  1. I feel like I'm in opposite land tonight:

I fucking adore Ryan Kwanten (and Jason) and think he is hands down the most talented actor on the show.  Nelsan Ellis is right up there though.  And the lady that plays Lettie Mae.

I'm not a Sookie fan, but I liked that Sookie didn't have to hear people thinking horrible, horrible, nasty things about her at least once in her life.  This is a girl who could even hear how much her parents were afraid of her.  A little positive affirmation?  OK.

I am completely weirded out that so many people thought Lafayette was exclusively a bottom.  I can't say that I ever thought about it too much, but something about that concept just seems completely off to me.

    And in the non-opposite land:

I am not mad at Lafayette, but going down that path with James while he was technically still with Jess was quite out of character for him.  And then the self righteous stuff?  Yeah, I dunno.  All truetell, but again, just not quite...right...

And meanwhile, over in random observations world:

I just realized that Ginger is a Renfield.  I feel like she'll be the one that saves the day with an Uzi in the last 10 minutes for some reason.

Violet is SO going to turn Jason so she can command him, forever.  I have always felt like she was a skeevy rapist, so...shit.  Not good.

James knew when he was on the swing with Laf, that his relationship was donezo.  So did Laf.  They just got their order of operations wrong with regards to Jess.

I think the Yakuza will find the cure and get back in business.

  2. I liked the final shot being Arya sailing off - my reaction was "finally, we're going to move on from having various characters wander around Westeros and get the plot moving".

Except Arya's life in Braavos is actually deadly dull during her training.  Well, it's not, but it won't be good TV I don't think.

I think this finale was the weakest by far, and the excisement of many of the crucial scenes and their nuances intolerable.  I cannot stand that they have made Tyrion 'good', because he's not and never has been.  The closest thing this show has ever had to good post-Ned, was Jon Snow.  I fear that what we saw tonight is the beginning of the end for GoT, I recognize the problem and have seen it before with these show runners (and others).

  3. Also, now that Tyrion is traveling with Varys, it's possible our favorite eunuch might also be pushing the idea of working with Dany on the grounds the Lannister dynasty is completely rotten.

I thought Varys was off in search of wee Aegon who was spirited away? I don't remember him getting on the boat, but I recall him being very much involved in attempting to bring back Aegon.  I'm assuming because he's all out of options unless he wants Melisande for a queen, but I don't think he's into that as being good for the realm...

  4. Someone said they are shipping Missandei and Grey Worm.  So am I!! Can it even be possible?  I mean, even Dany asked if he is missing both the frank and the beans.  Castration means the loss of use of the testicles (not necessarily the removal of), which greatly limits the production of testosterone.  And decreased libido.  And forget about reproducing.  Aint happening.  So, can they be together “That Way?”

Yanno, no one in the show has ever used the word castration or eunuch.  Just a referral to 'being cut'.

If I was a slave holding bastard, and didn't care how many of the boy slaves died in childhood (and I think someone commented that most of the potential Unsullied didn't make it), I'd keep the useful to warriors bit and remove the useless to masters one.  Just sayin'.

  5. As for Arya, the text is below.  It appears to me she left him to die and thought he didn't deserve a merciful death.

Arya is the very queen of making up nonsense on the spot to justify doing what she wants to do anyway.  She's done it since episode one where she spouts off some nonsense to cover what she's really up to.  It's canonical behavior.

  6. Cleaning out a wound with a sterile solution and keeping the dressings fresh (and sterile!) while letting the immune system fight off the infection is about the best medicine they can hope for.

Raw honey has been used for time immemorial due to natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties.  Didn't get this choice on GRRM's part, it's not even that esoteric as far as knowledge goes.

  7. I'm going to miss Oberyn, I mean Pedro Pascal.  Frankly, I'm sorry, but if anyone deserves an Emmy, it's him.  Dinklage is good and all, but he's got SO much more to work with than Pascal does, and Pascal is easily neck and neck with him, from the 1st second he was on screen.  Stunning.

Really going to miss The Adventures of Arya and The Hound.

Side note:  I'm kind of ... happy that Nikolaj hasn't had his teeth Americanized, but he's probably going to have to post-Thrones.  I hope he doesn't do it now, because honestly, a badass warrior -should- have jacked up teeth.

  8. Juliette's seemed a bit lank too. Was there a stylist strike?

Rayna's was off the charts bad at some points.  Chunks of ... laying there...dead...beaver...hair.  It was awful.  I recall thinking I would fire whoever the hell was responsible, and then realizing that janitors don't have many options and that may not be fair.
