  1. I need to vent this somewhere. So here goes. I had a brief physical relationship with a married coworker. The guy is definitely a player, but he is very subtle about it. Anyway, I started hanging out with him outside of work. And then one night something happened and before I knew it he was in my apartment and being very aggressive. It was like he was a completely different person from the nice, charismatic guy that I knew. The whole thing was very stupid of me, and my only excuse is that I was going through an extremely difficult time and was also lonely. I think this guy knew that. I was dumb enough to let him in my apartment several times, and the last time he pretty much forced me to perform oral sex on him. Nothing has happened since then although he has been trying to talk me into something again. I finally had to tell him not to ask me ever again. I think there must be something wrong with me because I have never been so attracted to someone, and at the same time, I know he's a very bad person. At any rate, I've been doing pretty well keeping my distance. Scary, weird situation.
  2. Thanks walnutqueen. And I'm sorry your mum is sick too. My mom was in hospice for 4 days, and even though the hospice staff were incredible, it was still the most painful thing I've ever been through. Wishing you peace in this difficult time.
  3. I love this show but it's kind of painful for me to watch it now. My mom and I used to watch the episodes and then talk about them on the phone. She passed away about a month ago after battling pancreatic cancer. I have to imagine her sitting next to me on the couch, watching along with me.
  4. I could've sworn Slash from Guns n Roses was on Remote Control at least once. I remember him answering "goat cart" to a question instead of go cart and everyone thought it was hilarious. Now I can't see him without thinking "goat cart". But I can't find the episode. I watched the After the Episode with Lena Dunham because I was curious about her take on Adam and Jessa's fight. She said something along the lines of "they're taking their relationship to the next level." Umm... would that be the violence level?
  5. Got some terrible and tragic news last week about my mom's health condition. I've told a few people about it, and I'm flooded with awe at how wonderful people are being. People sharing their own stories with me, offering their words of wisdom and comfort. Asking to help in any way they can, from cooking meals for us to being willing to step on the next flight out to help care for her. For all the bad stuff that has happened, there are still some shining souls out there, and I'm incredibly grateful for them.
  6. Well, a few episodes back, Jessa did say to Adam they couldn't get together because they'd destroy each other. Now she just needs to fulfill the other part of that prophecy and end up pregnant in Mexico. I loved Shosh and boss guy dancing together too. So cute, and she looked so happy. Hannah seemed to me to be showing some signs of growth at the end. That she was willing to forgive Adam and Jessa and reconcile with Tally. That she is starting to work on herself with the exercise and writing. I think those are all signs of positive growth.
  7. Dick Button was tv gold at the end of his commentating career. I still remember how much he detested the fan spiral (so do I). During one skater's performance I remember him huffing "now that's just ugly". I thought he was going to throw down the mic and walk offstage.
  8. I think the only part we really saw was the mons pubis. She didn't have her legs open wide enough to see all the other hidden bits immediately external to the vagina. If we want to get really technical about it. :/
  9. Ooh, me too! He looks like he's a good kisser too.
  10. The play was an interesting concept, but I was wondering, do the actors loop their lines? Otherwise, I think you'd miss a lot. I watched the "After the Episode" bit and was surprised that Lena was so blasé about the bush part - yeah, Hannah wants to do this, and Fran doesn't like it so it shows they're incompatible. Huh? With that kind of behavior Hannah would be incompatible with just about everyone on the planet. Does Lena really think this is ok behavior (outside of the acting/porn industry)? I thought the way that the show chose to reveal Adam and Jessa's relationship to Hannah was very creative. I loved the preview for next week with Adam's baby niece in the beanie cap (just like her dad's, in miniature). And I loved Elijah taking all the little bathroom lotions. The small details in this show are fantastic.
  11. I'm not sure exactly what Lena wanted us to see from this... that Charlie's downfall helped propel Marnie to make the wise, mature decision of cutting Desi out of her life? I am also conflicted about this episode, but the disconnect for me was in Marnie's experience of her night out with Charlie, someone who clearly was in dire straits. She supposedly was in love with this man at some point, and yet she was unable to see any of the clues that all of us saw that said, hey, this guy's in trouble. No, she was too wrapped up in the fantasy, the joy ride, her own little bubble to see that here was someone who needed help. Then at the end when she found his needle, she was angry, presumably because he just burst her fantasy bubble. No concern expressed, and she just left him there. And then went home to Desi and cut him out of her life with no regard either. Starting to wonder if these "girls" have any shred of humanity whatsoever.
  12. Except for Hannah. She mostly looks bored. Actually, this is kinda what I liked about the Adam and Jessa sex scene - they were actually having fun with the role play.
  13. I've been wondering about this too. I mean, ok, Hannah dresses like she lives in the 70's, but the show doesn't take place in the sexually free 70's. I know she at least used condoms with Adam (I remember him talking about taking forever to nut with her), and I remember Marnie using one with her hookup with Elijah. I think it was pretty well determined that Hannah got HPV from Elijah. Maybe the show should have a disclaimer... do not attempt these stunts at home (or at least, without a condom).
  14. I loved the whole storyline of Shoshanna, and the end scene was very poignant. I think I've had nightmares like that. Adam and Jessa seem right together. Much better match than Adam and Hannah, IMO. Gotta admire Hannah/Lena for being so comfortable with her body, but I was wondering who the heck takes off their underwear and sleeps in a bra?
  15. I work in IT and see this kind of stuff all the time. Don't feel like you're being singled out. I'm willing to bet she treats everyone that way. I really don't understand this arrogance of so many IT people but I think it was propagated by people like Steve Jobs, and now there is this rampant disgusting belief that if you are smart or know about computers it gives you freedom to be an asshole. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now, but I'm sorry this happened to you, and I agree with magicdog that you should report this woman.
  16. I really liked the kissing scene with Dill and Elijah. I wish they could've just ended it there and drawn out the romance at least a little longer. Dill's apartment is gorgeous - just once in my life I'd like to step inside a place like that. Desi freaking out over not being able to remove his t-shirt was hilarious. I feel like all these pairings in the show are good ones, even if the people involved are just getting what they deserve. I'm rooting for Shoshanna and the Japanese guy, and was rooting for Dill and Elijah up until the sex scene (I have a bad feeling Dill is going to turn out to have a fatal flaw). Once again, I loved the final song. I wonder who picks the music for this show. Also, why does Hannah always have to dress like someone's frumpy grandma? I don't get it.
  17. Just watched this on HBO. I wasn't going to watch it because I don't really like stuff aimed at teenagers but the scene with the boy crawling away from his mom saying her non-stop stream of words was killing him was just too funny. It was sweet and funny at the beginning but by the end I was bawling my head off. Really great movie.
  18. I work with someone who was pulled over by this guy in San Diego: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Cara_Knott He invited her into his police car while he wrote out the ticket. She said nothing happened except that he asked her if she liked men in uniform. Still, moral of that story - never get into a car with a stranger, even a cop.
  19. My mom, who has been sick with an undiagnosed illness for over a year, had a good day on Sunday and kicked my butt in a game of Scrabble.
  20. Ha! I was just logging in to post the same thing. I had the exact same thought. I also wondered if the "go get my wallet after my sex romp" scene was inspired by the movie "Sideways". Same thing happened in it. Did anyone else catch the bit when Tad was crying, and he mentioned the hookup's "big dog", and then when we see it it's really a tiny little thing?
  21. I really liked the end song too, never heard it before. It was kinda perfect.
  22. My favorite line was Ray's about the awkward non-conversation between Fran and Adam: "Try speaking in actual sentences. You sound like you're in an ee cummings poem." Also liked Marnie's "French" pronunciation of Bebe. So pretentious. I also don't mind Adam and Jessa. They're both a couple of quirky oddballs, and I like it when people like that get together. Could be fun...
  23. A Manual for Cleaning Women by Lucia Berlin. It is amazingly good. She was an incredible lady, unfortunately largely unrecognized in her lifetime: http://luciaberlin.com/
  24. I got embarrassed on behalf of someone else the other day. It was a customer service rep. He was checking my address over the phone, reading off the street, city, etc. When he got to the state (NM) he hesitated and then said "Northern Minnesota"? When I said "New Mexico" he got very embarrassed and then started laughing. I said, well, it's ok, no one knows where New Mexico is. He then said, "but I'm in Arizona"!
  25. I've had 3 very good managers. They all came from the rank and file and hadn't forgotten what that was like. Most of all, they respected my abilities and didn't treat me like a small child. All the others, though, can take a flying leap.
