I can see how you interpret the dynamics as you have. I, personally, haven't come to any conclusions about Laura other than she seems clinically depressed. I haven't watched episode 2 yet. Perhaps I'll find I'm wrong and think differently. I am not 100% sure Laura is cheating but here is why I suspect it: 1) She looked very distressed when she called the house. 2) She lied in her text message claiming she was "stuck in court" when she was actually in the hotel room. 3) Both sides of the double bed appeared to have been slept in. 4) She told Joe he could call the office to verify she was in court, when he gave no indication he doubted her. Guilty conscience? 5) She is still in the hotel room in the middle of the day while Joe and Sophie are bringing Anita home. What happened to court? 6) Matilda, who is very perceptive, is clearly resentful toward Laura and does not trust her. 2 Link to comment

Auntie Anxiety July 9, 2015 Share July 9, 2015 I thought Laura just didn't know how to be a wife or mother. Wasn't there some mention that both her parents died when she was young? And I thought the photo album was made up of Laura's pictures of her parents. The one shown said "Me and Mother, The Cotswolds." It's all probably very symbolic, that a human woman doesn't know how to show emotion and the synth does. 3 Link to comment

When Joe told her that he feels that she has been avoiding him and Matilda, she replied, "Things just get on top of me!" I like this speculation. I'll take it one step further—what if "things" means she's sleeping with a Synth? It puts a new spin on Tom's reply: "I know—that's why I want the Synth." Link to comment

When Joe told her that he feels that she has been avoiding him and Matilda she replied,"Things just get on top of me!" (That's what she said?) :) I took "Things just get on top of me" as an expression, meaning Laura was overwhelmed. You know, when people have too many obligations and miss out on certain fundamentals. I was wondering about the flashback in the forest but I was not surprised to learn that some of the synths were conscious/self-aware. At least Mia/Anita has it easier than poor Niska. I hope Leo can get Niska out of the brothel soon. Oh, George. At first I thought he really loved Odi but it turns out that what he really loves is having someone else who remembers his wife. I can't blame him for wanting to keep his synth around for that, but now I'm afraid that Odi is going to murder George in his sleep. I fear for Laura's safety too now that she's already suspicious of Anita. I hope poor Fred isn't in any pain while he's being studied. I know I'm going to be distracted by Gemma Chan's beautiful in every scene that she's in. Link to comment
