David T. Cole February 19, 2014 Share February 19, 2014 One of the things I really like about Face Off is that I've yet to feel like the producers are calling the eliminations rather than the judges. Things seem to really be based on merit and Matt was the right call this week. 1 Link to comment
David T. Cole February 20, 2014 Author Share February 20, 2014 I love it when there's a big disparity between creations. Like the green viking paint job that looked like Timmy's First Midway versus the awesome mud morlocks or whatever they were. It is always creatures? Do they ever do like "guy who fell in a vat of toxic goo" challenge? Link to comment
Portia February 20, 2014 Share February 20, 2014 (edited) It's not always creatures. I remember one challenge involving age makeup--each contestant worked on a set of triplet models wifh the goal of representing a character at 3 different ages. If they've done a toxic goo challenge, I haven't seen it. That would be awesome, by the way. I know the creatures make for fun viewing, but I wish they'd toss in more commonplace challenges from time to time. My guess is that the artists enter the field wanting to do creatures but find themselves doing a lot of beauty, injury/illness,and aging makeups in to pay the bills. Monty February 21, 2014 Share February 21, 2014 My favorite thing about Face Off is that the competitors help each other out all the time. They don't even mention it a lot of the time, but if there's trouble opening a mold (which happens roughly once an episode, usually right before a commercial break), someone is always right there to lend a hand. I like shows where everyone seems to like each other at least a little. I also enjoy the occasional crazy piece, which is usually contributed by someone who comes out of the world of decorating haunted houses, rather than movie makeup. I'm thinking particularly of Eric F. and Kris's ridiculous two-headed giant from a few seasons back. Link to comment
