  1. OMG how could I have forgotten to mention that!?!?!? I need to rewatch this season stat!!
  2. OK, here are a couple more, keeping the deliberately really vague. We find out that of the contestants really, really likes beer. Makes for some fun times. Also, there is a super entertaining endurance challenge where we find out that Christian can talk for a really long time...
  3. There is an great episode where several people in trouble pool their advantages and play them *perfectly* in an amazing blindside! Is that the kind of thing you are looking for? I hope?
  4. Sadly, I think EoE is going to kill Amber's chances, which really bums me out. In a non-EoE season, I think she would not be seen as a huge threat by herself if Rob was voted off. But Rob has always been great at challenges, and I think nobody is going to want to take a chance on leaving Amber in the game when there is a chance Rob could win his way back in. I think everyone will want to minimize any chance of them teaming back up late in the game. I think they will want to put both of them on EoE as fast as possible. I sure hope someone can poke some holes in my logic here because I really want to see Amber do well. I wish she had come back without Rob.
  5. I just did my first re-watch of SJDS so I could watch knowing Natalie was the winner, and pay closer to her game specifically. Oh wow did she play an amazing game!! She pretty much ran that game from the merge on, and the rare times when things didn't go her way, she was amazing at keeping her cool, re-grouping, and coming up with the next plan. She never once seemed to lose her focus on the end goal. She's a CrossFit trainer so is likely to be one of the biggest physical threats out there. She was physically, socially, and strategically fantastic in SJDS. I think she could be a serious contender for the win.
  6. OK, now I can say it, Jay is the one I really didn't care for in the beginning but by the end I wanted to adopt him. There are so many players I really loved that season. I would love to see Michelle get a second chance for sure. Michaela is one of my all-time favorites. And then you get David vs Goliath!! Another amazing season!! Can't wait to read your takes on it!
  7. One of my favorite players that season was someone I didn't care for much at the start. I won't say who for now so I don't spoil anything for you. This is one of my favorite seasons and I love so many of the players! Glad it turned around for you!
  8. I love the character the lines give her face - I think the photo is striking, and she looks strong and beautiful. She also looks like she is in *amazing* shape in the videos I have seen. She was so physically strong in the Philippines, and it looks like she has only gotten stronger. I lift weights and do CrossFit and would kill to be in the shape she is in.
  9. Interesting. I have not done a Tocantins rewatch so maybe it is just me remembering him as being different back then. I think you make a good point about the target's reaction to the same Tysonian behavior. And maybe my view of him changed rather than his behavior, because I have liked him more every time he has played - probably at least partly due to us being shown more of those moments of kindness. Him asking Rachel "did you have fun" as she was leaving was another of them. I remember Stephen Fishbach wrote in his People blog (pretty sure the one recapping Tyson's win) that around camp Tyson is all big hugs and long conversations or something like that. We get glimpses of that in the show.
  10. Twin Cities peeps - Sunday Berquest is hosting a season 40 premier party with proceeds benefitting a local cancer charity. I might go, depending on the MN weather!
  11. I know exactly what you mean, which is why I've always felt a little bit squicky about liking him so much. I know he wasn't that young in Tocantins, but he came across as really immature and I think he clearly matures over his three seasons (both as a player and a person). I heard him say something like that on RHAP one time - something like if you didn't like him at the age he was in BvW you probably wouldn't like him in HvV and even less so in Tocantins. But IIRC, even in BvW there were a couple of times his dry talking head comments walked the line between funny and mean. But the heart wants what it wants 😂 Like you said in the Adam thread, it would be boring if we all liked the same players. I'll be sitting out on my lonely little personal exile island this season with my "Tyson FTW" banner waving proudly.
  12. You probably didn't intend this, but by quoting library laws at me we may have just become best friends. Sorry, I don't make the rules. 😊 Seriously though, this is so cool - I had never heard oh Ranganathan's laws and am looking them up immediately. I love books and libraries!
  13. Super unpopular opinion, but I like Adam. (I also think he would have won his season whether he talked about his mom or not.) He isn't my favorite player this season and I don't think he's going to win, but I'm fine with him being in the mix.
  14. I'm 51 and I like his irreverence and dedication to not taking anything too seriously. I know he can be a jackass sometimes, but I like his snarkiness and I truly don't think there is any malice intended with it.
  15. I thought I was going to be rooting for Denise this season, but while reading all of the season 40 coverage yesterday I realized I really want Tyson to win.
  16. Africa is one of my favorite locations. There are a couple of night scenes where they are listening to lions literally across the bramble from them - that had to be terrifying! I miss the different locations so badly.
  17. You know how sometimes you are watching the show, and you suddenly realize you rooting for someone you didn't even realize you were rooting for? That happened to me yesterday while reading all of the season 40 coverage. So while I still love Denise and would be thrilled with a Denise win, she's actually #2 on my list for who I hope wins this season. Color me surprised!
  18. He hasn't been a jerk yet, but I do know that I really liked him in Cambodia, so I must not be remembering stuff from the first time I watched SJDS that is yet to come in my re-watch. I guess I should say "I want Keith Nale from Cambodia to play every season."
  19. Doing my first re-watch of San Juan del Sur, and here are a few random thoughts: - I really like Natalie, even more than I remember liking her the first time I watched - Amazing wildlife shots in this season, makes me really miss the changing locations - I want Keith Nale to play every season
  20. I am so excited to see Denise back - she is my favorite winner!! I have a few players I'm rooting for but she is at the top of the list.

    Fix The Show

I was thinking this exact same thing last week. I miss the different locations a lot.
  22. The first three are three of my favorite seasons, and I really do like Africa as well! This series of seasons will be your reward for slogging through One World!!
  23. Mine, too. This is really fun reading along with someone watching for the first time.
  24. I hated Coach his original season but really liked him in HvV, mostly due to his adorkable crush on Jerri! if you are able, make sure to watch the Ponderosa videos for this season. IMO this was one of - if not the - most fun Ponderosas!
