ElectricBoogaloo October 2, 2017 Share October 2, 2017 Quote The gloves are off and the rivalry continues as Bourdain and his long time friend, three-Michelin-starred chef Eric Ripert, embark on a ski-and-cheese-filled journey through the French Alps - home advantage Ripert? Bourdain gets a glimpse into Ripert's early life while tending a little too closely to cows, and overindulging in delicious cheese dishes. The pair team up to prepare a French meal, featuring caviar and steak au poivre, with the help of Ripert's mentor Maurice Guillouet. Bourdain and Ripert also venture across the Italian border to La Maison Rose and surrender to Bourdain's love of pasta with gnocchi, ravioli, and polenta. Link to comment

wheresmypizza October 10, 2017 Share October 10, 2017 Biakbiak, I think this is why this was my fav episode ever. I love how their relationship has evolved. And at their age? To drink and eat nothing but cheese all day and then ski like pros?? Well, played, friends. Come back to my TV anytime. 1 Link to comment
Snarklepuss October 10, 2017 Share October 10, 2017 (edited) I know, I love them together. Every time Tony has Eric on the show I find myself wishing they'd appear on more episodes together. I was surprised that Eric is so much younger than Tony. He's only 52 while Tony is 61. I love Eric but I have to admit I thought he was at least 55. I loved the scene in the kitchen at Le Bernardin. I actually got a tour of that kitchen with Eric 3 years ago after I had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Long story, it was a gift from one of my husband's clients, and one I'll NEVER forget! ElectricBoogaloo October 23, 2017 Author Share October 23, 2017 I love that these two represent friendship goals. It helps that Ripert is so easygoing and that Bourdain has mellowed out in his old age. I love that Ripert made him trek across all that snow. If not for all the jiu jitsu training, I don't think Bourdain would have made it! 2 Link to comment
luv2lurk September 16, 2018 Share September 16, 2018 I have been waiting for CNN to re-air this episode. Glad they finally did. It is such as fun episode. Totally ignored how they were joking about killing each other, and just went with the humour. Ironic what happened a few months later. Link to comment

I've watched very few of these episodes, but I caught that one some time ago, well before he died. It was lovely. Link to comment
