just love how he's not vain about his appearance. He's been in this shirt on at least three other occasions I have pictures from :)

that puppy is so adorable. I wonder if he's considering getting a dog again. 'I'm never home!'

Loooove the red suit ensemble.  The pants are divine, I won't lie.  Wonder if it will be like some of his other articles of clothing that he latches onto and wears relentlessly.  I'll bet people stare at him wherever he goes -- he's twice the size of most of them and in red, he stands out like a beacon in that red suit.

His penchant for trying on everything is perfect for this trip.  The kimono is great and the geta on his long feet are cracking me up.

Saw a little clip on Instagram where he is being served this pile of colorful noodle-looking stuff surrounded by schmears of sauces.  He said it tasted "like a beautiful sunset."  It was funny because it was only him at the table, not like a dinner and nothing to drink.  I wonder what was going on.  I think maybe he's a little picky -- he said on the web series Munchies with Andy Whatshisname that he was "afraid" of seafood.

Regarding Spencer Reid and S12 and what some of us may want for him before the series ends, I've (nicely and respectfully) tweeted Erica a couple of times asking for him to be given a romantic relationship before the plane disappears into the clouds one last time. I know not everyone agrees, but if you do, please consider tweeting as well. It's nearly time for my monthly tweet to her about it but I was hoping I could recruit some others to join me

Not That it will help one whit but at least she will see some folks are invested in Reid's potential for happiness.

Droogie I want some happiness for Reid as much as anyone but I sure as hell wouldn't trust Erica Messer and the current writers to deliver it! I'd rather they left it than give us the same sort of dreck we saw with Rossi last season! I'd rather just see Reid continue to be the mature and confident agent we saw a little of at the end of the season and they make more of his unique talents. If they make him all wibbly over missing Morgan I will go ballistic!

I will go ballistic as well!  And I don't trust the writers to do it well, but they're all I have, and I will be troubled if the series ends with Spencer still all alone.

I agree with you on this, Droogie. Seeing Spencer happily and healthily in a loving romantic relationship (other than the 'family' relationships he has with his teammates), has always been my visualized endgame for him. For better or worse, these writers are what we've got, so here's hoping they'll make it happen this year. Maybe the new writers will show him some much-needed attention, too.

there's been a little bit of talk on social media etc about Reid missing Morgan. But what I noticed when reading was that there was *Garcia* missing Morgan too...maybe THAT will be what the 'antagonism toward the new guy' is all about, it would make more sense. Cause Reid is past that kind of behaviour at this point in his life and if they dumb him down and make him all 'You're not Morgan!' wah wah wah, I will throw a brick through the Samsung.

It's funny...cause back in the Maeve days, Matthew was dead set against Reid being 'happily involved in a longterm relationship'. He campaigned for it to end tragically which was where Breen and Erica wanted it to go too.

But in the last couple years, every time a fan or writer or media type has asked him about it, he claims he wants Reid to have a love interest. That's what Shemar wanted for his character and he got it. There should be equal acquiescence IMHO. If Matthew wants his character to have a gf/lover/wife he should get the same kind of treatment (yikes, save the torture storyline, that's unnecessary) Shemar got.

I ain't holding my breath. (And I had it all figured out. Let him get married, have a couple happy episodes and if they wanna do the heartache/tragedy thing, let the newly married Reids have trouble conceiving. Then have a miscarriage or some such. And save the very final episode of the series for a finally successful pregnancy. Is this too much to ask?)

*grumble whine bitch moan*

I hope they don't go there with Garcia. I can see her being over at Morgan and Savannah's house all the time, ostensibly to help with Hank Spencer, so missing him at work might seem a bit much even for her. Agree that they won't have Spencer be a jerk to the new guy, probably, so maybe it's the new guy that is being a jerk to the team? Whatever they do, I'm thinking it will be Hotch that sets the tone.

I picture him being all 'I know this stuff better than you' (in the fugitive recapture PoV here....) in which case I could see Reid--indeed, ANY one of the current members--not liking him initially. And yeah, Hotch-perhaps with some backup from Rossi-could put dude in his place.

as long as it's not done with that undertone of Reid and/or Garcia being whiny little bitches about how 'he's not Morgan'....

In my head-canon, MGG is just as dissatisfied as we are with Reid's lack of a life outside of the office. If nothing else, he could have just changed his mind, since the Maeve storyline was four years ago. If the show ends after this season, I think he would want his signature character to walk into the sunset with the likelihood that he'll be happy when its over.

I am pretty sure that the story Matthew signed on for with regards to Maeve ended very differently than it actually did. No way did he advocate for Reid to watch Maeve get shot in the head in front of him. The original ending was sad, but not so over the top unnecessary and tragic than what the writers ultimately chose. I can see Matthew having second thoughts about the actual ending for that story arc.

Agreed, FA.  My understanding is that Maeve was always going to die, and MGG said well ok, if that's the case, then it has to be in the most tragic way possible.  Hence, the horrible Zugzwang

He has said since at least S5 that he would like Reid to have a girlfriend/relationship.

Exactly. Matthew was excited about the idea that they would never meet (hell, in Breen's original idea, the audience would never know what she looked like), and it would be like tragic, star crossed lovers. However the network said that they could kill Maeve, but the audience had to see her first. So with Breen's original idea nixed, he changed it to the god awful one we got. It was not Matthew's idea to shoot Maeve in the head in front of Reid.

They could have just as well kept the original concept of the story line. Which if I understand it had Maeve already dead. And a distraught Reid asking his team to help investigate what happened. Maeve then could have been shown in flashbacks as the BAU was doing it's investigation.

They absolutely could have had a similar story, but told in flashbacks like you suggested. That way, the audience would still get to see Maeve like the network directed, but it would have prevented the exceedingly cruel ending to this story arc. CBS didn't tell them to end the story the way they did; that was a choice made by the writers and producers. I think the outcry would have been LESS if they had gone that route, instead of the near universal angry backlash that ensued.

geezuz, this makes it even WORSE than I already found it to be! *blech*

The whole Maeve story line had such promise and ended in such a detestable way with Zugzwang, and I don't like the other idea that much either. The possibility of Spencer finding love with a smart, kind and compassionate woman filled me with  joy, but was ruined thanks to the idiocy of the producers and writers.

Thank goodness for fan fiction. I shared a fan fic idea with ReidFan, which she likes, but I don't know when I'll get the time to actually work on it. I have other writing projects that are keeping me busy, including writing marketing materials for my church's film committee. I'm a member.

And on a more positive notes: I think Matthew looks adorable in his specs.

I can understand Japanese. So, because MGG just went to Japan, I wondered if there are some Tweets or other written things like interviews anybody wants me too translate from Japanese into English.

There are lots of positive Tweets from fans who met him!

As for Criminal Minds, what are your hopes for Reid in season 12? I just want him to be geniuslike again...

a couple of his fansites/fans from Japan have tweeted screen captures of a Japanese language magazine that did an article on him. I wish THAT would get translated to English.

I love Spencer, always have, and his growth arc is endlessly interesting to me, even though they do retard it sometimes and it frustrates me no end. One episode he'll be wise/brave/noble, the next ep he can barely focus enough to form words. He's still my favorite character on any contemporary show.

Matthew? I'm getting a little bored of his "I'm five years old" act. He can do better, really. He's immensely talented, and a skilled director. I'm looking forward to seeing what he does once he realizes he's an adult.

Franky, thanks for bringing this up. Note that I mentioned Matthew's somewhat immature antics may amuse me, but they also bemuse me, meaning they often bewilder me. This is a man getting close to forty and his Peter Pan act can wear a little thin at times. For the most part, Matthew utterly charms me with his vast talent as an actor, director and visual artist, and this why I continue to be fan. But then there are times when I want to shake him and say, "Matthew, make yourself more not less."

For the most part, I don't know how much of his "I'm five years old" act is truly him or just some weird facade he puts on. Sometimes I detect a bit of insecurity in him, which might influence some of his choices. But when I see him emoting as the Spencer I adore, the wise, brave and noble Spencer, I know he is a man of depth, insight and graciousness, and I hope Matthew embraces this aspect of him as he gets older.

And embracing these qualities doesn't mean he has to give up wearing mismatched socks. loving Halloween or combing his hair with an egg beater.
