Of the characters and storylines we seem likely to see in S5, what are the ones you are most interested in?

Feel free to vote for more than one, but not more than two or three. Thanks!

Here are a bakers dozen to choose from...

  1. Tyrion + Varys: Sailing across the Narrow Sea to adventures and snark.
  2. Dany + the Dragons (as well as her court): Green and Red are getting a time-out; Where's Blackie?
  3. King Tommen and Margaery: And their much-reduced court. Who will be on the Small Council?
  4. Jon Snuh and the NW: Cold and hatless, they had their frostbitten asses saved by Stannis. What next for them and the King-Beyond-The-Wall?
  5. Bran and 3-Eyed Raven: With Hodor and Meera and one of the Children. More skeleton-smashing adventures ahead?
  6. Brienne + Pod: Can Brienne forgive him for losing sight of Arya? Will Pod learn to hobble a horse or skin a rabbit?
  7. Arya Stark: The Lil' Murder Princess, off to Braavos. Will she reunite with Jaqen, Syrio, or both?
  8. Jaime + Cersei: Will Jaime learn to fight as a lefty? Will Cersei drink all the wine in Dorne?
  9. Boltons + Reek: Will Winterfel stop being a smoking ruin in the opening credits? Will Roose learn to smile? Will Ramsay stop... nah, who cares, screw that guy.
  10. King Stannis + Co. Will Mel and Davos continue to be Stannis' yin and yang? What will the Rightful King of the Seven Kingdoms do now that he is in the North?
  11. Sansa + Littlefinger: Who is manipulating who? And where will they find a wet nurse for Robin?
  12. Jorah Mormont: Where can a twice-exiled knight pick up some work in Essos?
  13.  Other: Some characters and stories can be dropped like a flaming sword for multiple seasons (Benjen, where are you?). Are there some not mentioned that might be making a comeback? Or are you fascinated by FrankenMountain + Qyburn (for some reason)?

13.  Other:  Will Sam find a book in the NW library that will teach him wizardry? What about Sam Jr (not biological Jr) and Gilly?

Re: Stannis and Co.  If Mel has her way I wouldn't be surprised if The-King-Beyond-The-Wall will get to achieve his dream and be part of the "biggest bonfire the've ever seen" albeit as fuel.

Wow, is there any among us brave enough to vote for number 4?  Maybe an insomniac.  Between "All the interesting Crows except Sam are dead" and "Oh joy, more reasons for Jon to express and angst because he watched his love die", at least the shut-eye would be plentiful.

Plus, oh goody, he's teamed up with that giggle-fest of a man, Stannis.  Although, even I will grant Stannis "Cool at last, cool at last.  Thank gods and demons, Stannis did something cool at last" when he swarmed Mance Rayder's....raiders.   You know, thinking that over, I'm off to the Completely Unspoiled thread for a spot of "WTF, really?"

Oh I don't hate Stannis, Stumbler, I just find him quite dull most of the time.

Plus, I really never know what to do with people that seem to have no sense of humor.

But I'd kiss Stannis dead on the lips and build a shrine of gratitude to the man if he KILLS RAMSAY BOLTON.

Then I'd bend a knee, write him a tavern song and ....still keep him away from the matches, come to think of it.

Anothermi:

What would Mel gain from burning Mance?  He doesn't have "kings blood", he was elected K-B-T-W by the Free Folk.

When we first met her Mel was big on beach bonfires. Mostly folks who stubbornly wouldn't accept the Lord of Light as the One True God. Even members of Stannis' family were burned (an uncle or brother-in-law?).

Mance strikes me as a pragmatist and unlikely to be taken in by Mels' smoke & leeches. That's all it took for her to burn those others!

I presume Stannis could be convinced Mance had more value to him alive which is why I said "if Mel has her way".

#1 - smart midget and insightful eunuch

#2 - dragons

#4 - ice Zombies and well, Jon is kind of a cutie

Great description, AngelKitty (almost called you HelloKitty... Just No). Am I right that this is your 1st time on this forum? Did you post on TWoP under another user name we would know you by? (It's always nice to welcome back old friends.)

Regardless, Hail and Welcome! Help yourself to the grog (if there's any left).

Can we lump Walder Frey to this kill list?  How is that mo' fo' still alive?

I dig Stannis.. but I have to admit I\m very curious about Sansa and Littlefinger, awkward as their antics and friends may have been in the past, and where their individual careers and combined powers will go. I have no clue, is what I'm saying.

Anothermi, I did post with the same name on TWoP but not on Game of Thrones since I didn't have HBO then.  I binged the first 3 seasons and watched last year in real time.  Am anxious for it to start up again. And I'm all for the grog!

So, nobody gives dusty fuck about John Snow or the Bolton Bunch?

I feel like re-voting to give some love to JS + NW, because that includes Snuh (much improved last season) Sam + Gilly and her baby, Maester Aemon, Edd, etc.

Well, in fairness, the Night's Watch is mostly tripping the land invisible, if you get my "went on to meet their makers/lords of light/freaky face trees/King Root Dudes/the yawning chasm that is the nothing that awaits all in the Seven Kingdoms/Benjen Stark, wherever he may roam" drift.

So basically that option is "How much do you care about Jon Snore? Now that the majority of his friends are dead?  And so is Ygritte.  Sam's still around, do you care? He is over the 'always falls down in a crisis' mode, at least" choice.

As for Bolton and Reek, Stumbler, dude.   Reek and Bolton, Bolton and Reek.   The main interest lies in "Can they both please just die? Could they manage to shuffle off the mortal coil before either tracks down Rickon and slaughters the lot of them, while fashioning a not-friendship/merciless-antipathy bracelet and a hand-tooled clutch out of Osha?"

I mean...yeah.  "Let me see more of....wait, I've reconsidered." seems the prudent course of action.

I'm fairly certain that they are far less interesting than a dusty fuck, seeing as, although dusty, it would still be....well, you certainly get my point.

Ever since Theon yodeled like the Swiss Miss in the middle of blood sugar crash when his rescuer, in the form of Yara, the only living soul who gave a fuck of any sort about him showed up to save his whittled butt, he joined the "wow, too annoying to live" brigade for me.

I was looking to see what storylines we should be catching up with this Sunday when I remembered this...

anothermi: Re: Stannis and Co.  If Mel has her way I wouldn't be surprised if The-King-Beyond-The-Wall will get to achieve his dream and be part of the "biggest bonfire the've ever seen" albeit as fuel.

And you win one of the Biggest Spitballs The Wall Has Ever Seen awards. My little "yeah, right" to myself at the time I first read your speculation seems sort of pathetic now. Dammit, Mance! grrrrrrrr...

So this Sunday - Tommen, Bran, Arya, Boltons, and... ?

Yeah but....  I didn't think it would actually happen!

Thank you for the award.  Why I feel so hollow inside? :-(

We already know what happened to Benjen though, basically.

Lord Commander Mormont at the end of the first season:  "We will find Benjen Stark, or die trying!"

They all died trying.  Basically, if they ever find Benjen, he better have the mother of all explanations for where the fuck he has been since God was a boy and dirt newborn.

At this point Benjen's either successfully tunneled his way into another fantasy series and is all, "Cool! Wizards and Sprites! This is MUCH better...and spring-like.  Here I be, and here I stay.  Seven Kingdom Suckahs!"

Or he's dead.  Dead.  Dead.  Deadinski.  Mormont found him on the other side and was just all, "Oh my friggin' seven gods, dude, the hell?  Next time make sending a raven your last act?  Do you have any damned idea how much trouble you caused just by going missing? If we weren't all already deader than hell, I would kill your Stark ass."

Gendry is somewhere inventing hair dye and colored contacts, just in case.

S6E10: So Long, Farewell

Benjen: Well met, Jon! Gods, you look good in black! Have I got a story to tell. Did I miss much? Nice valeryian steel sword, that is, but why are you pointing it at me? Jon? JON?!?

Jon: Stick them with the pointy end.
