  1. I am through seven episodes. I'm interested enough to keep watching to find out how they're going to have all of this play out. But it's pretty fascinating how All About Danny this family is considering it appears the brunt of Danny's troubles come from his childhood. If I drank every time they said "Danny" I'd be dead! I'm also not sure if we are supposed to like or sympathize with him at all. I don't but part of it's Ben Mendelsohn's manner of speaking. He actually looks and speaks like the mess he is. I think I'd be a little weirded out if I were staying at the inn and I had to spend an extended period of time with him.
  2. I just finished my now annual full series re-watch. Yes, the whole thing! Maybe it's because I didn't watch the entire series until it was over but I enjoy watching seasons six and seven, even though there is a definite difference in tone at times. I love Jimmy Smits and Alan Alda's performances and they're probably a little underrated because they joined the show after the "glory years." I also love Patricia Richardson! Does she even get noted for her time as Sheila now? It's always a fun rewatch and I shed a few tears during the final episode as if it isn't nine years old and I haven't seen it many times before. It's hard to believe that there was a time in my life that this show wasn't a part of it. Now I look forward to re-watching every year!
  3. It took two years to get to the wormhole near Saturn, so 25 years have passed since Cooper left. I think it's believable that the character is 35 (Tom is 15 so he wouldn't be much younger than that). Obviously it's young for Matt but his character was a farmer so it makes sense if he's aged a little more than average given how much time he spends outside/physical his job is.
  4. I loved Nick when he was the Yankees and his (and many others) departure from the team has bummed me out quite a bit the past few years. So glad to see him this series and he's really good at it too! A little over the top at times but that's Nicky.
  5. Madison Bumgarner has been absolutely, without a doubt beyond expectation fantastic this postseason. We really saw something extremely special happen here and I'm just so excited about it. He's 25 years old and the best pitcher the World Series has ever seen. That is absolutely incredible.
  6. Bum's apparently available to go a few innings tomorrow. No way he starts but might see him piggyback Hudson if things get at all dicey. Clean slate tomorrow, phew!
  7. That game was so entertaining! The back and forth made it exciting for awhile and then boom, offensive explosion!
  8. I had no idea Mark Teixeira had a personality until this year, so he has that going for him!
  9. I think he'll get votes but I doubt he'd win over Jacob deGrom. If his season with the Giants had started a little earlier, he might've had a better shot. Madison Bumgarner is flat out dominant and there is no other way to put it. I think the Royals will stand a better chance against the other Giants starters. This series is far from over.
  10. A great glossary for those unfamiliar with the Giants! It starts tonight!
  11. Jake does have poor eyesight. He normally wears glasses for his press interviews and contacts when he pitches, so maybe he didn't have his contacts in? Either way, he was rushing Ishikawa because he didn't realize the ball had gone out. Ishi later clarified that he wasn't sure what the specifics of the rules were about running the bases for the homer to count and if he'd be penalized if he stopped running at any time, which is why he pushed Jake out of the way saying "MOVE! I HIT IT OUT!" It's a pretty funny story. And I hope Jake gets some fresh contacts for the World Series. What a crazy and fun game that was! As much as I love Travis' homer and big moment, Michael Morse's felt just as huge and I couldn't be happier for him. I know a lot of baseball fans without a horse in the race are going to be rooting for the Royals but the Giants never fail to amaze me with how much fun they are and how they manage to create these awesome moments. It's this kind of magic that ultimately made me a fan of the Giants back when I was mostly into the AL and they stole my heart! And even playing against the Royals, I hope they steal a few more along the way!
  12. I think he'd be allowed to play if they "benched" him, but if they take him off the roster due to his injury to replace him with someone else, he wouldn't be able to play. Obiques are pretty rough, Michael Morse just missed over a month with a mild strain, so I'll be surprised if Yadi is available for the rest of this series. I do wonder if they'll just eat his roster spot though. Ugh, to tie the game like that and then still lose was a bummer!
  13. The Royals remind me of the postseason Giants in a few ways. So it should be interesting if it's a Giants/Royals World Series.
  14. Baseball gods need to help out some managers a bit more when it comes to the postseason before that happens, it seems.
  15. I know I'm biased because I like them but this Giants team is a lot of things and boring is not one of them. Part of why I became as invested in the Giants as I have over time is because they are just so much fun to root for and have such a great cast of characters. I didn't really pay attention to NL ball until 2010 when the Giants were all of a sudden on national TV and I fell hard. I know it's boring that two teams that have been there a lot in the past few years are there again but the current makeup of these two teams, their current abilities and the current struggles both teams have are going to make this a crazy series, I think. It's going to be fun to watch. I'm excited.
  16. I love Madison and his ability to rake. Dude can really run into one and he's actually stayed in to bat for himself in situations where a pitcher would normally be pinch hit for because he really can get stuff done. I do wish he had just gotten a single with the bases juiced yesterday though. I would prefer the Giants not have to go back to Washington. The hitting in this series has been light for both teams so it's really a matter of who can get it done first and hold it. Bring it tonight, Vogey!
  17. I don't agree about Williams. If Storen hadn't given up a hit, there would have been little question about his move. He's a first-year manager and it's possible his inexperience of managing in the postseason did get in his way but I can't entirely blame him for the move (and I'm saying that as objectively as possible). Bruce Bochy's forte is the postseason. That he brought in his closer in the 11th to get the heart of the Nats order says a lot about him and how he manages his bullpen. He was also damn lucky to have Yusmeiro Petit.
  18. This game has been happening for six hours. They can't give it away!
  19. Yes, the rocks in the outfield is one of my favorite parts of Angel Stadium! Also, prior to going there myself for the first time this summer, I always thought that the Jack in the Box sign was simply an advertisement but no, there's an ACTUAL Jack in the Box out there!
  20. Mmm, that was a good game. Good pitching by Peavy, some timely hitting and a pretty Bryce homer that didn't mean anything in the long run. Good on the Giants for grabbing that first one!
  21. I understand and appreciate in a lot of ways the effort to keep the games from overlapping. But the noon start time is a sucky one. And with three West Coast teams involved, it makes it so that anyone on the West Coast trying to enjoy the postseason has games starting at 9am! But there's really no way around it, I don't think, if they want to keep games from overlaping, and they are obviously trying to consider time zones when deciding which teams get which slot (both ET teams in the noon games, no ET team in the last game) but yeah. It can be annoying.
  22. As a huge Brandon Crawford and Brandon Belt fan, that game was really fun for me. I genuinely like the Pirates but the Giants are my guys and this season has been so up and down. That Madison was able to deal and those two were able to back him up with SEVEN RBIs between them? It's amazing. I can't get over how good Madison Bumgarner is and I probably won't any time soon. Can't wait to see what this Nats series brings!
  23. I definitely did. But even if he had made the play, who knows if there would have been an out. The run might not have scored there but the Royals still would have had a chance. That was a CRAZY game and I hope some of the chaos is out of the Wild Card's system. I'd love a fun and thrilling game tonight but I also don't know if I can take 12 innings of not knowing what the hell is going to happen!
  24. I'm already nervous for tomorrow's Wild Card game. At least I can watch tonight's for practice. I don't really care who wins tonight but I'd take the Royals over the A's, if I had to choose.
  25. Definitely rooting for the Royals and Orioles in the AL. I am really bored of the Tigers being in the playoffs so wouldn't mind seeing them out of it early. But still holding out hope the Royals get the AL Central! Also holding out hope the Pirates can get the Central from the Cardinals. And then whoever wins that just gets the Dodgers the heck out of the playoffs! Go Giants! This has been a weird season for them but this team has managed to do a lot of stuff these past few years and they get a little nuts when October rolls around. Anything can happen in a one-game playoff.
