  1. That's a very literal follow up to the cynical point I was making. I have noted you as "reasonable webmaster."
  2. Watching the show and reading this book.. this is my take on Janelle/Kody. I think Meri/Kody was a very normal teenage fling that turned sour as a marriage. Kody was starved for rational discussion and turned to Janelle. Kody/Janelle formed a legit relationship built on trust and respect. That threatened Meri, they appeased her by hiding their relationship. I think it's always been very romantic and perhaps even the most passionate. Kody did work very hard to get Janelle to return to the family after she briefly lived separately. Christine feels like a place filler after all that drama and Robyn is the substitute womb. I don't see any honest love in those marriages.
  3. I'm sure the $2.5M breaks down this way: $1.8M for mortgages $100K for a web designer/host $100K for jewelry artist to redesign inventory $500K for existing debt
  4. It would be nice if Kody has a moment of self awareness when he see his scene demanding a higher quality product from a contractor to his nerve to show up empty handed hoping to be handed money from investors. It's just stunning. I cringed at Janelle/Kody tutting the kids off to bed on the anniversary date.
  5. What kind of idiot starts a meeting with :"we have this business that's costing us a lot of money?" Kody to english: We'd like to fail on a larger scale. Also, season 1 they begged us for houses, they got houses. Are they now begging us to buy the jewelry and the house in Lehi? I think Kody's requirement to marry Robyn was she produce children. It tracks with how she passive aggressively weaponized her womb. I dislike these people.
  6. PPD seems to be a sub-theme. The girl with twins had a 'fill the bathtub' look about her.
  7. Her parents didn't seem to be calling her to come home. The aunt didn't seem to encourage her to go home. There's something else there beyond lazy Derek.
  8. Jobs are great when you have somewhere to live. How would Jordan get to a job? Who would babysit? What kind of confidence would she have to leave her baby, what if Derek is kicked out while she is working? They seemed to be using phones on wifi, wasn't clear if they had service. The laptop didn't appear until Tracys house and never again, so my guess it was borrowed. Even if Jordan overcomes those issues and gets a job - what exactly would she earn? 7.25 for 40 hours is $290 gross. Probably $200 net. So she could earn $800/month with heroic efforts. An amount that could not get them housing or food. She wasn't naive about the only option being a shelter, she was right. With their earning potential they would be on the streets forever. Go ahead and do the minuses: Subtract $144 for a bus pass in Maryland - $656 left Diapers for one month (4/day) - $21 - $646 Food for two (ramen all day) - $120 - $526 $526 left for shelter, electricity, soap, laundry. What happens when Evie starts eating solids? Or gets a horrific rash because diapers aren't changed frequently enough? Or Jordan is $10 shoe for a bus pass and gets fired? Poverty/homelessness are complicated issues that are not cured by getting a job. A job is a start but there are many reasons people remain poor. Unplanned pregnancy is a huge reason.
  9. So, we start a kick starter for this girl to go to college? Just send her money? What's the protocol for getting rid of all these bad feelings after watching Jordan's story?
  10. Yup, that was the explanation: Shawn's mother's house was closer to his job. From Aleeah's parent's house the commute would have been 45 mins. A nagging thought about these two: I wonder if the communication skills came from group counseling in juvie. Kudos if it did, thats some genuine rehabilitation, but I did wonder if they were failing upwards.
  11. I was annoyed that Dell couldn't come by during the day without a supervisor. Let him see his daughter before he goes to work. Maybe he could make some bottles or do some laundry and help Jazmin get ahead of the curve. I still think it was fake as can be and Mom is MIA without the cameras.
  12. I get the sense that Mom put on a huge show for MTV. She sure had her hair done, face on, and mercedes minivan. Seems like Mom felt superior to Dell too, she sure delighted in telling him to leave. Honestly her first mistake as a mother was the spelling Jazmin.
