I Just came back from having my taxes done by AARP. In case you are unaware, AARP offers free tax preparation for seniors (I think you have to 50 or 55, I don't remember). You take your tax info and they prepare your taxes while you wait. It is sponsored by AARP, but you do not have to be an AARP member. Your taxes are double checked and they give you the form for your payment or refund. There is a website--AARP Tax services, or something like that, that has locations by state, and then by town. Here they start taking reservations mid January and start tax preps mid February. It is appointment only, and the site has the phone number to call. They have a few restrictions that they will tell you about when you make your appointment. The slots do fill fast, so you have to make a reservation early. I know a lot of people don't know about this service, and I hope it helps someone to get ready for next tax season. There was a lady there this morning that is almost blind, and they were very helpful and kind to her.

Our blizzard has finally past, and it is sunny today. Sunny but very cold. I live at altitude, so it is a very dry cold. I'm going to find out soon how the same temps feel at sea level----on a ship in the North Sea. I'm guessing it will feel much colder. I'm finding it is much, much harder to pack for a vacation in very a cold climate as opposed to a beach vacation. You don't need to figure out how to pack snow boots and a big jacket to go to the beach.

This plus his fascination with throwing knives and annoying the cat makes me very worried.

I really have no idea. I had never heard of the site until yesterday. I would hope the posts are readable at any time, like this site. But you have a good point, and we need to find out more.

Discord sounds like what we need--a place to meet and post. I don't really think that we are being red-lighted because of anything we did in particular. I think it was several people filing many complaints. I get the feeling that the person in charge reacts instead of investigating, and complainers have figured that out. We have not had the chance to explain the difference between a scripted show and a reality show. We have not been given a chance to show how respectful and diverse this group is. We have not been given any direction on how to "clean up our act". The complainers have finally figured out how to shut us down. Look at the Shopping Channel forum. It disappeared literally right before our eyes. On the Major Crimes forum, which is a green-light forum, NO COMPLAINTS was mentioned as one of the things that makes them a green forum. Our personal feelings do not appear to count for anything. How is that following the guidelines or showing kindness to other posters?

If anyone wants to see a "green light" forum, to go Major Crimes. The new person in charge made a congratulatory post and told them all the things they are doing correctly. Apparently no complaints have been received about this forum.

Does anyone know how to set up a group forum on Facebook? I know a branch of my family has one. Maybe "our family" needs one, too.

I posted a rather long, and kind, post before I went to bed comparing our group here to what I found on FreeJinger yesterday. ( I found a lot of politics, bad language, and bad grammar (LOL)), and stated that it has changed a lot since I left there to come here. I also praised our group for tolerance, kindness, and caring. My post is nowhere to be found.

It would be great if Tim could work for the railroad. Good benefits.

The snow here is still falling, but it is not as bad as I expected so far. Based on what is on my fence, I'm guessing we have had about 5 inches so far. It is supposed to snow all day today and tomorrow morning. It should stop tomorrow afternoon, and it should be sunny, but very cold. The snow plow came this morning so the road is clear, but I am staying inside today and tomorrow. Hopefully my neighbor's grandson will shovel my driveway tomorrow. Tahoe was under a blizzard warning and all roads through the Sierras have travel restrictions. , but at least the high, high winds have died down. They were predicting about 10 feet at the higher elevations. At least the weather is not as bad as last year when we set a 40 year snow record. I hope everyone here who is in a weather situation stays safe-- especially those near the Texas fires.

Those are not terms I personally would use, but if I don't like something someone says, I use the delete button. I do not complain to anyone else. We are not children here, we can make adult choices on our own.

Interestingly, House Hunters, where people are really hard on the couples on the show, is running just fine with no lights or shutdowns. I still think some people signed up just to complain, which brought this unwanted and unneeded attention. There is no way our usual posters would draw this kind of attention. I could see this happening on the Shopping Channel shows, too.

Sooo-where are we all going? I like our group and hope we can stay together.

Someone must have been making a lot of complaints to the people in charge, and I find it interesting that this site and the Shopping Channels site are both in trouble. The entire Shopping Channel site has actually disappeared. This cannot be a coincidence. Both sites on the same day? I am curious to find out if any other sites were hit this hard.

Something big is going on since the red light--and entire forum shutdown has happened all of a sudden. I wonder if we will ever really find out what is going on.

I don't think any of us who post regularly are the problem. I have noticed a lot of new names posting in the last couple of weeks. I wonder if this was planned (I know, I read too many mystery novels). But I did think it was odd to see so many new posters lately.

I just had an entire forum (Shopping Channels) deleted from my personal forum list, and I get a "you do not have authority to view this forum" message. What's going on?
