catrox14 April 2, 2014 Share April 2, 2014 I thought I would start some character threads and then we could come up with additional title descriptions. Here are some of my early thoughts -- The Man, The Coat, The Omnisexual, The Immortal-ish Link to comment
Captanne April 2, 2014 Share April 2, 2014 (edited) The Sexy Devil Himself. I adore Jack Harkness -- in every iteration from the leather wearing goofball from Doctor Who (Nine) to Miracle Day. My fave version of Jack in MD is when he was stalking Oswald through the Conference Centre because I always like it when Jack's dark side makes a rare appearance and grounds us to how long he's lived, what he's been through and the gaping future in front of him. ETA: My fave Jack-moment, though, in the entire canon is in "Adam" when he doesn't believe the machine that says Ianto is a murderer. The look of certainty he gives Ianto across that Voight-Kampff machine is breathtaking. Edited April 2, 2014 by Captanne Link to comment
ElleryAnne April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 Captanne, your favorite Jack moment is also mine. It's also from the episode that officially hooked me on the series. 1 Link to comment
catrox14 April 3, 2014 Author Share April 3, 2014 I have so many favorite Jack moments and I quite liked that moment you both mention. But I think my favorite Jack episode is "Immortal Sins" because we saw so many sides of him. And I think my favorite acting moment is when Jack is just destroyed after being tortured and killed and resurrected repeatedly in that butcher basement. Ugh. My heart. Link to comment
Swansong April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 I've never been a huge fan of Jack, but it did kind of bother me that there seemed to be a sense that he deserved to be punished for becoming immortal as if he chose to be that way. I can't imagine what terrible things he's supposedly done in his past to deserve having go through some of the stuff he's been put through. It gets kind of wearing just watching it. Link to comment
indeed April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 If only they would have spent more time exploring Jack's backstory on his own frickin' show... Link to comment
Captanne April 3, 2014 Share April 3, 2014 Jack does have a lot of "man-pain" moments, doesn't he? Ugh. My favourite scenes tend to be those that balance out the man-pain. I'm particularly fond of frightening/authoritative/cocky Jack. Frightening -- that scene in "Countrycide" when he's torturing the village idiot to get information. Authoritative -- when he was demanding that Owen not open the Rift. Cocky -- when Rhys got in his face and he looked around Rhys's face to say, "This is very homoerotic". Heh. (Another frightening moment was when he was stalking Oswald -- I've mentioned that before. Damn you, MD, for dropping that whole thread.) Link to comment
