Episode Elimination Game

FA, for me, season 7 had some grotesquely gruesome and ridiculous, unsub-heavy stories, Proof being the worst, IMO. It also had Reid being seriously marginalized and ridiculed for the first time (the writing was seriously on the wall), and, at least for the first half of 7, he had that awful haircut with the shaved sides. Erk. Again, this is why I hate it, not implying you don't have reasons to love it. What are they, BTW?

Season 9 had the haircut with the shaved sides. Season 7 had his hair clipped short up the back, but it was not shaved. And considering I DESPISE his long hair, his short hair is very attractive. Season 7 also had plenty of great Reid moments. I liked season 7, because there are more episodes I love than season five. I could watch True Genius, Unknown Subject, Heathridge Manor, The Company, Painless all the time, and plenty of other episodes I would rather watch any day of the week over season five.

In It Takes A Village and Proof, it was most definitely shaved on the sides. I know that season 9 also had the same awful cut, even more extreme because of the forelock that was whipped with an eggbeater.

I'll grant you your short hair preference, I liked the short cut in season 6. And True Genius was interesting, Heathridge Manor was a lot of fun, but for me, the others weren't good, especially Unknown Subject, which, if it hadn't been for Prentiss's side plot, would have totally failed. As was said before, the 2 part season end was abysmal, and insulting in its diss of Reid.

Heh---I'm such an oddball here! I really like S7 and think it's the best of the show's post-S4 seasons---and, yes, that includes S5 :)  I hate S8 and actually think it's the show's very worst season other than maybe S9. I actually LIKED Seaver (lord knows why!) and always preferred her to JJ....even Original JJ, who most seemed to love a lot more than I ever did. I adore Reid and have always considered him my very favorite character, but my opinion of a given episode/season is contingent on more than just the amount and quality of Reid (or lack thereof). I hate Reid's hair when it's longer and wild. I care way more than most about the cases and profiling and think they tend to be far better done (at least when the show was at its best!) than the characterizations ever were. I should probably show myself the door, but a diversity of opinion makes fandom and life in general interesting...right?! Right :)

Darn. I was weighing all the pros and cons of S8 v S10 and I somehow lost the whole thing. It's probably better, for all of you, anyway.

Loved and hated things about both seasons. Ultimately I guess I loved more in S8, although I haaaaaatttee Zugzwang and the Maeve arc. And I'd better never hear the song "Infinity Street" again.

It's very close, but I'm going with S10.

It's the season with the integer after 7 and the integer before 9.

It's the season where Reid's heart was cruelly blown to the sky.

It's the season where John Curtis took the fore, only to find out his clues were a bore.

It's the season that started on September 26, 2012 and ended on May 22, 2013, 24 episodes later.

It's also the last season (to date) to have a two hour finale.

It's the season where Alex Blake made her debut, one she was all over...before the rest of the show took over from her.

It's the first season where Joe Mantegna directed for the first time, relaying the story of a fallen friend (R.I.P. Meschach. :( ).

It's the season that featured some of the most ridiculous “shock value” cases I've seen, from the Frankenstein impersonator to the one who used male bodies as fertiliser to the guy who used blood to paint to the two boys who had no money but somehow could afford weapons to abduct a bus and rent a barn to recreate a video game.

It's the season where the only bright spot for me is one where everyone else outvotes me (“Perennials”).

It's the season where they tried *way* too hard (especially in “Broken”).

It's also a season where I felt it had some promise towards the end, though it was never realized.

Is that clear enough for you?

:p

S8 is history, and we're own to our final five!

Season 1
Season 2
Season 3
Season 4
Season 5

My vote: Season 5 (Once S5 is gone, the true torture begins for me...how can you all make me choose among S1-S4, all of which I love? I'm profiling all of you as sadistic...oh, right, I'm the one who started this game in the first place :)

Tough one. Love them all. I guess if I had to pick, it'd be S3...I never liked the Strauss storyline (even if she exhibited quite a bit of character development), it sucked seeing Gideon go (although Rossi has turned out to be a much better fit within the team), and though it had a lot of great cases, other seasons had more of them I think (although “Seven Seconds” is always a favourite).

So...S3.
