  1. Rant away if you wish, Kalliste. Although pizza and Daredevil sound like a good use of your time, too. :)
  2. I second that getting old sucks. And, hey, KoB, at least you were reaching. I've had back and knee problems doing nothing at all!
  3. [covers ears] I'm not listening! I'm not listening! I'm sure there must be a couple of awesome colleges in the next town that would be perfect for my twins! [sticks head in sand]
  4. Thanks for checking in and responding, LL! I'm sure that's very difficult, when they start staying around school for the summer. It's one more step toward, "We're staying at home this Christmas and starting our own little traditions...maybe we'll see you at Easter...definitely sometime this summer." :( Must...keep...kids...close! I'm already planning that next summer will be very busy with getting them prepared for college. I'm hoping they'll both have their full driver's licenses by then, but even if they do, doctor visits and shopping and such are still situations when they want Mom.
  5. possibilities, we'll still have one at home when our twins go off to college. If I'd had my kids one at a time, I might have stopped at two. But I started with twins, and I didn't want to go through everything double-strong, but just once. So we went for the 2nd pregnancy/3rd kid. I think a gradual emptying of the nest will be easier on me than if I only had two kids and they were out of the house in a snap like that. Liberry Lady would be able to speak to that, but I don't think she ever joined us over here. (Or did she, and it's just been forever since she's checked in? Somebody yell at her to get over here.)
  6. I'm not sure the boxes are coming up around the quotes... Anyway! KOB's "never" was in reply to the lavender kilt, but since it's underlined, I hovered my cursor there, thinking it was going to be a link to KOB in a kilt. Sadly, sometimes an underline is just an underline. :( Even worse, one of your mods forced "Jolene" upon us. "Jolene" apparently came out in 1973, which means a few years later I probably skated around a roller rink to it. Anything that falls into that category is automatically cringe-worthy. I do agree that Miley Cyrus keeping her tongue in her mouth is a vast improvement, though. Does she think it looks good when she does that? Is it her "I'm full of mischief, ain't I cute?" look? I don't know -- it's just weird. On another subject, did I mention to you all that I have two kids who'll (hopefully) be going off to college in the fall of 2016? So looking into colleges is something that's in full swing around here. At least it's a lot easier to find information on schools than when I was looking into them!
  7. Checking out TitanTV for Monday, it looks like the following soap operas are still going on... CBS: The Young and the Restless; The Bold and the Beautiful. ABC: General Hospital. NBC: Days of Our Lives. Those are the ones in English. Long ago, I watched All My Children and then GH as well. My sister got into Passions. AMC and Passions are gone, though. I stopped watching soaps when there was an almost-rape scene on and my toddler twins were around -- I could hardly get to the TV fast enough to shut it off. Then there was a long weekend, and a few days that I couldn't watch it for various reasons, and I thought, "This is the time to go cold turkey, when I've already had a few days of it!"
  8. I've tasted many GF pizzas and for the most part given up on the idea that there are any out there that compare with my memory of a really good pizza. On the other hand, there are a lot of things that can be made GF very well. But still, I'd be happy to attend the theoretical wedding and eat whatever GF things available. And maybe we should throw something really useful, like Amazon gift cards, instead of rice or TVGuides. But possibilities, as the hypothetical bride, we will throw whatever you want us to throw. And do you have to eat gluten-free? I don't remember. I've never heard of "Candy Bars" at weddings! It sounds phenomenal! Way better than Jordan almonds that people used to have.
  9. All my friends married long ago or may never at this point. I expect my next series of weddings will be nieces and nephews getting married. So far, two have, which was great fun.
  10. More than one Elvis = Elvi. Everybody knows that! ;) King of Birds, those were some of the best possible poll answers ever. And while I have known you for quite some time, I was glad you had a "dude, I've been married way longer than that" kind of option.
  11. Plus, how could we all get to the UK? It takes 4.5 seasons to wander around the large city you start near. Then if you're really lucky, and the writers want it to happen, you can make it about 600 miles real quick. But once you hit ocean? So unrealistic!
  12. nachomama, the correct answer is hope they forgot and wait for the bill to yell at them. Obviously! Because you could end up with free AMC forever, if they screwed up just right. :)
  13. And if you really, really don't want to cater their wedding...say you can't do it. You don't do weddings, it's more pizzas than you feel you can handle, you have too much going on that weekend, whatever. And say it so they believe it. There's just no reason to insult people. Except I guess insulting people is exactly what they wanted to do. :(
  14. I had to say no on the waffle cone w/ chicken in it...because it's not gluten-free. But in my pre-celiac days, or if they made it GF, yeah, I would try that. Why have pizza brought to your wedding when you can just tell your guests to swing through some kind of drive-thru on their way from the church to the reception? Just as classy, and keeps the wedding budget down!
  15. Does he at least use the phone in some other room, way away from your appropriately fanatic watching of The Walking Dead? Because if not, we have to have a community meeting about your boyfriend. Once we've all said our piece(s), we might have to ban him. Actually, we're totally gonna ban him. Unacceptable!!
  16. Daryl said that the events that transpired with the poor tree lady that he and Aaron found had just happened, right? She had the "W," and I think that she just became zombified when Daryl moved her head. Her eyes seemed clear (if I recall correctly) and then turned cloudy. So that would indicate pre-walker. They like to hack up the bodies because they're super-swell people that we'd all love to hang with. Oops. I meant, we'd all love to hang them. From their feet, alive, dangling within Walker-height. Come this way, walkers. Yummy wolves not far.
  17. Carl had to grow into it; so did many of the grown-ups!! I think it's safe enough to wait until the ZA happens to teach the kids to stick knives into heads. (Where else could a person write that sentence?)
  18. I watched TO from the beginning, but didn't start talking to "any old person" ;) about it until the spring/summer of season 2, I think.
  19. Who has to get back into thinking about colleges because she has two juniors in high school? This girl! Kinda scary.
  20. FPP gets my vote for the big "buh-bye" tonight, too. That said...why didn't FPP just stand up when he was on the rock? He's practically reclining, and his bare hand is pretty close to the edge. C'mon, walkers, just step to the left a bit and scratch that hand but good!
  21. When GoT starts back up again, please don't talk about specifics here, or hint things like, "Wow, I didn't think there'd be that many deaths! Can you believe what Tyrion did?" I can't watch GoT live, and I don't want to be spoiled in one of my Small Talk homes. If you feel you'll all be chatting GoT specifics here, let me know and I'll have to avoid this thread until I've seen the show...like I avoid twitter, tumblr, etc. for that day. :/ Walking Dead is the same kind of thing, by the way. I can't watch until Monday morning, so social media is off limits and I this is the only WD thread I'll visit until I've seen the episode.
  22. Cool. Talking about The Office was what really brought me into talking to strangers online. Look at me now!
  23. I don't really remember all the details of acceptances, rejections, etc. I think I applied to 5 colleges; people now seem to apply to a lot more. I know I had 2 acceptances and 1 waiting list. I can't remember other than that. And maybe I only applied to 4 schools, because I'm not coming up with the fifth. It was a long, long, time ago.
  24. Just give me all the bacon and deviled eggs that you have. You might want to plant a big one on a cute coworker. Chocolate lunch? Please and thank you.
  25. I used to accidentally kick things all of the time and break toes. Ouch. All you can do is tape the toe to the next one to help give it some support and therefore lessen the pain. :/ I finally started wearing slippers or crocs or shoes at all times except in the shower or if I'm lying in bed or on the couch. As soon as I'm vertical, something goes on the feet. Clumsy, party of 1! ETA: I guess that should be "Clumsy, party of 2," because Kalliste will join me. Anyone else here who accidentally kicks things? How about hitting a shoulder on a door frame because you forgot your shoulder width? Not...that that's happened to me...lots of times, or anything. Just making conversation.
