UYI March 26, 2018 Share March 26, 2018 And yes, I realize using that line is somewhat harsh, given that's exactly what Kim Walker (Heather Chandler) died from in 2001. Since the new TV series has a forum, I figured the movie it was based on should have one, too. So dark, but SO funny! And so many memorable lines! 1 Link to comment
methodwriter85 March 27, 2018 Share March 27, 2018 I feel bad for Kim Walker. I'm now exactly the age she was when she died (32) and I still feel like I have a lot more left to do and accomplish. In Kim's case, she probably could have done something with the cult status that the film has had. I remember the movie having a big surge of nostalgia back in the early 2000's when I was in high school. Winona Ryder always said she wanted to do a sequel where Veronica is in politics, and honestly, given the circus that politics have devolved into, I could totally see the tone of this movie working within that world. It's always been said that you could not do a revival version of Heathers because of the teen gun violence, and man did the new reboot prove that right. 1 Link to comment
UYI March 28, 2018 Author Share March 28, 2018 (edited) This oral history article from 2014 about the making of the movie is great. Winona's passion for the movie, everyone trying to tip-toe around what they think of Shannen Doherty until the actress who played Martha Dumptruck speaks up (admittedly harsher in hindsight, given her breast cancer battle--I get the feeling she's grown up a LOT in the last decade or so), how it only got big after it was rerun on cable TV--just a very fun read. http://ew.com/article/2014/04/04/heathers-oral-history/ Edited March 28, 2018 by UYI 1 Link to comment
Dee March 28, 2018 Share March 28, 2018 I wish the film had stuck with the original ending. 1 Link to comment
SlovakPrincess March 31, 2018 Share March 31, 2018 Poor Kim Walker. That is really sad. She was so talented - even though Heather Chandler only survives about a fourth of the movie, she was the most memorable parts of it for me. As nasty as Heather Chandler was, I always kind of wondered what made her tick. The scene where she spits water angrily into the mirror always stood out to me, like maybe she was so hateful because she felt as trapped in her role as everyone else, pressured into giving a bj to the frat guy. Not that that makes her likable or her treatment of her classmates excusable, but that scene always struck me as one of the more important ones in the film. Even the queen bee got bullied by someone else, even she couldn't enjoy her popularity. 2 Link to comment
methodwriter85 April 1, 2018 Share April 1, 2018 (edited) I always thought the reason why she goes so hard on Veronica is her basically saying, "What makes you so goddamned special that you don't have to play nice with the frat boys? I just whored myself out to these guys and you are damn well going to do it, too!" And yeah, being the queen of Westerburg High wasn't enough for Heather. She clearly was going to do anything to be considered "cool" by the Remington University crowd which means she had to be pretty bored by her prom queen status at this point. Something I never realized until more recent viewings- Kurt totally has a crush on Veronica but he doesn't know how to approach her right. It was subtle, but I realized it was there, Edited April 1, 2018 by methodwriter85 2 Link to comment
