CletusMusashi March 12, 2015 Share March 12, 2015 (edited) This is an old game that was popular on TWOP. Enough time has gone by that there is not only a new generation of fans, but there have also been a hell of a lot of new shows since then. All you do is pick a TV show and see how closely you can line its characters up with those from Buffy. Explanations are optional. In this post, I'll clarify the first one, and then let the more obvious fits speak for themselves. Example: Buffy = Futurama: Willow is a genius, capable of acheiving many strange and wondrous things. She is also a bit power-mad, and her abilities cause as many problems as they solve. Willow is Professor Hubert Farnsworth. Buffy is Touranga Leela. Xander is Phillip J. Fry. Giles is Hermes Conrad. Cordelia is Amy Wong. Anya is Bender Bending Rodriguez. Clem is Dr. John A. Zoidberg. Oz is Nibbler. Dawn is Cubert Farnsworth. Glory is Mom. Olaf is Lrrr, Ruler of Omicron Persei 8. And Spike, of course, especially in seasons 5 and 6, is obviously Zap Brannigan. What has everybody else got? Edited March 13, 2015 by CletusMusashi Link to comment
Jack Shaftoe March 13, 2015 Share March 13, 2015 (edited) Warehouse 13 Willow is Claudia. Hacker, redheaded, wicked-smart. Xander is Pete. Brave to the point of stupidity, great friend, tells a lot of jokes.Giles is Artie.Tara is Leena. Spike is HG Wells is (though HG is much cooler and hotter, she is better at any temperature, actually). The one time I actually want an ensemble darkhorse to hijack a show, it didn't happen. Riley is Steve. Buffy is Myka. Probably the worst match of it all, as Myka is more or less half Willow, half Buffy. Edited March 13, 2015 by Jack Shaftoe 1 Link to comment
wendyg May 25, 2015 Share May 25, 2015 Buffy on MAD MEN: Buffy: Joan Holloway Harris. Self-righteous, dictatorial, likes to be in charge, but also feels burdened by circumstances no one else can understand. Willow: Peggy Olson. Smart, obsessed, insecure, and always in the shadow of her attention-grabbing cohort. Xander: Ken Cosgrove. Guys who make things work - and lose an eye for the cause. Giles: Don Draper. Mentor, part-parent, improvisational genius. Angel: Don Draper. It's as if he were two people. Cordelia: Roger Sterling. Always ready with the truthy quip. Dawn: Megan Calvet Draper. Because of course. Oz: Bert Cooper. Witty, sophisticated, possessors of The Knowledge. Spike: Pete Campbell. We may disagree how evil Pete ever was, but he winds up with new empathy - and it looks far better on him than it ever did on Spike. Jonathan: Harry Crane. Starts a nebbish, ends a creep. Joyce: Betty Draper. Mothers with sad ends. Riley: Abe. The heroine's 2nd boyfriend that no one liked. Wesley: Stan. The buffoon who grows into a mensch, although Wesley mostly did it on another show. Anya: Bobby Draper. Seemed like a different person every week. The girl with the baseball bat: Sally. For they shall inherit the earth. 1 Link to comment
Spartan Girl June 7, 2015 Share June 7, 2015 How about Agents of SHIELD? Coulson: Giles Skye: Buffy May: Combination of Buffy and Faith Simmons: Willow Fitz: Oz. I know a lot of you would say he's more like Xander but Fitz is WAY smarter... Ward: Spike/Angelus. I also think he's a bit like Xander in the way he seems to take joy in pointing out everyone else's shortcomings, though at least Xander was nowhere near as delusional (or psychotic). Cal/Dr. Johnson: The Mayor Link to comment
Joe Hellandback November 21, 2018 Share November 21, 2018 Just watching Sabrina, the ep where she makes a student horror film and accidentally hires a real vampire, very Buffy (and Matrix like) Sabrina as a cheerleader slaying the undead. They should have called her character 'Sarah'. Link to comment
