  1. Right, it wasn't just that she fell for his lies. She continued to be with him even after he threatened to kill her nephew, whose own mother was killed by her husband. Even if I can excuse her believing his stories, I can't excuse something like that. We're not talking about a woman with no job who is dependent on her abusive husband and can't leave. This was the total opposite...she was bankrolling his entire life and kept seeking him out.
  2. You must have a fascinating life. I'm on a few other boards with you and you always seem to have a personal connection to everything. You need a movie of the week! :D
  3. Thank you druzy, I just read the entire article. Re: the article, Debra's mom was a piece of work. Not only did she forgive the man who killed her other daughter, she testified on his behalf at his murder trial. Now Debra's willingness to put dirty John before her own family makes more sense. Listening to them speak, Debra came across as smart and articulate, while Terra came across ditzy and slow. Turns out Terra was clever and mom was a complete fool in love. No words for dirty John other than scary as hell. His phone messages to his ex wife were chilling.
  4. Darnit I can't remember which show this was on but it aired this week. Teen is murdered and it turned out to be a spurned suitor but what blew my mind is that her brother in law (who was married to her older sister) was a suspect. The reason? He had molested her. The kicker? The sister was still married to him and her parents were ok with this and still considered him family on the condition that he agreed to never be alone with the teen again. Am I the only one who find this completely outrageous? In the re-enactment, one of the girl's friends told the police something like "nobody in her family protected her" so I'm assuming the writers agree with me.
  5. Kandi and her band mates are cancelled. After they rightfully kicked Nene out for making a rape joke, and after Kandi rightfully made a big deal about rape allegations against her, she and her group bring out R Kelly, an ACTUAL rapist, at their concert. Pathetic.
  6. It really bothers me that someone in the FOURTH episode of Village of the Damned said "this is when you start locking your doors." Also, I looked up the cheerleader murders since the show didn't give any details and apparently the neighbor/killer walked in through an unlocked door. Obviously he could have broken in but the fact that there had already been several murders in that town and folks still weren't locking up boggles my mind. I hope the town is able to heal. I just can't imagine.
  7. That "humans don't murder, and my dad is a human" speech might just be the stupidest, most cringe-inducing bundle of words I've ever heard uttered on this show. Hated the daughters. And I agree with those who said the older daughter almost seemed mad at her mom for getting shot. What hurt the most, for me, was seeing Nancy's pain when talking about them not sitting with her in court. There was a short clip of them hugging her in court and then walking back to the other side, and the hugs were frosty and short, with a couple of pats on the back, not at all the way you would hug your mother, whom you love, who almost died, who lost everything and only has her children. I hate those little assholes. I loved what the prosecutor said when asked why John didn't mind wasting money on the hee haw gang for years. Something like "well he didn't earn that money. You feel differently when you work for money versus when you steal it." Anyway, glad he's in prison, hope he rots. I hope Nancy continues to be happy. I hope the assholes spend every day making up for their horrible treatment of their mother.
  8. Currently rewatching and it still amuses me how Pauline was so sympathetic to poor terrified Sally on thanksgiving, then one year later she herself so frustrated with Sally that she hit her and yelled at her.
  9. The comments about the "beauty queen" on Dateline's Facebook page were hilarious. One woman from the area cleared it up; apparently it was one of those pageants where anyone with a few dollars for the entrance fee and a good speech had a chance to win. No beauty required. Also, loved Keith picking up on the "designated area" slip. Lying little twat.
  10. I watch too many of these shows because the big twist was surprising but not !SHOCKING! the way dateline billed it. I was expecting the twist to be that Katie and Bill were messing around.
  11. I'm sorry and I feel terrible for saying this but the two daughters annoyed the CRAP out of me with their whining and fake crying. The story is tragic and I'm sure they feel true feelings of grief and loss so I'm confused about their choice to put on those two year old voices and crocodile tears every time they answered a question. I thought Katie did it but I can understand why the first jury couldn't reach a verdict. I think the rape accusation and attempted poisoning ultimately sealed her fate. It's a shame the family is so broken. While I dont think the husband did it, I did find it skeevy that he and the sister hooked up. I cant even imagine my BIL in a romantic light. Yuck!
  12. I didn't see the original so maybe that's why I didn't like it. The men seem like cartoon characters but perhaps that changes in later episodes. I'm sticking with it for the music and the lead actress but so far, not impressed.
  13. Someone upthread posted that she's leaving the show next season and moving to NY. Assuming that's true, good for her and great for me LOL.
  14. I want to thank Kenya's husband, real or not, for getting Kenya off the show. He's the real MVP! I wish her a wonderful, happy life far away from my TV screen. Bye ashy!
  15. I thought it was interesting that grandpa refused to snitch, so to speak. When questioned about watching the baby, he said something like "I remember my granddaughter saying that, and it was the first time I'd heard it." So basically, they never left the baby with him and he isn't going to be honest about it. All of them are terrible people and I can't fathom going to such lengths to cover up an accident.
  16. Hispanic and Latino aren't races. One can be both white and Hispanic, which it sounds like Carter was.
  17. I'm so glad the daughters got out of that cult. I did wonder why Becky was still wearing her hair in one long braid... Re the second story, they telegraphed who did it even more than usual. That Carter was a piece of work. She creeped me out at first and then she just disgusted me with her helpless victim act. I hope she rots.
  18. I have to say, I love that we can be shallow about appearance here. No cries of eyebrow or body shaming here LOL. Y'all are my people!
  19. I've had the distinct "pleasure" of having a religious predator try (and fail) to bible thump me into bed. I won't bore you with the details but I'll just say Jonathan's MO was very familiar. I have no doubt he used that strategy on several aging desert bumpkins who needed attention. That said, only one of them was dumb enough to have her husband murdered over him. I don't judge what folks do in their bedrooms but swinging with close friends has disaster written all over it. I wonder why Jason and Kelly divorced... It takes a special kind of person to kill the mother or father of their children knowing it will cause the kind of pain that little boy was going through. I can't even imagine it. So for that reason, I'm not mad that Brina got more time.
  20. Well that was infuriating. Blonde lady almost seemed smug when she recounted the phone call story. Who does that? And brunette friend left her there without her phone and didn't even think about her until late the next day. Who does that? Those two were horrible, horrible friends, my goodness. And blonde mom's solution to humiliation and a nose injury is to drink more? Garbage. If I were either one of them I would have never shown my face on tv. But obviously the killer was worse. He might actually be one of the biggest losers I've seen on this show, socially speaking. All murderers are losers but this guy seemed content to do nothing but smoke weed and have sex all day. The two other losers who lied to police also pissed me off and I'm so glad they got thrown in jail for it.
  21. My least favorite quote is when Jackie is worried about being a good mom and has a dream she misplaced her baby. Roseanne responds with this: "Oh, every mom has that dream, Jackie. You just reach in through the back of the crib, You know, into the dragon's mouth, And then you get that banana, Bring it out, blow on it. It turns back into the baby, And then you just fly away." It was so unfunny and dumb that even a few of the audience members groaned.
  22. You know what's easier than commissioning someone to kill your pregnant girlfriend? Wearing a condom. That piece of shit is right where he belongs.
  23. The last Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen annoyed me a bit. A girl goes to college in Louisiana, leaves because of money, but stays in town to find work so she can eventually go back to school. She ends up murdered by the guy who employed her, and at the end, Hansen asks her father "what cautionary tale can young women take from this?" and instead of her dad cursing him out, he said "don't try to be on your own in a big city without family around." The whole thing was so completely tone deaf. We're always teaching women how not to get harmed or killed. Maybe "don't trust men ever" is a better cautionary tale.
  24. The only person I liked was the handyman, because as an avid true crime viewer, I imagine I too would likely refuse to move or touch an obviously dead body. The husband and wife were tacky and greedy, the best friend gave me really bad vibes, the dad was full of it, and the supporting players seemed to be enamored of the doc and his (funny) money. Given the evidence we saw in the show, I wouldn't have been able to convict because there seemed to be reasonable doubt. But I'm sure Dateline left out a lot.
  25. I don't get this either. It takes 2 seconds to lock a door behind you and you lose nothing by doing it. Not doing it could cost you a lot. It's weird.
