I think Trinity said that in a talking head so she could be talking about anyone or anything.  I highly doubt she was speaking of the candle.  Which brings me to my next point, the heavy handed editing has become blatenly obvious lately.  It really takes away from the narrative of the show when the tom foolerly is present.
