  1. Probably somebody's guest. Or maybe she's private cheffing?
  2. I think practically every interaction Hannah has had with Travis with regard to his drinking has been counterproductive.
  3. On Below Deck last season, Ashton put a towel or shirt over the bunk camera when things were getting intimate with Laura. At least one of these yahoos has some discretion and sense of privacy!
  4. I do agree with this. If you take a promotion and you're replaced, your old job is filled. If you screw up the job you're promoted into, you don't have the right to go back to the other job. At least not in most workplaces. Last in, first out really only applies with people doing the same job. I think Anastasia is now the one who is "redundant." Failing at that job was the risk she took by taking it, and she should have offered to leave the boat when she talked to Sandy about it. It seems, though, that there was an unspoken (or unaired) agreement between Sandy and Anastasia that Sandy had a chef "on call" because I think Sandy said something like, "I'll see if that chef is still available." If this is the case, that they had a chef waiting in the wings for when Anastasia inevitably cried "Uncle," then even more they should have warned June that it might be a very temporary gig.
  5. To me, it just means this is probably not the right job for her. The fact that her slow processing means others have to work harder does become a workplace issue. Or that maybe a fire starts in the galley. Not that she should be treated unkindly, but work is work, and jobs have specific standards. Having said that, I think that if she were a little more socially at ease in general, people might be more helpful to her. But socializing is - again - part of this particular job. It's your job to interact smoothly and professionally with strangers all day while serving their needs. She just doesn't seem cut out for this work at all, and her processing speed is not the only issue. Plus, she seems absolutely miserable.
  6. I think he's probably contractually obligated to participate in these outings.
  7. Didn't they also break maritime rules by jetskiing too close to other boats/swimmers and the shore? They were also the only group drunk enough to puke on deck. I think maybe they were more trouble than we saw.
  8. She said she did that so she could remember/clarify what was meant. So she really didn't learn how to read an analog clock OR fractions in elementary school (or anytime since).
  9. Do they really not teach kids to tell time using a clock face anymore? I remember learning that as part of school in like maybe 1st grade.
  10. That is really an awesome story and if it were mine, I'd be dining out on it for years! I don't know why his friends were arguing with him about it, TBH. That was one exhausting dinner conversation vibe. They didn't even stop talking over each other when Hannah or Sandy were trying to talk to them. Drunk, I suppose. When Anastasia got all "I'm going to do something" about Travis, I was sure she was going to report it to Sandy. Then when she was summing up in her conversation to Travis ("there are never any consequences to your actions"), I was SURE she was going to say, "And of course you know that I have to report this to the Captain." But no.
  11. I think it's her plating -- she seems to do it in stages. So, like, she plates the rice and it sits there on the plate getting cold while she finishes the meat/fish. I also think when she is resting the meat, it's someplace where it can cool off. If she doesn't have heat lamps or help plating, she needs to do it strategically and fast. She also shouldn't be plating until there are stews/deckhands right there, ready to take the plates up. Seems like she sometimes plates and then calls for people to bring the food up. Timing is everything. Being a chef is more than just cooking well, right? 🙂 ETA: I don't understand why the stews can't help her plate...
  12. I think this would be deemed a hostile work environment, or something like that. I agree with @Passing Strange that we need to be precise. Rape, sexual harassment, sexual molestation, assault, etc. -- they are NOT THE SAME THING.
  13. Joao's comment about Aesha looking like an escort was just so so unnecessary. They were all in a good mood, gathering for dinner, and Jack was paying her a compliment (he seemed to be paying everyone a compliment as they arrived). I don't understand what possessed him. He seems to make a habit of non-sequitur, out-of-left-field insults. Like when Anastasia was talking about taking on the chef job and how hard it is, etc., he just piped in, "Are you a four star, Michelin chef? No." I mean he was proving her point, in a way, she's NOT a Michelin chef, therefore it's going to be hard for her. It was just so unnecessary and demeaning. I know there is editing, but why would you even bother to jump in with such a mean insult? I don't get him. Maybe he is in a tightly controlled rage at all times, and it just leaks out at random moments. He does have sort of crazy eyes...
  14. One of the guests said, "I took both, because I'm x, y, z" I can't remember what he said, but he had two slices on cake* on his plate. I think that's why they were serving it, instead of just having a plated dessert, since there was a choice. Either way I think it's a set-up, too. * I would have taken two slices, too. 😉
  15. Yeah, I didn't get what that complaint was about. They were being offered key lime pie or cheesecake. Did he request key lime pie be served to him and then say he didn't like it when the Captain came up?
  16. My biggest issue is that people have lost all sense of occasion. There's been a flattening out of all different social settings into one single sphere where one kind of attire (athleisure, sloppy, "comfortable") and one kind of behavior/manners (crude, self-centered, braggy) are used for all occasions. I still behave, dress, speak differently at work than I do with friends, differently at a funeral than in a bar, etc. I find people unabashedly showing the full range of bad behavior freely in the public sphere, whether on social media or actually in public, disheartening. Which is to say, the crude behavior at the resort would have been ok if they were dancing at a club, but -- and this was Joao's point also -- it was embarrassingly inappropriate for that setting.
  17. They need a Yacht Psychotherapist. Not even joking.
  18. I don't understand Cap Sandy's reasoning that Anastasia will get better with less help. Unless production made her do it...
  19. It does seem a little phony that two charters have the exact same complaint (temperature). Also, if I was eating outside on a windy sea, I wouldn't expect the food to stay hot for very long, right? Seems producer-driven to me. Which is not to say that there aren't other legit complaints (portion size, hair, timing of service).
  20. I know this is the least of the bad behavior on display, but I find it appalling how those two drunkards were freely spilling booze and making an unholy mess all over the yacht's bar. It's your friends (or, as Travis says "family") who will have to clean it up, idiots, and by tomorrow, too.
  21. I hear you. FWIW, the very best work advice I ever got, and it was early in my career, was to learn how to say "I fucked up." It's amazing how instantly that can defuse a confrontation, and how freeing it can be personally.
  22. Honestly, if I suspected my boss wasn't happy with me or my work, and I wasn't prepared to leave the job, I'd try to win her/him over through working harder/better. IMO, bosses mostly "don't like" employees who make their own jobs harder. Having said that, bosses sometimes will stick to a first (negative) impression of someone, and not give them a second chance.
