  1. I had to delurk to say this...you can be both from a border state AND the middle of the country! As a proud native Minnesotan (currently living in Colorado), I couldn’t resist 😜. Of course, it’s both a blue state and on the “wrong” border so never mind.
  2. I like mindless TV and one of the reasons is to help me get my mind off serious stuff so I don't obsess about what's happening in the world and get overly depressed. I guess now society's devolved enough that even crappy TV shows are mean-spirited and nasty. This show at least had funny moments in the past...guess those days are gone. Ugh. It's so bad I felt compelled to "delurk" and comment!!
  3. Wow, how depressing and infuriating at the same time. Bad parenting and bad marriages...fun times for all! No one to root for here so I believe I'll move along and enjoy the camp of Scandal et al. Are there actually people like this in real life? If so, here's some advice: 1. If you're unhappy in your marriage, tell your wife and move along. 2. If you're breastfeeding your child when he's speaking in complete sentences, move along. 3. If you're husband can't shutdown his parents and he allows them to treat you with no respect, move along. 4. If you're acting like a steroid-induced asshole, move along 5. If you can't discipline a child, please don't inflict them on other people. 6. If a brat pulls up your plants and you don't have the balls to stop them, you deserve no plants (see #1 and #3...I'm talking to you, Hector). 7. Uma Thurman, you go get yourself that young piece and enjoy! Just don't go back to whoever's house this is for any future parties (Is it your cousin? brother? ex-lover? We don't know because no one explained any of the relationships other than Slap Spock being a cousin). Too bad...could've been an interesting and thought-provoking subject.
  4. My random 2 cents on a myriad of topics since I've read a lot but not posted much: 1. "There's Something Wrong with Aunt Diane"...watched it from whoever posted the link. Denial is great amongst her family. However, I don't think it proves that Diane was an addict. She may have just gone off her rocker and made some very bad decisions that day. They explained that the vodka bottle was packed for camping. I may pack one, too, if I ever camp again. At this point, I don't think I'm addicted to alcohol. But I'll certainly drink on vacation. She obviously made some very bad decisions and caused the accident...not trying to absolve her of guilt. But that doesn't mean she was an addict. I also say this because I worked with a very nice, kind man that was having family issues. He ended up drinking one night and killing a person on a scooter while driving drunk. I don't think he was an alcoholic...I think he made a very poor decision and got drunk one night and decided to drive. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Again, it was his fault and his responsibility. But it doesn't make him an addict. 2. All these women have their faults. But we see what the producers want us to see. The only person I feel like I can whole-heartedly judge is Brandi. I had some sympathy for her when she first arrived on the scene but that has been completely wiped out. The flaws in all the others do not compare with the obviousness of her basic mean-spirited behavior. No amount of producer manipulation can cover up her true nature..IMO. But, again, my opinion. For all I know, she's a paragon of virtue in real life. 3. OK, this will probably get me in trouble, but I can't believe how some people seem to actually think they "know" these people. It's reality TV, people! We can conjecture, expound and dish on all of them. But, in the end, we don't have a clue about the true lives of any of these people. It is, however, fun to snark on!
  5. Best Bachelor show evah! First, I loved that Chris didn't give a rose to either Ashley or Kelsey. Both so wrong albeit on two different levels. Also, fun to see the girls celebrating after Kelsey's suitcase was picked up. Man, Kelsey must've been a piece of work if they were hoping the very immature Ashley made it through the date. I'll give it to Chris, Ashley was so painfully obvious not made for the Iowa lifestyle. How do you want to be a Kardashian and not know Iowa may not be the place to make that happen? Did she expect Chris to go to the State Fair and call out Farmer Jones' pig not fit to collect the blue ribbon (little Grammy humor there). FYI...native Minnesotan who was born to make fun of Iowa (but I do also understand the beauty of the Midwest so it's only kinda half of a dig :)! I'm warming up to Kaitlyn, feel like Becca is pretty genuine, actually liking Carly (although the self-esteem, or lack thereof, is showng), and am getting the crazy vibe from Whitney now. For a while I was ignoring the chipmunk voice and seeing a connection, now I'm seeing the scary intensity. Megan is as dumb as a post but harmless. And I actually like Jade. With the previews, I'm gonna be upset if she's painted as the "whore" because she posed for Playboy. I could go on a feminist rant on this one but I'll stick with this...how hypocritical is it of a man to look down at a woman that poses nude in a magazine...one that he probably buys and enjoys?! Unless Chris is a paragon of virtue and a virgin, I say "judge not lest ye be judged". It's a naked photograph of the human body, people. It's not like she's screwing on film (Kardashian?). As for Britt. It appears that although the rest of the women were hurt on that group date, they like her. They see the connection between the two that would make anyone feel uneasy and upset if they have feeliings for the guy (Stockholm related or not). But they aren't dissing on her like they did Kelsey. I think she's very attractive and a fairly good actress. But as for the "right reasons"? Hell, no! And I'm going with producer-driven or that scenario was assholey of Chris. Sadly, I'm almost enjoying this Bachelor season as much as Downton Abbey and Brooklyn 99!
  6. Woo Hoo! Just signed up after lurking for a while (sorry, drinking wine and excited for my first post!). I like Maya and Amy. Maya for her enthusiasm, Amy for her "God doesn't care...". Dentists have sorta won me over although he looks, to me, like a roided out Mel Gibson. Don't mind the surfers. But please, please let the wrestlers get eliminated next week! He's not so bad but she is so annoying. She's a defeatist whiner with bad fake eyelashes. I really wish they wouldn't do the "talking heads" commentary. It was obvious to me that the wrestlers wouldn't be eliminated...no way would she be so upbeat otherwise. It's an unnecessary part of the program and kills the suspense IMO.
