  1. So my mom was right! The less you show, the more interesting you get. (Unless, of course, you exaggerate...) But seriously, Instagram is about images, and Shemar likes to post pictures of his abs, and some people (for some reason that eludes me completely) like to have those pictures. I don't follow neither of them, but I visited their FB pages and they both are very different about the material they choose to post. Different audiences, indeed.
  2. First of all, thank you for sharing the video. I just had no idea they were already promoting the new season. And for the video itself,... Well... I am about to spoil the video, so you've been warned. Unsub time, Angry Morgan... Savvy Morgan... Victim and unsub time... Wise Hotch... Horrible pinky Garcia, mouth gaping as usual... The new agent, delivering some lines... Meditative (aka Mute) Hotch... Action Superman cMorgan... More 'new agent" Action Man Rossi... Oh, wait! Reid's nose! Then Action scene with a bonus explosion... Despite the temporary exit of AJ Cook, the format is intact! How nice,,,
  3. Well, it is, indeed, a matter of personal background, and that's probably why you feel like they didnt do much about Kate's personal stuff while I feel like it was overdone. Still, I think I knew a lot more in previous seasons, when just a line or two were delivered here and there, and not much after endless dialogues and long scenes that are standard now, since almost every single episode seems to be dedicated to one character, while everyone else is just taking turns to show up in front of the camera.
  4. See? That right there is what I don't get. Why do the team members, and for extension, the audience, has to know personal stuff about a character? I mean, when you get a new job, or someone is new at your job, that newbie is presented with his/her name, qualifications/positions, and that's it. I don't expect them to pour their lives on me, nor I automatically start chatting with colleagues as if they were my friends (or, mind me, my family!). And no one expect you to do that if you are the newbie (unless you are in Argentina, in which case you automatically become a member of a dis functional Italianish family who speaks weird Spanish). Normally you learn tidbits here and there over time which cast members have, and that's enough for me. I don't need several side stories to spell me their private lives. For me, at least, the less I know the more intriguing is the character. And if a recurring member won't be there for long, well, as colleagues that come and go away, sometimes I don't even remember their names. I remember a time in which Morgan did a personal question to the then new agent Prentiss, and as soon as he felt he had crossed some sort of line he backed away. That's respect, from Morgan's side, and caution from Prentiss's side. And this was just about a date. Nowadays we have characters talking about their very personal stuff to each other as if they would be discussing coffee brands, and that upsets me, since its another sign of lack of realistic drama. Then again, my life experiences have a nice range of situations in which I've been ignored while saying good morning up to having people inviting themselves to my place on my first week on a job.
  5. My take is that ever since Messer got in charge of the show the cast ensemble is mostly considered an accessory. Everything is about the guest stars (hence, the increase in 'unsub' time) and the newest character, plus her two/three favourites. The only exception was Tripplehorn's character, but that was probably because she didnt have a thing to say when they hired that actress. I honestly didn't know who was this Aisha Tyler is, and now the only things I know is that she was in a bunch of shows I never watched, and that nowadays she works in a talk show, which I never watched neither. That, and that she will be a character in Criminal Minds. My perception is that they are promoting her like any other star that has been guest starring in the show before. The only difference is that she is staying after 10PM. Maybe you see something I am missing?
  6. Maybe. Then again hotch didn't say a thing when JJ shot that man in the freezer. He didn't voice anything then, nor when Rossi killed the Nelson's sparrow guy. Sure Morgan also shot quite a few unsubs to kill, not to stop, like in the earlier days. He didn't mind skipping the rules to hide Gideon when he was a suspect, or jumping over regulations to 'save' JJ, although they should all could have stayed at home since she is so awesome she practically saved herself. I think breaking the rules is now standard, since apparently it is 'cooler' to punish criminals, and not just in criminal minds but also in other tv shows. For me, Hotch, the character, is just a victim of the transformation all characters had suffered in the second part of the series.
  7. The Hotch that condemned Elle for the 'suspicious' shot is not the Hotch that rules the BAU nowadays. The younger Hotch couldn't stand lies, or breaking the law, not even for a team member, and had some trust issues. The older Hotch lied to the team about Prentiss's death, and broke the law several times, and not just to protect/save team members. The younger Hotch would have been very hard on the older one, and at the same time the older one would have said the younger to relax. Life experience change us, for good or evil, or maybe both.
  8. Personally, I never quite cared about shoes, except for being comfortable. I never used long boots, nor stilettos. My sister, however, she fits the Shoe-woman stereotype just perfectly, back when she was a teenager, and now almost fifty. And my mom still regrets not being able to wear high heels anymore. I never quite understood how I grew up with them.
  9. And this is a specially unsettling stereotype for a set of writers lead by a woman, and another female showrunner.
  10. Thank you all for your welcome back words! I am right now spending some time in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and while I was looking at tv schedules to see if I could watch Criminal Minds I found several re-runs. Monday: one episode around 10 AM, repeated around 4PM, and then again at 9 PM. And then, at 10PM, a repeat of one of the episode of the last season. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, one episode around 10 AM, repeated around 4PM, and then again at 9 PM. Wednesday: one episode around 10 AM, repeated around 4PM, and then again at 9 PM. And then, at 10PM, a repeat of one of the episode of the last season broadcasted on Monday. Saturday: one episode around 10AM, which is the same broadcasted on Thursday, and then another episode, from season 10, at 8 PM. Sunday: one episode around 10AM, which is the same broadcasted on Friday, and the three episodes (one after the other) from around 4 PM. Apparently they have been rerunning all the episodes in order over and over again, all seasons, and no dubbing! Funny how I though I would have to watch CM in my laptop...
  11. Thank you! It was weird to read Haiku poems and stuff about Betty White (which I don't know who she is), politicians, South Park (which I never saw) and similar stuff. Or just people commenting happily about Gubler doing commentaries for one of his episodes, right on Vents and Rants. Anyway, it feels good to be back. Weird, but in a good way.
  12. A) she grew on me, and I saw those days in which I realised I didn't appreciate her enough back in the early days. B) when Elle called Gideon's attention to the fact that Reid may feel bad because of failing his gun test. Another lovely scene was when she said Reid he didn't have a girlfriend because he just did not ask anyone yet. C) she was great with Reid, but also with Hotch, and even Gideon. D) why did she decide to go for the FBI, specially since his dad was a cop. Elle had a hard crust, but a soft, sweet inside. She was a believable strong woman.
  13. I haven't been able to visit this site for a while, so today I checked the Vents and rants, the bullpen, the spoilers for season 11, among others. I ended up feeling confused, since topics seem to be rather mixed nowadays, and its difficult to decide where to write one's post. Then again, maybe it's just me, not following through the trendy topics.
  14. Season five Episode 15 Hotch: There are lots of ways sons defeat their fathers. Reid: I just keep getting PhDs.
  15. Maybe it would be a good idea to add a table so the figures are readable.
  16. It seems I failed to communicate my ideas again. What I meant is that an iq of 140 would give you the abstract category of 'genius', but then there are people that have higher iqs, and these are categorised as "excepcionally gifted", and then those who have even higher iqs are called "profoundly gifted". Still, the point is that the current version of Reid can't use a remote control. Or a laptop. And the only ability they seem to use is his eidetic memory. Sometimes.
  17. 171 kudos. That means 171 people that like your work. People like what you write. People think what you write is worthy to read. You should just believe them, and put aside your self-doubts. Nobody is perfect, but honesty transcends distances. Your readers are a testimony of that.
  18. Irrelevant = British English: irrelevant If you say that something is irrelevant, you mean that it is not important to or not connected with the present situation or discussion. Synonyms: Unconnected, unrelated, unimportant, inappropriate, peripheral, insignificant, negligible, immaterial, extraneous, beside the point, neither here nor there, inapt, inconsequent. That's the best adjective to describe Reid's situation in the show nowadays (and for some years now, as well) I don't have a problem believing that the old Garcia was smart. The new version,... No way. With all the stupidity exhibited through her behaviour in every single episode of the last season, sorry, but I would never believe that that woman is anything but plain dumb. Nevertheless, and even though it is true there are different types of genius, (and quite a few pseudo-researchers are trying to play down intellectual superiority by matching it with the so called 'other intelligences', lets not forget canon Reid has an iq of 187. That doesn't qualify as 'genius' but as profoundly gifted, which is an entirely different category. But getting back to the point, I have serious issues with the genius category acquired by Garcia since season seven: On one side, it is an obvious attempt to minimise Reid as the former resident genius. In that way, actions that could have been performed by Reid are now delivered by Garcia. On the other side, it's the disregard of Messer and Co. for the former IT abilities of the former Reid. He was the one in charge of technological equipment in earlier episodes, and he was trusted with that. Take, for instance, broken mirror, in which he handles the tracking devices without remote assistance from Garcia. Or in third life, when Garcia called him (I miss Garcia calling anyone but Morgan nowadays) because they were both involved in finding out what was going on on the computers of a couple of missing girls. So Garcia is promoted to genius, then to World-Supreme-hacker, and Reid needs her help to click on a slide projector remote control? That's what makes me mad about the 'Garcia-is-a-genius' situation.
  19. I bought Jump cut in Australia, some years ago. It is worthy. I hope someday I would be able to get the others.
  20. I would be more than happy if JJ is paired with Rossi, or if she shares screen time with Garcia. In that way, I will happily skip them all without regrets.
  21. I think there is a difference between sharing jokes and light (or even hard) teasing, and to be the one the others laugh about. When those 'teasing sessions' happen Reid rarely smiles, which is an indication that he either do not understand e situation, or he does not find a motive to laugh. Hence, the 'joke' is not funny. At all.
  22. And that was just because she was too busy pushing unsubs, guest cast and her favourite characters towards the front line. Messer always had both Blake and Reid at the bottom of her priorities.
  23. We live scary times, thanks to crazy human beings...
  24. I think there are some topics we may talk about that are easy to say if we are talking to strangers, because we fell a lot less exposed, and in a way we have this feeling that we won't be judged or reprimanded, or something like that. So far, and after reading about your life, I thing I had an extremely lucky life. I've done pretty dumb things in my life, and I was lucky enough to just walk out of them completely unharmed (and most of the times, also unaware of danger) I had climbed into a stranger's car on a heavy rainy day, since the guy took pity of me waiting for the bus and dropped me at my place (and I was 19 yo), and I never saw him again. I was at Barahas airport just two hours before the bomb event, and I found out about that almost three months later. I left my luggage unattended in Malaysia just to take a picture of a bird with my cellphone, and when I got back to where I left it (about 50 m away) it was jus there. I lost my ID, my (back in those days) only credit card and some money (around three hundred dollars) while on a trip, and two months later a police officer knocked on my door to return everything on an envelope. Someone found my wallet, took it to the local police station, someone at the police station mailed it to my local police station, and someone else took time to deliver it to my front door. And you know what? Even the money was there. I've never been robbed. I've never even been on a car accident (not even a minor one) I could go on and on, but you get the picture. Maybe I have two guardian angels, even though I don't even care about God or religions. Or maybe I am just extremely lucky. In any case, I think I am compassionate, and I truly believe that most people is good and genuine. I don't think you need to experience hardships to be able to feel compassion, but I am pretty sure it gives you an entirely different perspective.
  25. No wonder I never heard of her. I wouldn't watch a talk show. I haven't heard of Archer neither. And based on your description, which I truly trust, I don't think I would have watch it more than five minutes. Maybe I just read too much and watch too little tv.
