I'm not sure if the lady that sold my mother's house is a Realtor or real estate agent. We are in Maryland & I'm guessing she's a realtor. She is one lady who hustled to get my mom's house sold asap & she did. I can't imagine the Duggars working at her speed to sell a house.
ETA: we did have a dud agent once so they all aren't perfect.

Kids love flashlights! They're useful for adults too. Bath bombs, fun or fuzzy socks, chapstick or lip gloss, mini bottles of alcohol, ear buds...nothing too exciting but useful stuff.
Speaking of flashlights, one year my MIL found everyone a flashlight that has to be wound up for power - no batteries needed. The kids loved it as well as the adults. Mine has a special place in the desk drawer in our living room so I know exactly where it is when the power goes out and it has come in handy many a time.
One year my mom found ring flashlights at Kmart for my son & niece's Easter baskets. They were really nothing special - just velcroed on their finger but they really got a hit out of them.

Instagram really needs to get their shit together.
Since Jessa has her hands on Esther's shoulders does that mean she's planning to adopt her?

My brother-in-law definitely has the outside Christmas light decorating gene. Nothing tacky - just white lights everywhere. He gives Clark Griswald a run for his money. He already bought white lights on sale this year along with a great sale he found after Christmas last year so he'sready to go. He had to upgrade his power a few years ago because a fuse or two blew would blow everytime the outside lights were on & my sister-in-law used a hair appliance.
The poster who said she collected thrift store goodies as gifts throughout the year brought back nice memories for me. My mom & some of the other ladies in our neighborhood were faithful garage sale goers when I was growing up. One year, I think when I was about 9 or 10, she got me all kind of small stocking stuffer trinkets like a deck of cards, costume jewelry, hand lotion, ornaments, etc. The items outgrew my stocking & had to be moved to a box instead. I had such fun opening them. I don't remember what else I got that year but I will never forget my box of goodies.

Any other weirdos here that can't stand cantaloupe?
I can't even stand to have one cut up in my house...ugh..the smell.🤢
And why oh WHY do many fruit salads (like in hotels or restaurants) have so much cantaloupe in them??
Just me? 😁
Add me to the table. I love watermelon but can't stand cantaloupe. I agree with you about smell of cantaloupe. I wonder too why there is so much cantaloupe & other melons in fruit salad. I guess they are cheaper than other fruits like berries.
My son was excited when he found out the diner in college served fruit salad. That was until he realized how much melon they added to it.
Luckily I didn't have to tolerate liver growing up. My mother couldn't stand it when she was growing up & said she would never feed it to her family. She never did.

What happened to all the masks they showed the TTH girls making with Jana supervising on the show? The ones they delivered to the local family members?
I'm sure it's just easier pulling a disposable mask out of a box than trying to track down a clean hand made one. (Or even a dirty one the way they are.)

I just can't understand why these kids don't t deserve a plate or even a napkin and have to eat directly off the table. Who is the gal in red shirt at the end of the table? I thought it was a heavier Michaela Bates for a quick moment.
It is sort of weird about the Bates and Covid. We had to see Carlin & Evan sprawled and suffering in bed with their humidifier/nebulizer when they had it.
I can't keep these families straight. Didn't the Bates (Kelly?) make a public statement a while back that some of them had been diagnosed with Covid?
BTW, I just got my prescription strength anti nausea medicine rx filled. Plenty to go round for everyone. Just in case Jill posts some more obnoxious pictures.

What's with the glasses? Is it supposed to be a funny dig against people who do need and wear glasses, myself included? A throwback to the 60's & 70's style of glasses?
This is similar to the I Love You Day celebration the Bates had where they were dressed up as older folk, wearing wigs &using walkers & canes. I use both a walker & a cane & a wheelchair & found this offensive as well.

It looks like Nathan has the same trait that I do (and my dad, and my son, and my grandson...granddaughter is too young yet to see if she's in on it as well)-we all stick out the tips of our tongues when we're concentrating. We joke about it with each other, but we don't photograph it and post it on SM. Oh, and Jill Most Godly? You're supposed to be paying attention to the sermon, like your daughter and SIL are, not shooting pics over your shoulder. Daniel of the Laundromat would be very displeased with you.
Boy that's coincidence. I have done the tongue concentrating thing since at least high school when we took typing & shorthand tests. (Yes, I'm from the stone ages.) I even had a certain position I placed my left leg behind me too. But the funny part is I was just talking to Mr. Barb about it the other day. He didn't have a clue even after i showed him and thought I was nuts.

Was Jill the only one in the family to see the couple off by going inside the airport? I'm sure it has to do with following them with her camera. My brother has always gotten a drop off at the curb. Same with picking him up when he arrives. No pomp & circumstance for him.

Ben or at least his knees & lower legs made an appearance in the garden video. IIRC, jessa told Ivy to give Daddy a small tomato or whatever else she was munching on. The picture panned to a pair of legs wearing longer shorts and at first I thought it was Jessa wearing the shorts but then realized it was Ben. It gave me the vapors for a moment.

Two choices with his hair. It looks like he's doing an old man combover. Or whatever the style is that a lot of younger guys are wearing with a side part and the rest short.
Don't have a clue about the puffy coats & bare feet/sandals.

Sometimes it’s gets scary coming here to check in on all of you. All of you have had such trials and tribulations. We almost need to change the thread to the Prayer Closet: Followers of Job. I will send up all the positivity that I can for all of you. 2021 just has to get better. This year sucks.
I have split pea soup with ham on the stove. It stopped pouring rain and I am reading a good book while listening to some classic rock. A comforting kind of day. My family is well and I have a lot to be grateful for. That’s my good news.
@zoomama I’m looking forward to a good post surgery report from you.
@Nysha I really hope things turn around for all the people that you care about. Big hug on its way.
Prayers for Everyone on here. There can never be too many.Split pea soup is one of my favorites too. Its sort of weird. I don't care for peas by themselves but I will eat a few if mixed into vegetable soup or some other dish with peas in it but love homemade pea soup.
I've been scared to stop by the Prayer Closet too on occasion. I like your new title that includes Job. My mom used to say I had the patience of Job with all my health problems.
I had a Happy Friday if that can count instead of Sunday. I saw a fill in doctor at the wound center I go to for my leg wounds & was pleasantly surprised. He asked a lot of questions about my history & seemed to know his stuff even though he was just filling in. He did a culture & sensitivity test on a spot on one leg the home nurse was concerned about. I'm not too worried. It will just be a round of antibiotics if it is positive.
I've had some off & on problems & pain with my arthritis but it's not nearly as bad as other folks here with their problems so I'm thankful about that.
I've also decided on the Christmas gifts for the ladies in my family. I started coming up with something homemade or a little different a few years ago & the gifts have been a hit. I'm not very crafty but came across decorated memo books & other little items I'm going to cover with scrapbook paper & other doodads. I got the idea off You Tube - a lot of these women are into making them for craft shows. I finished ordering all my supplies this weekend & just have to come up with something to put everything in.
I'm really excited about working on them. Keeping my mind on them and not my RA pain has helped immensely. Of course those Duggars have to invade my mind. I keep thinking why can't the girls work on some kind of craft they can sell at a craft or church sale especially the newlywed ladies who do nothing while waiting for the first offspring to come along?
Hope everyone has a good week.

I think these portable type mixers/smoothie makers have been sold on QVC before mainly at the beginning of summer. Maybe not this year since people didn't travel much because of Covid but I know they were hustled somewhere. I'm sure they were cheaper (both in price and quality) from QVC than whatever company Jinger was promoting.

Back when Jill was brunette, writing in 3rd person, and brown nosing the Bateses and Duggars.
Thanks for sharing. I needed some laughs & snark after the the Small Talk thread.
Erin's dress was atrocious. I think by now they've figured out they can wear a modest wedding gown without adding non-matching modesty t-shirt panels to it. Erin was even laughing about her gown on a recent rerun of one of the girl's weddings. Think it was Michael's. She was having a hard time picking out a dress & Erin laughed & offered hers.

@lookeyloo _ my prayer - may those that care for your son at this time be skilled. may every action they take with him be caring and gentle.
17 hours ago, marypat57 said:Dearest LookeyLoo and family: I know that there is nothing that I can say or do that can change the news you received today. Lots of hugs, virtual good wishes and prayers for you and sweet son. If I lived nearby, I’d come and do laundry or deliver snacks or meals.
Cancer is vile, it sucks and I wish it upon no one. Earlier this year, my family had experience with an absolutely amazing hospice program. The nurses were some of the most kind and compassionate people I have ever met in my life. They could not have been more supportive of the patient and were so attentive to her needs . I hope that you and your sweet son have nurses just like my family had.Our family was also blessed with a wonderful caring group of support people. And this was during the major Covid outbreaks which didn't make it any easier since their regular procedures had to be adjusted. These are definitely special groups of people . All the ones we dealt with said they would rather doing nothing else.
More hugs & thoughts to you, your son, family and any other care worker.

The way she's holding the baby. Ugh. That's not how you hold one!
I used to hold my baby dolls better than that when I was little.

It scared me too when baby Gracie went on her first flight with JD, Abbie and Aunt Jana. I know these kids will grow up like it's no big deal to fly in one of these unsafe sardine cans but it really upsets me when they take an very young infant along like Evey. Is it ok to remove baby from car seat? (I realize Duggars aren't big on safety.) How does Joy feed her? How do you deal with crying spells that babies get for no reason? I guess it's up to whoever is riding shotgun with the baby to be the caretaker.

I made the mistake of watching a minute of Carlin and Evan “camping” on YouTube. They are so dumb I couldn’t bear to watch. Apparently they think everything they do is interesting. I feel bad for Layla, she is just a plaything to them.
I made the same mistake & watched it too. Most ten year olds are more mature than those two. I agree with the posters who thought it was funny they forgot to bring wood when the family business involves tree servicing.

I saw this thread was "hot" and figured Jessa was knocked up again.
I'm thinking one of them is. Kind of weird cuz I usually don't have any thoughts about a possible Duggar pregnancy. Lauren is jumping out now to me. Maybe she wants to be the first to deliver the next round of Duggaretts even tho I don't think her & Si are ready for a new baby yet. BTW, do we know if any of them are pregnant now? I'm getting all my fundy families confused with new relationships.

What a look for Jill. I'm not used to anyone wearing 3 inches of spackled on makeup & a chiffonny type blouse to do outside (church) cleanup work. That blouse had to be very itchy.
Maybe she thought she had to dress up for the Lord.

Small Talk: The Prayer Closet
in Counting On
· Edited by Barb23
My good for the day is I got my pain med refill. It was desperately needed. Something got hung up & I had to get it today instead of yesterday. I am not a druggie just a 58 year old lady who needs to take narcotic pain medicine. At least I like the the pharmacist &she knows I take it and don't sell it. God forbid I sell my pain medicine. I need it. (For all the hoops I have to jump through to get it each month, there isn't any way I'm selling it or giving it someone else. I don't want to be writing you all from my cell in the Big House. (Just kidding!)
HVe a good day everyone. Enjoy any leftover Halloween candy.
Mr Barb is working on his Christmas shopping today - Amazon gift cards. It's taking him a little bit because he likes to pick out the Christmas tins that Amazon sells with the gift cards..
