Given that pretty much the entire point of the episode (beyond injuring various relationships) was to give Cordelia a scar similar to the one Charisma Carpenter has from when this exact injury happened to her as a child, apparently it is survivable, as Ms. Carpenter's Charisma-tic presence in the cast proves. I don't really see why that's anything we need deal with, since we've already seen Cordelia's midsection (she wears a belly-baring dance outfit in multiple scenes during Witch) and the scar was clearly not an issue among fandom, but sometimes actors need to flex, or something.
