room because really who else would keep the magazine open to Randall's article but his mom (lol)? Who in four years will even want an actual magazine featuring Randall but his mom?* But Rebecca's room would have Miguel's things in it too if he was there. I know we saw Kevin, Randall, Nicky and Phillip at the end, but did we see Miguel?** But if Kevin was getting ready, you're right, there doesn't seem to be any men's toiletries in the bathroom. What I did notice was a ladies watch. I guess some people still wear watches in four years' time. (Heck, I still had mine practically super glued to my wrist for almost a decade after I got my first cell phone because I was so used to it I didn't want to part with it even though I had my phone with me all the time.) From what I can tell, and admittedly I didn't look too far, Rebecca, Beth and Madison don't wear watches, the one Kate wears resembles a man's watch and has a rather large round face. The black ladies watch in the bathroom has a small rectangular face. The only character I can tie this to is Sophie, a nurse - so a watch makes sense, and when she called Kevin to "congratulate" him she was wearing not the exact same one but one quite similar - a black watch with a square face. The watch was very visible, showcased almost, as she was waving her left hand up and around while she was on the phone. The pink robe was missing from the bed? I will have to see that again! I agree with you that they film in parts and multiple takes and if it were any other show, that's what I would chalk it up to. Maybe he's not alone in that room when he leaves it to to ask Kate if he can use The Princess Bride in his speech... ...which brings me to "obviously". Kevin says in the first practicing that he can't use it - obviously. That could mean anything. Like we had remarked, if he was using it for his own wedding, it wouldn't make sense to use it unless he was marrying Sophie. And when Madison asked him (in the episode previous to this one, I think) if he had been practicing saying his vows, she said something like "remember - no silliness, no movie quotes, improv Kevin was not invited...". (She didn't say "silliness", but I recall that was the gist. I think she did say "no movie quotes".) Like I've said before, all this could mean absolutely nothing. With this show, it's often a toss up as to whether something means anything significant or whether they're faking us out. * Out of everyone in the family, Randall and Beth might but I don't think it was Randall and Beth's room, based only on when Kevin left the room, Randall appeared from another hallway around the corner - but that could mean nothing. ** We may have seen Miguel in that hallway but I really don't recall if we did . I'd like to see it again but just two days ago we had a rep from our cable provider here to replace our outdated boxes with the new ones and that meant losing all our taped shows! 😭
