Matthew Casey: Good Guy, Always Getting the Short End of the Stick

Despite his being a pretty upstanding guy, both career-wise and personally, Casey seems to get the negative outcome just about every time.

His mother murdered his father; he and his sister fell out over the situation. His fiancee was murdered; then Casey himself was nearly murdered, merely because he was trying to do his job honestly.

Now Casey is dealing with the aftermath of a serious brain injury, as well as a new girlfriend that he often can't seem to please no matter what he does.

He also lost out on being a surrogate father to his best friends kids.  (Which means he also suffered the death of his best friend.)  Really, in real life he would be in therapy in a basket.  Maybe it is all his early childhood trauma (implied- how great could it be growing up with that set of parents?) that makes him not see that Gabby it not good marriage material.  Love his causal good looks.  And Aussie Jesse is doing a great American accent (although he does not sound like Chicagoan to me).

Casey is my favorite and what drew me to the show, not having a Chicago accent does not bother me sometime it just doesn't happen, heck I was born and have lived in Massachusetts my whole life and I don't have the "Boston Accent" where people I grew up with in the same area have it thick.

Ohh, how could I forget the surrogate kids?! That just happened, and it had to have been incredibly traumatic -- not just for Casey, but the kids too. Imagine, having just started getting used to living with a family friend after your mom was sent to jail, which in turn was just after your dad's death, and then randomly having her come back to get you again. The very least that Heather could have done for the benefit of all was stuck around Chicago a while, so that the boys could slowly readjust to having her again and separating a bit from Casey. But no, she took them clear across the country, away from the people, school, city, etc. that they had always known.

As a tiny side nitpick, I've never understood why Jesse Spencer wasn't allowed to be an Australian, either on this show or on House before. For heaven's sake, it's the 21st century! People move easily all over the world, for various reasons. No one could have casually mentioned at some point that his character moved from Australia to the U.S. as a kid?

I thought that Dr. Chase on House was Australian.

It feels like the name of this thread is now more relevant than ever. So guys, what do you think of Casey's current whreabouts? What the hell happened to him and why was Katya in his apartment? Thoughts?

Yeah, you're probably right b/c Gabby should be the center of every damn storyline...but I'd love to see Severide to the rescue :) I hated to see them at odds over Rice. And I think Kelly should feel a little guilty that he didn't even know that his buddy Matt risked his life, trying to do the right thing. I'm really sorry that the show didn't give us much in terms of Sevasey bromance!

Anyway, if TPTB plan to resolve this story arc on Chicago PD, then I doubt we'll see any flashbacks at all...

I could be wrong, but it seems like if this was going to have crossover concerns it would have happened by now.

PD is focused on the downfall of Lindsay, there's no talk of the case Casey's working on at all.

I think they will deal with Casey's disappearance in the season premiere of PD in September b/c when NBC made the decision about the delayed start of CF, the final episodes of PD have already been filmed.

It's possible, but I doubt it.  Casey's case isn't a storyline on PD.   I think this storyline is completely Fire, with Voight and Antonio coming over and will be concluded solely on Fire...but we'll see.
