Actionmage March 18, 2015 Share March 18, 2015 Malcolm Goodwin plays this new-from-Vice cop. Let's discuss! Link to comment
Actionmage March 25, 2015 Author Share March 25, 2015 I agree with the recap that the cliché of "The wife always does it", wrt murder, is tiresome, especially since not all the time. ( Way to generalize, Clive.) So I was disappointed when it was Lola. Considering that was my only problem with Clive this week, that's not bad. I mean he had Liv, a.k.a. Ms. Moore, a.k.a. Horny Cop, to hose down in The Box. Then he awesomely just punched the same dude for sleazing on Liv. I'm okay with Clive thinking Liv's a psychic for a little longer, but I want him to know before the season's out. Unless this season's really teeny. Malcolm Goodwin? Keep looking good, sir! 2 Link to comment
Julia March 27, 2015 Share March 27, 2015 I agree with the recap that the cliché of "The wife always does it", wrt murder, is tiresome, especially since not all the time. ( Way to generalize, Clive.) So I was disappointed when it was Lola. I thought that part was kind of clever. There's equally as strong a cliché in genre savvy shows that since everyone thinks it's always the spouse, and someone generally says it's always the spouse and focuses the investigation on the spouse, the outside-the-box detective always proves that it wasn't the spouse. I liked that they played with both of those. 2 Link to comment
FurryFury March 27, 2015 Share March 27, 2015 I think it's almost impossible to create a really unpredictable and complex crime plot. All of them are cliched to an extent, simply because a crime procedural is such an overused format. Personally, I was sure that the wife did it after Babineaux repeated this phrase twice. A classic double subversion. Link to comment
Sakura12 March 27, 2015 Share March 27, 2015 I didn't mind it being the spouse in this case, (because being on tv it's always the most recognizable actor). They did have Clive so sure it was the wife then Ravi texted him telling him the blow came from a higher angle. Then Liv made fun of him saying he must have a second really tall wife. So Clive had to redirect his suspicions elsewhere. Even if if did end up being the wife, they helped Clive see that it might not be the wife. Crime shows have been on tv for years, every subterfuge or twist has already been done 100x over. The only they can do is make it somewhat interesting and make the characters second guess their original thought. Which this show did. 1 Link to comment
Julia March 27, 2015 Share March 27, 2015 See, again, I enjoyed that. First she subverted the it's always the wife trope, which is practically a trope of its own now. Then they subverted that. I thought it was a neat twist. 1 Link to comment
Actionmage June 10, 2015 Author Share June 10, 2015 I hope that Clive is Ticket #1 on the Opening Up the Circle of Trust train. Major is going to have to come up with some amazing story that will make him not a cop killer or the gang will have to bring Clive in. Maybe Suzuki's prints on the weapons will "help" Clive believe. editorgrrl June 10, 2015 Share June 10, 2015 I floved Malcolm Goodwin's "WTF?!" faces in episode 12, when Liv ate cheerleader brains then stoner brains. By season's end, Clive was the only one in the dark about zombies. (Well, other than Liv's mom & brother.) But he better put 2 + 2 together if Lt. Suzuki's not dead. He suspects Major was involved with the torching of Meat Cute. 1 Link to comment
