I did really did love this almost impossible emergency which I assume was not based on a real event:

Man is shot through the heart by a bullet after he shoots at a tree because

  • the tree was diseased and he wanted to destroy it by wrapping explosives around the tree and setting them off with a rifle shot
  • but there was a single bullet embedded in the tree, which became the fatal shrapnel when it “ricocheted” into his heart about 20 ft. away
  • a bullet that had missed him and become embedded in the tree year(s) ago when his battered wife finally attempted to defend herself
  • right before he killed her and hung her from the tree
  • and he had then told 9-1-1 and first responders she had committed suicide by hanging herself
  • and he was never convicted despite marks on her wrists indicating she had been recently bound

And I do love John Lennon’s lyrics that played in this episode:

  Quote

Instant Karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you're gonna be dead
What in the world you thinking of
Laughing in the face of love
What on earth you tryin' to do
It's up to you, yeah you

This is one of my favorite episodes. I watch it on rerun every time it comes on. I love seeing people get what they deserve.

The abusive husband does end up being murdered by his wife? That was great.

The best was the man who killed a lion being killed by another lion at the zoo  and the tanning guy dying of heat like he almost did to his dog.  Both were awesome. I love Athena assuring the zoo the lion won't be put down because everyone will be on his side.

I saw this story on the news this morning, and it made me think of this episode.  Was there ever a follow-up to Bobby and his miracle blood?  If not, I wish they had brought it into an episode now and then.

James Harrison, the man with the 'golden arm', has passed away: https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c5y4xqe60gyo
