  1. After binge-watching this show, I'm very disappointed by season 4 and the series finale. For entertainment, I love the characters of Tom, Greg,  Kendall, Logan's brother. I enjoyed Shiv until she shived her brother at the last second, causing the most possible damage. Change your mind any other time ffs. She is the worst. Also, Roman having a last minute breakdown over how it should have been him is truly the most delusional.

  2. Jason Mraz was groovin'!

    Only dance I'm gonna rewatch.

Alfonso was very good and I know in time he's going to be perfect for this.

Julianne was as expected (beautiful and delivering a dancer's entrance) but thank goodness she is scripted and won't be competing with Carrie-Ann (and Tyra, ever again) for shrillest ditz.

I knew I recognized Kevin and it was from this video discussed on FB awhile back! My friend group determined that he was likely only  trying to date white women- thus the disappointment- and side-eyed the heck out of him.

Any Asian man will tell you that Asian (Western) girls often only date white guys and use the "you remind me of my brother" as the excuse/reason.

  4. Season 1 was a pleasant, fun surprise.

Season 2 was ok but starting to become overly contrived.

Season 3 totally unconvincing, predictable, stupid contrivances. As if anyone thought she wasn't going to end up working for Slyvie and that charade went on far too long. Alfie still has 0 character development so no reason to feel invested in him. He is a giant plot device.

Also the best friend seems to get so much air time it's like the show should be renamed for her. Or maybe it just seems that way because I don't believe or enjoy her character or the actress.

Was looking forward to the show's return but every episode is a chore.

This absolutely horrified me. And I won't lie. That whole segment had me in tears. Social media is a cancer on society.

It really is. One of many drawbacks is it's make it easier to receive all kinds of opinions, including hateful ones, like death wishes that are usually glib, but must be investigated. Like all public figures who can expect to possibly experience that or that already have, they investigate to see if it's a true threat, heighten security, and thankfully resume their wonderful lives, recognizing it as an aberration. They don't search for hateful (usually offhand) comments made by a vocal minority, and then go on a personal crusade, literally losing sleep, against them.

H&M highlighted the finding that it was only a "small number of accounts" that was spewing hatred towards them, but then why are they letting the vocal minority live in their heads (Meghan saying she hadn't been sleeping) and be the focus of their public lives? Their crusade is confusing or disingenuous as it seems the love from the majority and what they claim to have for each other is not enough to be the focus of their lives. Rather, Harry and Meghan seem like they would be happiest if they could police the entire internet, rather than just the Daily Mail, as they take personally negative comments they happen to come across or actively search for. Recall the scene when Meghan narrowed her eyes in distress and voiced her anger when scrolling through site comments/an editorial in bed. That's not healthy or level-headed. She's obsessing over her public image. You can't force anyone to like you nor should you care to. It's very...well, egotistical and sort of like how a tyrant's ego can only allow sycophants in their kingdom.

  6. Overall, I disliked how Harry and Meghan were using tweets to demonstrate how victimized they were. Every public figure knows there are no limits on how vile internet speech can be. It seemed to even undermine their case against the free press whom did turn on them but that's also par for the course. You can't always get positive press and there is a common "build you up to tear you down" pattern as well as a feeding frenzy that public figures are supposed to wait out. Of course tweets are going to provide the ugliest of what is potentially out there in people's minds. But using these tweets as the strongest examples to "prove" their victimhood case, makes them seem thin-skinned and delusional as if they believe they also deserve control over the Internet, which is the public domain of free speech. No other celebrity/public figure can control public opinion. They have a lot of glowing praise and ppl fawning over them, and in case we don't know, Beyonce is one of the most impressive of those. So why can't they bear extremely negative opinions, hatred, or even outright lies on them coexisting, as they do for every other public figure, especially the bigger star you are? As people whom live in public life know, you aren't supposed to be combing over the public's random's thoughts about you to assemble a case of how you are being unfairly characterized. You're supposed to thumb your nose at it and enjoy your wonderful life that most of us can only ever dream of and tough it out. Some might even mock it and not take it seriously because "you know you've made it when you have haters." Every PR person will say, lay low, wait until an opportunity to sway opinion comes, and you can get the public back on your side. They seem like they believe they are entitled to be above this.

Whether it's true or not, a lot of celebs will say, "I don't read my press, good or bad. Because if you believe the good, you have to believe the bad." It seems like H&M depend on public approval instead of just truly being fulfilled and happy within themselves with their predestined grand love.

I don't blame her either. He left her no choice. The irony of course is the series informs the viewers that he ghosted H&M and not the other way around as the media made it seem. Even after his foolishness came to light, she and Harry were still attempting to reach out. I wonder how much money the media have paid him over the years? Hope it was worth giving up a relationship with his daughter.

Suppose their version is the truth,  what loving daughter, as she presents herself as at that point, accepts their father texting them out of character and washes themselves of the relationship? Who moves on that quickly and accepts that? You don't move on when things seem awry with a loved one. You investigate and have a heart to heart, face to face.

Thomas was not the primary parent. I don’t think it’s ever been said who paid for Meghan to go to Northwestern, so I’m certainly not going to give him credit for that. He had a heart attack and couldn’t be bothered to tell his daughter which hospital he was at? She has nothing to be grateful to him for. Parents are supposed to raise their children. I don’t applaud people for doing what they’re supposed to be doing.

Yes, that’s the problem. He could’ve spoken with her directly. He chose to involve the media. He gets zero sympathy from me.

He said he was desperate to try to reach her because she was not taking his calls. Based on what they said about assuming his phone was compromised (perhaps when he was on a hospital bed) and then pronouncing him dead to her, this tracks.

  9. I struggle with Meghan because I initially liked her and I want to continue liking her but it's so hard to not agree with the reading of her as a cold-hearted social climber.

The way she seemed to drop the man she was seeing when she met Harry is messy but perfectly understandable. But the way she is estranged from her father and allows her new husband to pronounce him effectively dead makes no sense. If that were my father, whom lovingly accepted and supported me through my life, as she said he did, wild horses wouldn't keep me from hearing the truth from his mouth and patching up a misunderstanding/mistake. Moreover, my capacity for forgiveness would be vast, not one strike and you're dead to me. She mentioned cell phone possible interception or triangulation, well...after my wedding, I'd get on a plane and visit him.

Furthermore, her Daddy as she not too long ago publicly adoringly referred to him as, was pleading through media to be forgiven for his foibles and being misled, saying how much he misses and loves his daughter. He is clearly a victim of being a blue-collar sloppy guy who felt deeply insecure, embarrassed, and overwhelmed by his image and the reflection of it on his sophisticated daughter who was now marrying into ROYALTY. And paparazzi suddenly splashing his drunken overweight image everywhere should make it understandable how he pathetically posed for those staged photos of getting cleaned up and fitted for a suit, and learning about Britain. To banish him after that and shrug that she still can't understand his texts so he's dead to them, seems heartless. Add to that the wishy-washy explanation of not allowing her niece to attend her own wedding bc of optics, yet allowing A-list celebs she doesn't know like George Clooney and David Beckham, only furthers this  characterization of her.

There's actually a surprising amount of people who would. I've met plenty of shy people who genuinely open up more while performing in some way. I know shyness and introversion don't necessarily go hand-in-hand, but Charli could also be introverted, and there's a lot of introverted celebs who love performing.

Agree. Charli also is very young and she comes across as a girl who has spent most of her life on one thing and hasn't had much other life experience or education. Those people tend to be self-conscious about this and more in their shell when having to rely on their knowledge/personality. She only comes alive while dancing--where she is confident and where she can sort of become the alter ego of the character of a dance.

As for her continuing to put herself in the spotlight, well...we are all encouraged, motivated, pressured by $ucce$$ and would be crazy to turn down all the opportunities.

I speak from a bit of personal identification in having been shy before but thrusted myself into the spotlight under the safety net of a character/role  which helped me gain confidence overall as it was very successful and encouraging. And aging helped. Charli is still a teenager, which is very apparent off stage.

That said, was underwhelmed by their freestyle and their win. Enjoyed her redemption jive as her first one suffered from focusing mostly on the contemporary. It was the jive I expected from her before.

Shangela and Natasha aka Gleb were amazing and wish they could have somehow won or at least gotten 2nd. But I can be glad my all-time fave, Mark, got to dance his heart out and receive the respect I always felt Derek got but Mark deserved (also/more?).

And you prove our point about Charli when you say she was focused on learning the technique and perfecting the technique.  That's because she was already a highly trained dancer and so had the luxury of being able to focus on technique rather than needing all of her time to just learn the basic dance.  She could pick up the steps easily and learn the choreography quickly and then could spend the bulk of her time *perfecting* instead of learning.  Something none of the other contestants could do.

This rings true for every single ringer they've had and none (except maybe the OG Nicole Scherzinger) ever won me over fully because I never wanted to rewatch their dances and never truly loved watching them. Except Charli post-foxtrot. After that I had to admit I floved that! It helps Charli is also very photogenic with full costume. She has a look I personally love to watch if employed properly and she definitely does.

It also helps of course that she is paired with my favorite pro and I love his choreography and vision for a dance. Meryl, for example, I was ringer biased against from the beginning and never lost it bc I truly did not enjoy watching her from a personal taste pov and have always found Maks ill-tempered and his choreo uninspired and performance vision underwhelming.

  12. Charli and Mark's Paso was outstanding! He even brought out some Spanish guitar to start. I was so happy with every second. I love how Mark can enjoy not having to dance down or,  more importantly, choreograph down. He's never looked like he's having more fun out there or afterwards ever looked so proud. At least not in a long time. Mark left after it seemed he wasn't getting the appreciation (I felt, anyway) he and his work deserved. So glad for him to get that with Charli.

That said, I'd be most happy for Shangela. I'm sad she landed in the bottom 2. Hope they pull through with the votes. Thank you, Gaga!

Also, with dear Len going, I hope Derek can maintain some judging standards of prioritizing good technique and less "mucking about." I enjoy my mucking about and gimmicks but there needs to be a balance. The worse seasons were with 3 shrieking Paula Abdul-type judges when Julianne was there.

  13. Rewatching Charli's professional-level salsa and I have to say the comments about her being unexpressive or like a robot confound me. The dance floor is where she has ALL the charisma, all the expressiveness, much more than some other ringers we've had. She's incredibly passionate and confident with as much showmanship as any pro on the show. It's when she's not dancing she's like a robot on low battery.

Come on.  Artem and Carrie Ann were in a relationship.  Should we tell Carrie Ann she can't judge either?

I wouldn't have a problem with this, tbh. She's one of the more self-indulgent talking heads that encourages Tyra to continue her nonsense, interrupting Len et al.

  15. Charli having to compliment Gabby and pretend it was anywhere near close was amusing and uncomfortable.  No one competing is near her pro level--nor should they be. I am happy just to see her dance.

I hope the finals are Shangela and Trevor, and anyone else I'm cool with watching,  just wouldn't be thrilled if s/he won. Oh and I was rooting for Wayne also but he's really suffered after getting sick and putting a lot of stress on his bad knee(s). It's influenced my enjoyment and anticipation of his performances.

  16. I'm a few minutes in and Dominic West is already more distracting and unconvincing than I feared.

ETA: OK he is attempting to do Charles' cadence and it is a decent effort. Between this and the verité  of Diana's casting, I might be able to suspend disbelief enough but it will never compare to the gravitas and eerie verisimilitude last season brought.

  17. I used to think y'all were exaggerating or "Give it a rest,  already" but Tyra is truly like an aggravating fly I can't swat away. She really thinks we are here for her claptrap instead of judges' fleeting critiques.

I love the 90s and this theme was so much fun! Can't believe I was seeing Kid n Play on DwtS!

I'm shaking my head at Drek saying he "likes more punch", then gives her a 10.

Omg at this Derek typo 🤭

I like Derek a lot more now since becoming a judge. As a pro I was sick of him and would have loved calling him "Drek."

I've given in to the Charli inevitability. Her foxtrot also impressed the heck out of me. I am enjoying just seeing them dance and hope they get finals, but don't win. And an Emmy win for Mark would be awesome!

Vinnie is an OK personality but should have gone 3 episodes ago. I hate watching them. I find their choreo, themes, sets, makeup, and wardrobe lame too. I'm not sure about Koko yet.

I hope the next 2 eliminated are Vinnie and Daniel.

  19. I can't say I love this show because I feel like shit watching it, but it's definitely well made and "must see tv" for me. I feel like I need therapy after each episode b/c it brings up so much of my shit. I can barely stomach post-show coverage.

I like this tweet on the show.

  20. Thank you, Hair department! Mark sans manbun brings back all his sexy leading man looks, which also gave him and Charli that convincing chemistry they lacked in some dances.

Charli's contemporary and foxtrot were both amazing. I would be lying if I didn't look forward to them, but I know I'd not care about her if she wasn't paired with Mark.

Wish Vinnie had gone instead of Jessie. The kids on social media said they planned on voting for anyone but her or some kind of strategy. I find that pretty mean given she's never been the worst and has been great with 0 dance experience, but seems to receive the most online criticism.

  21. There's another angle to this I just realized could explain Arnold's absence: Joseph doesn't want him there. He did say he wants to prove himself on his own and "I don't want to ask for help."

It'd be natural for him to go through life driven with a bit of a chip on his shoulder to prove his "worthiness," especially every time there's a family gathering or spotlight on him. He said "I was actually the first to want to go into acting." But Patrick Schwarzenegger has already broken through and had some good roles (like The Staircase)--but, unlike what Joe wants, Patrick surely used his father's connections.

  22. I think it's just really disingenuous when someone who is obviously extremely confident pretends not to be. You don't have major self-esteem issues and insecurity "being sexy," like she claimed to have if you're throwing yourself into the public eye/show business where your persona is largely dependent on your looks, have Broncos Cheerleader on your resume, and, sign up for The Bachelor and Bachelorette.

That's why her "jokes" are off, too; they seem like humble brags or fishing for compliments. She claimed imposter syndrome and said high scores are needed to fix that when she already has always been tied near the top.
