But I can’t really imagine patrons end up saving very much if they also get theater food and snacks, which is where the theaters really get you

Oh I loved moviepass and I used the hell out of it. Once you went to movie, the subscription was paid for. My friend and I ended up seeing a lot of movies at the theater we wouldn't have normally. And since we usually get dinner before, we had no need to get snacks at the theater.

I knew it couldn't last as it was with unlimited movies, so we took advantage for as long as we could!

I found the doc interesting but also annoying. It seemed as if no one had a real plan for this business! I know there is a new moviepass out there now and I did sign up for a bit but there just hasn't been much at the theater to justify the monthly cost, so I cancelled it.

And just what was that with the jealousy and possessiveness Katie was showing?

That's easy to answer. This show is a poorly written mess, where character motivations and so forth make zero sense. When Bill was begging for Katie to give him another chance (number 500 or so), Katie wisely stepped away for good. Bill and Katie haven't had any scenes in ages and now suddenly ... she's jealous I guess. Ugggh. Also ugggh to revisiting this horrible Bill/Poppy/Luna crap.

TCM used to air Treasures from the Disney Vault, hosted by Leonard Maltin.

I remember that! I suppose the issue these days would be Disney wanting to keep all of its stuff under its umbrella and app.

  4. I just started watching this show for the first time since way back in the day.was 6 when this show started, I don't remember much about it. Except the music and my David Cassidy crush!!

I have say I was so surprised watching episodes like when the older contest winner stays with the Partridges. She goes into Keith's bedroom and there he is reading playpen magazine! The magazine shows up in a few other episodes too. I just sat here thinking 'how did they get away with that on a family show?!?'

    Quote

Ricky shows up! Whoever told that kid he could sing was playing a cruel joke. Every time he shows up I think oh, no, him again?

OMG! Completely agree. Maybe I blocked him out or I wasn't watching the show anymore, but I did not remember this kid at all when he popped up. Terrible character and terrible singer.

But as annoying as he is, I found a couple of other characters more annoying: Shirley's parents - particularly her father. Good lawd. I hate every episode they ruin!

The money situation is bizarre. Shirley isn't working at the bank anymore, so I assume she gets a salary from the band stuff. Why don't the kids? Oh I get the college education excuse but come on. In one episode Keith doesn't have a quarter for a taco!

I don't mind they make Keith a bit goofy. I suppose it was an effort for him to not be perfect. Let's face it, in real life he would have been leaving the group as a solo artist, making bank and getting laid every night!

But I guess in Bell-land, biology trumps all else. And you can go ahead and say highly insulting (to Li)...no need to soften it.

OK! Yes, it's all just highly and hugely insulting to Li who was the one there when he was growing up. Has he even spent any time with the woman who raised him and saved his life after Sheila shot him?

And naturally the writers never have Finn question Sheila about when she decided to enter his life and why. She obviously knew where he was and who he was. She only came out of the woodwork when he got involved with the Forrester's.

Not to belabor the point, but Lauren told Deacon the entire Sheila/Sugar story and he's just okay with all that and sees Sheila as a victim?

Make any of this make sense.

  6. In general I of course feel that if an adopted kid wants to know his/he birth parents, then they should. Absolutely.

My issue here is: Sheila shot Finn point blank range. Then after his mother saved his life, Sheila kidnapped him and almost let him die! She also shot the woman he allegedly loves. Why am I supposed to believe Finn is so desperate to have a relationship with this psychopath. It just makes no sense to me. It's dumb and more than a bit insulting to the woman who raised him.

Furthermore, Sheila isn't suddenly well or better or good. Have either Deacon or Finn thought about what Sheila did to Sugar? Of course not, and now the writers are attempting to shorthand some kind of redemption for Sheila.

I just can't with this show. And seriously they bring Ivy back for Liam? That gorgeous, intelligent woman has been pining over that waffle. Just stop it.

Can someone please explain why Patrick and Korte thought it was a great idea to intersperse Joss and Trina talking with scenes of Dex coming out of the shower and taking off his towel?

RJ and Luna aren't married, so I don't see why it's such a big deal that Zende slept with her.  In soaps world, this is a misdemeanor.

If this was all it was, I'd agree. This is typical soap stuff. However, it also involves Luna's lack of consent. She was drugged, she wasn't able to give consent. Bold writers love the 'ol 'misunderstanding' situations that aren't really misunderstandings. Zende was sober and knew something was up, knew Luna wasn't into him in any way and still had sex with her.

That's where my issue lies with this storyline. Not that sex and cheating happened but rather the how of it. And the writers could have easily avoided the issue, it's not that difficult. Have Luna torn between these two guys. She's with RJ but can't deny she's also attracted to Zende. One night, she and Zende are talking and boom they have sex. What does she do? She wants both guys.. Now that's some drama without the rape-y vibes.

After Finn leaves Stuffy, maybe she and Deacon can find each other. Of course for Stuffy it would be just to spite Hope.

I'd be down for that! If it means removing Deacon from the whole Sheila thing, I'm good.

And why is Steffy so annoyed that Deacon was in love with Sheila?

On this point, I'm on Steffy's side. I'm thoroughly annoyed that Deacon was/is in 'love' with Sheila. Uggghh is all I have to say for that alleged relationship.

I don't care one bit about Sheila. I don't care about her damn toes. I want the character to just be legit dead. And I want Deacon to get with practically anyone other than Sheila.

This version of Ridge is the worst. I will never understand why the show sticks with this recast. You can't tell me there aren't any other actors available ... ones with actual charm and charisma.

Only to ask did Oliver have hair? That's the sticking point for me. Not only is Zende bald, but the hair texture is SO OBVIOUSLY different.

That's a fair point but at the same time (hair or not), there was a world of difference between 40-50 year old Ridge and a 20 something Oliver and yet we were supposed to believe Brooke couldn't tell the difference!

But as far as Z and RJ, it's more than just hair. Luna has had sex with RJ and knows his ...moves and his body. Heck Z wouldn't kiss the same!

Anytime any show does this stupid stuff with a look a like or a misunderstanding, the writers act as though the touch, the kisses and the sex would be exactly the same and the partner could never tell the difference. It's ridiculous and stupid but it's been a soap staple for many a year.

So let me get this straight. The drugs Luna took also affected her sense of touch? I mean, Zende has no hair. And well RJ does and the texture is different. Or are we supposed to ignore that?

If I was to believe Brooke couldn't tell the difference between Ridge and Hope's boyfriend Oliver, then I guess I'm supposed to believe this!

Carter who had.an affair with Quinn is questioning Zende about his responsibility? Accountability? No he doesn't need a lecture from you.

That's fair but then again Quinn was a very willing participant. Also, Carter and Quinn were fire which is far more than I can say about Zende and Luna or Luna and RJ. Plus every character on this show is a hypocrite!

Brooke and Thorne are in love

Practically the only time I ever really enjoyed Brooke was this pairing. I loved Brooke and Thorne. That being said, the conclusion was just rage inducing.

I don't think anything about this Sheila isn't dead story makes much sense and certainly no surprise at all that she's still alive, but whatever.

I'm over Sheila. I'm tired of Steffy complaining about her. I don't care about Finn's feelings about his birth mother (he didn't know her at all and what he knew was she shot him and his wife but sure he's so broken up over her 'death'). I'm done with Deacon and his alleged love of Sheila. Just stop it.

And while I think hooking up Hope and Finn would be amazing just because of Steffy, I still don't want to see it. I don't need Hope and Steffy once again at odds over a dude. Isn't it creepy enough they are at odds over Steffy's brother?!?

I know most here don't like Taylor but I thought the current actress had chemistry with Deacon. I'd rather watch that than him blathering about 10 toes.

Jennie Garth has no interest in setting the record straight about her time working with former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider.

The “Beverly Hills, 90210” actor starred alongside Amanda Bynes in the WB sitcom “What I Like About You,” co-created by Schneider, from 2002 to 2006.

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter about her professional relationship with Schneider for an article published last week, however, Garth offered a notably blunt response.

“I don’t want to talk about Dan Schneider ever again in my life,” she said.

I saw this reported and found this quote very telling.

but damn, I'm not "HOT".  If I was doing sex scenes in my 20's and 30's I would have killed it.  Now?  I couldn't possibly compare to my own self from back then and isn't that true of everybody?

When I think of a pairing being hot, it's more about the chemistry. Sure appearances are a part of that but these actors tend to keep themselves in pretty good shape (esp compared to the rest of the population).

I don't think any current pairing really has a ton of chemistry but perhaps it's because love stories aren't written as love stories anymore. I remember waiting forever for some of my favorite couples to kiss for the first time or to say I love you for the first time. It seems to me soaps have forgotten that anticipation in pairings. Perhaps the current writers can fix some of that, I guess we'll see.

Meanwhile, I almost jumped on a high-speed launch back to the barge during the Carly/Jason nonsense at the end of the episode.  Ugh.

I'm going to be the lone outlier on this, but I rather like Carly and Jason together. At least when it seems like SBu is actually working a bit rather than borging. Admittedly, I haven't watched GH regularly since way way way back so I have missed most of Jason's pairings.

Do Jason and Carly have a ton of heat? Well no. But then again what pairing on this show really does? It feels like the romance and sex part of daytime is gone on this show. How have soaps become more conservative all these years later?!?

Though I'm not thoroughly attached to Sam/Dante and Elizabeth/Finn, I basically like them. I'd much rather Jason isn't put with Sam or Elizabeth (which seem to be the only other choices currently on canvas) and so the default is Carly. Plus I do not want her with Sonny (yet again) or back with Drew.

Oddly enough, I find Drew and Nina kind of compelling. Keep exploring that show!

Ava is for sure in on this evul plan against Sonny and I am here for it. Of course Sonny will win in the end (when does he ever not win) but I will take some villain plotting against him until then.

I agree with everyone saying the show has improved. It really really has. I love the longer scenes. I love the characters mixing together more.

I wonder if that also might explain some of those letters of support (though not the language of some of them, 'cause yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah, no, there is no "temptation" involved in sexually abusing a child).

To be honest, I'm still burning with rage over the language in some of those letters. I mean my god! 'That poor adult who was pushed into temptation by a child he could no longer resist.' For shame people, for shame. Also? GROOOOOSSSS!

I was on some site reading about this show and someone in the comments said he had worked in the entertainment biz a long time and worked with a lot of people and no one creeped him out more than Dan Schneider.  I gotta say Schneider is creeping me out just watching this.

but I got the vibe that Brandi may... not be with us anymore?

I'm watching the whole thing right now and I too got that vibe. I hope not but only her mom is interviewed (at least so far) and I don't get a good feeling about it.

I'm far too old to have watched any of these Nick shows but I read Jeannette McCurdy's book and when I saw an ad for this I knew I'd have to watch.

The scariest part about this documentary is that there were some kids whose parents were actually trying to look out for them and keep them safe.

Yeah I have to say at least Drake Bell's dad knew something was up and warned his ex wife. At least Bell's mom called the police when he told her. And even his gf's mom was trying to get him help.

I know terrible stuff goes on in Hollywood all the time but this is tough to watch.

Sheila was your birth mother, as you've told us eleventy billion times just since last week, but in most scenes we saw of her prior to her unfortunate collision with Steffy's knife she was either threatening your family, someone you loved, or you, yourself, when she wasn't busy shooting at you. So watching you wallow in all this anguish over someone with whom you had the strongest connection when you were still attached to her umbilical cord is, shall we say, a little WEIRD?

So much this. Yes, Sheila was his birth mother but he didn't know her at all. Were there tons of bonding scenes that I somehow FF'd through?!? He watched her shoot Steffy and himself point blank. Then once his mom saved his life, Sheila nearly killed him again by holding him hostage.

I mean come on. I know people tend to forget all the bad stuff about a person when they die, but this is ridiculous. Plus even if he didn't want to take everyone's else's word about Sheila's past, there is this thing called google and the internet!

When is Eric going back to the office? I know a lot of people got tired of his story line, but I was really into it. I'd like it if they'd check in on his recovery from time to time and then bring him back to the office.

Currently, this show is incapable of balancing more than one story at a time. I'm not sure why.

I think of all of Steffy's relationships, her best chemistry (maybe only) was with Bill. The show should have had the balls to stick with that. I would agree that current Ridge and KA Taylor had more chemistry than he has with KKL, but KA and KKL had more together than with him!

RJ and Luna are dull and chemistry free for me. Sadly the show seems determined to push them. I think the actors playing Thomas and Hope do have chemistry but them being together makes no sense given his past actions regarding her. Thomas is just problematic period.

  20. It's a wonder Sonny isn't struck lightning the moment he steps foot into a church or chapel.

Anna heard about Sonny and Karen and still boo hoo's with him over Dante? Make it stop already. A mob boss is not a good guy and is not a man of the people.

You know what would be refreshing? If characters didn't act like people coming back from the 'dead' was impossible or shocking. I mean come on at this point how many Port Chuck citizens have done this?!?

I am team Jagger all the way. Those scenes with Sonny were gold.

  21. The first episode available on the app is from 1967, the first day of Dr Karen from Germany. She met Dr Anger in the Chief of Staff office and Dr Anger picked a fight with her. Later Dr Anger got into a physical fight with another dr over Althea ... I think.

I'm used to slower moving older soaps and enjoy them very much. I've been watching Dark Shadows too.

  22. I have never watched this show but I see the episodes are on the it's real good tv app. The app doesn't work on my roku (the ad before the episode starts works just fine and then it crashes) but does work fine on my apple tv. I think it will be fun to explore an old soap which has to feature better writing than anything on the shows currently left. At least I hope so. I'll post more once I get a few episodes watched. I sure hope someone will be here!!

I’m not a fan of Shiela but they act like she’s Godzilla.

But ... that's exactly who she is! Sheila shot and almost killed Steffy and Finn not that long ago. Plus she held Finn captive. Not to mention all of her other crimes. Geez slipping Brooke booze wasn't that long ago either! Why should/would any of these characters give her a break or believe she's been magically changed by Deacon's dick? I no more believe that than I believe Thomas has been changed by the wonder of Hope's va-jay-jay!

    Quote

Sheila being the manipulator she is, she will use anyone and anything as a means to an end.

Exactly. No character on this show or Y&R should ever be treating Sheila like she's a normal because she isn't. I don't think anyone should be getting in her face because she will get revenge.

In fact, I can’t think of any other pairing in this show where I felt the two actors had more romantic chemistry than MA and AN.

They are a meh for me. I mean I'm glad Hope has escaped Liam (for now) but I just do not like her with Thomas.

Of couples currently on screen, I guess they are the best the show has but that is faint praise from me and there isn't much to pick from!

In the past, my favorite Brooke pairing ever was with Thorne. They were awesome. She also had a ton of chemistry with Deacon but that story was pretty icky!!

I loved Wyatt and Katie so naturally it ended. I loved currentRidge and Caroline II, so naturally it ended. I loved Quinn and Carter so naturally it ended. Even Wyatt and Hope were pretty good so naturally it ended. Bill and Katie had chemistry at the beginning but that ended a long time ago. Bill and Brooke were hawt but naturally this show ruined them (remember Bill choosing Skye over Brooke? Skye of course was a building. Good times).
