ElectricBoogaloo September 23, 2017 Share September 23, 2017 Quote Ali is blindsided when Leslie goes public with the details of their relationship. Sarah is ignited by a new connection with her daughter's former teacher, Lila. Josh unexpectedly encounters an ex. Shelly takes up improv. Ali joins Maura on her trip to Israel and their journey gets off to a bumpy start. Link to comment
wendyg September 25, 2017 Share September 25, 2017 For anyone who's curious about such details, The New Yorker cover dates the issue to January 30, 2017. It had two poems in it (by Mary Jo Bang and Simon Armitage), and pieces on an artist using the internet in disruptive ways, nuclear winter and climate change, and technology allowing movie viewers to create alternate endings. Probably just the issue that was to hand. :) 1 Link to comment
possibilities October 1, 2017 Share October 1, 2017 That poem was terrible, and I don't just mean how it affected Ali; I mean it was a shitty bit of writing and it would never be in the New Yorker. 2 Link to comment
himela October 4, 2017 Share October 4, 2017 I cried in the end of the episode when the police were searching Maura. What world are we living in? People should not be humiliated in public like that! Link to comment
wendyg October 4, 2017 Share October 4, 2017 A "groin anomaly" can show up for other reasons than being trans (see also SPINAL TAP and the foil-wrapped cucumber...), but the patdown search is pretty standard no matter who you are. They happen because either a) you've had something anomalous show up in the scanner; b) you've opted out of the scanner (still a valid choice); or c) you've been randomly picked. It is your choice whether to have them in public or private. Personally, I like to have witnesses and would always opt for public. You can say the system is humiliating - but then it is that for everyone, not just trans people, although obviously there are more sensitive issues in their case. 1 Link to comment
millennium October 5, 2017 Share October 5, 2017 The Christ imagery at the end was entirely out of place and grotesque. This show takes itself much too seriously. On the plus side, my hatred of the Pfefferman clan remains as strong as ever. 5 Link to comment
