This pisses me off so hard. It is female centric. Has a central lesbian character. Looks to have at least 3 actors of color in it in major roles. It looks good and is one of maybe two CBS shows I would actually watch and you have pay extra for it. Man, I hate CBS.

You don’t need the prior show.  There are a few characters from TGW, but you would be just fine with no prior knowledge.  The show has a hefty liberal bias, so if you are fine with that, the show is good.  
S1 decent: S2 eh: S3-4 decent; S5 eh.
