The only trouble I had with the sex scene was that we could see Sophie's ribs. Give that girl a PB&J sandwich!

Seeing ribs is not an indicator of ill health.  Rather quite the opposite, unless you see them at the clavicle.  I thought Sophie was beautiful.

  2. Pretty much everything I loved about the show is gone to be honest.   If it was the showrunner leaving, he needs to come back.  It doesn't feel the same, at all.  And it's not the plot/books.

I’ve read that Laura Donnelly was in the midst of doing a play on Broadway, and no solution was found for her to have time to film the Lollybroch scenes. The fact that they had to do a rewrite of that part of the episode bears that out.

This has always rung hollow to me.  Her second would have been THRILLED to have a few days front and center.

Please don't speak for all women.  Jaime has never been "all that" to me.

THANK YOU.  I'm with you.  Jamie is definitely not all that.

I honestly don't have a problem with her and don't understand all the criticism. I can only imagine that book readers must have had a very different idea of her in their heads or something. That's kind of the problem with any adaptation - if the actor isn't what you pictured when you read the book it's hard to accept them as that character.

I found her acting to be wooden, uninspired, and bland at the very best.  It had nothing whatsoever to do with the book or preconceived ideas, thankyouverymuch.

Why is Brianna at Balriggan? Didnt she just go straight to Lallybroch?

Because they needed to show the story of Laioghere and Frank.  I honestly didn't mind it.  This was the first damn episode this season that I LOVED.

Sophie's finally, mostly, able to act in a way that doesn't make me want to turn off the TV, so that's helpful.  I'm happy for her (and selfishly, me).  I very much enjoyed the actors playing Roger and Bonnet.  They're both just incredible.

And maybe I'm a latent sociopath or something, but I didn't mind Bonnet's choice with the smallpox afflicted girl.  It's not like you can send people into quarantine on a boat and every cough, every sneeze, every breath, every dish you eat from, every use of the lav is deadly to everyone around you.

And, as an added bonus, I didn't have to look at Sam's wig!  Next episode's trailer looks wonderful, I can't wait!

I bet it's to foreshadow how Roger is treated.

They also needed some way to work in JQ's "on the table surgery" scene without an inguinal hernia repair they would have never shown.  :P

Has anyone else observed this season how absolutely horrible Sam Heughan's acting is?  It's so campy, especially the exaggerated facial expressions, that it's difficult to enjoy the show!

It's not just you.  He used to be very subtle and nuanced and GOOD.  I have no idea what happened to him, but he needs to unlearn it, stat!  The last time he was FANTASTIC was when he was the leaving Helwater episode.  All downhill from there.  I saw this thing where Sam spoke about the new writers in such a way that made me think he didn't care for their choices for Jamie.  I wonder if it's affecting his work.

  7. Well that was the best episode yet.  Stream of consciousness -- I liked very much how they handled the whole bear killer thing overall.  I've decided I can tolerate Sophie as long as she isn't speaking.  And I'm starting to love Rik Rankin a bit.  Jamie's wig didn't make me want to set it alight for the 2nd episode in a row, and I'm liking the fact that whoever's doing Clare's age makeup seems to be getting it done well.  I wish Ian was a bit more...Ian.  And I'm disappointed that Marsali and Fergus aren't as much of a set of characters as they've been in the books by this point.  (Was Marsali that pregnant when they first set out then?  I feel like she wasn't.)  Did NOT appreciate the surveying of the land with a pack mule, 3 horses, and a wagon.  FFS.  :P  I enjoyed the native segments, though I very much hope we get the scene w/ Jamie and the chief's daughters at some point.  All in all it was the first episode this season that I wanted to watch again, so I did!

Having been led by providence to Fraser's Ridge, Jamie, Claire and Young Ian begin to build a home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the 20th Century, Roger tries to reconnect with Brianna.

  9. Sophie is still soooo bad.  I can't for the life of me believe they couldn't have found an appropriate UK citizen who grew up in America and could slap on a damn wig.  Still, she's marginally better.  As was Jamie's wig.  Looking forward to tomorrow's episode, maybe they can finally slow down and enjoy the story some...

  10. Why would the Scots have weapons in America?  It's still a British territory, and they're still forbidden weapons by the king, no?  Agreed on them needing to age the heck up, quickly.  It's not believable.  Just use a bit of glue to add some wrinkles in the forehead, some crows feet, and color Jamie's beard growth with a bit of silver scattered through.  A white mascara wand would take care of both their hair without terrible wigs and call it good.

  11. I didn't like the episode.  There, I said it.  Sam and Catriona don't seem to have any chemistry anymore.  Sam's wigs are beyond terrible - so much so that every time he's on the screen I want to look away rather than become immersed in the episode.   The only good part was the last 3-4 minutes on the pole-barge.   That was some good Outlandering.

Also, I must shamefully admit that I felt for Steven Bonnett a little bit in the books, and I don't think that's going to change in the show unfortunately.  Actor's going to be a very pleasant surprise much like the man playing John Grey I suspect.

  12. Oh, Sansa will rule alright.  She will take Casterly Rock and claim it for the Starks in a final act of revenge.  Arya will become the Lady of the North.   Bran will become the Hermit King at the Vale.  Jon or Dany will die (probably Dany) and the remainder will be the sole remaining ruler stationed at King's Landing.  And the Starks will hold it all.

  13. I am extraordinarily happy about Billy Boyd!!  Also, I'm hoping they actually pronounce his last name.  A few of my Scottish folks have insisted that Forbes should be pronounced "For-bish" but that sounds so odd to my American ears.

I don't think he looks "Euroslim" whatever that is nor do I agree that he looks modern.  He looks like a man who makes his living with his body, but inside.  Printing presses are hard work.  I'm pretty sure that the kind of body that Sam had in the first season - all that bulked-up muscle - wasn't that common back them.  He got that body in a gym, not from working on a farm or as a groom.

It was definitely common.  At any rate, there is no requirement for agreement and so we will agree to disagree.  I think he looks waifish, gaunt, and not at all manly at this point in time.  Tall just isn't enough.

I'm actually glad that's a deleted scene because it kind of makes LJG look like an idiot.  Surely there was a less lame way to communicate his sadness over Jamie.  Isobel is probably thinking he's a loon.

Could not agree more.  This is awful.

I only read a few Alias comics so i did not know that.  I also just realized that the word Alias is just this spelling of Alisa with the a and the s swapped.

It was clearly named for the club Sterling was handing out cards for, IMHO.

  17. I felt like Sterling really meant he was trying to keep from getting killed/assbeat.  He was one guy, alone, against 3 with no reason to believe help would be there in time.  But he was clearly also a bit of a user living on Jess' powers and trying to find another investor to fleece.

I think the writers believe that gives them leeway to write her as an adult now. But, she isn't.

She is.  They already indicated this was about a year later and she's 18 now.  In the very first episode that was all about "First New Year's without Mom" thing.

A ten year show would be a first.

There have been lots of 10 year shows over the years...  Right off the top of my head SNL, Survivor, American Idol, M*A*S*H, Cheers, Real World, This Old House, 60 Minutes, ER, South Park, CSI, It's Always Sunny...  There has to be tons more...
