I'm surprised that this movie didn't have a topic already. I know the box office was disappointing, but did no one here go see it?

If there was a topic and I missed it, sorry about that. I went through the pages and didn't find it.

I saw it yesterday afternoon, and thought it was alright. It ranks third out of all three movies, which was disappointing because I thought the book was very very good.

Tom Hanks was fine, and I thought Felicity Jones was good. The way the movie was structured with flashbacks and visions was hard to understand sometimes, and I read the book. I know my sister and cousin were confused at times with what was happening because they hadn't read the book.

Also I wish they had gone with the ending of the book, which was 1000% more interesting and impactful then what we got here.

Spoiler

The forced sterilization of half the planet, to save humanity, is much more fascinating and thought provoking. You could sympathize with Sienna a little more in the book. Here they were just going to straight up kill millions of people.

Also the love interest angle with Professor Langdon should have not been there in any way, shape or form. Just NO!

Any one else see this movie?

I went with three others who had read the book and they all came out pretty ticked off because of the changes from book to movie.

I don't read much Dan Brown but I wasn't all that impressed with the movie itself. It was okay but when they told me about the changes, I agreed with them about the book ending seeming to be a lot better than what they did in the movie.

Yes, someone else watched this, lol!!!

I think they were going for a more tropey ending with the movie like an action flick. But that's not what Dan Brown books are to me.

There more thriller lite, detective stories, with lots of running. Of course his books are some hundred pages long, and the movie is only 2 hrs but I also found the actual Dante puzzles very rushed and hard to understand. Maybe they were hoping for more movies in the future and didn't feel like the book ending would mesh with future plans? Although the box office would suggest that there probably won't be more movies.

Spoiler

The ending really is important for this story. I was actually really thinking about what I would do if something like this was real. That's why I was excited for the movie because I wanted to see how they would portray it on screen.

I think his books would work better as mini-series, where the puzzles can be laid out in a more understanding way so that people who don't know anything about Dante for example would still be informed of what's happening.

Also I haven't watched Angels&Demons again but weren't Langdon and Vittoria a thing? No mention of her in this movie at all. Now that I'm thinking about it, I don't even know what the timeline for these movies are. They are connected because people make reference to his previous adventures.

I was pretty pissed at the ending. It, along with the overpopulation idea, was the pest part of the book. The whole thing messed with my mind, made me question my morals. My brain conjured a dream, that if I had any talent in writing, I could have turned into a franchise lol

I actually saw part of that dream turned into a YouTube series, but mine was a lot more disturbing and creepy lol

So I finally got around to watching this and wow did they screw it up. The best parts of the book were trying to figure out what was going on, and here,  they basically just told us from jump.

But the biggest travesty was the ending. Why did they change it? It would have been groundbreaking to leave it as it was and have people deal with the reality of what will happen.

I liked the book ending better, and in the movie they turned it into a previous scheme the villain pitched to the WHO scientist.   I didn't like the ending in the movie at all.       I think the book ending was great, and better than murderous psycho attacks the world.

Also, I find it funny that every movie there's a different heroine, but they're never seen again, or mentioned in the next movie.

They've been showing Angels & Demons, followed by Inferno on the SYFY network recently, and I had to watch Inferno twice to figure out the plot, and follow the characters the way they were rewritten for the movie.
