S01.E05: Hello, Fisty’s

I forgot how much I love it when Matt Bomer sings. There were things I expected in this episode; Matt Bomer singing was not one of them but I certainly enjoyed it. I forgot how wonderful his voice is. It was so wistful at the end of the Jerry/Mason storyline. I think Jerry wants to believe that Mason will not repeat his own story and will have a happily ever after but he knows how difficult/unlikely it is.

Even though Jerry has left the church and has a complicated relationship with God and religion, it's easy to see how his time in the church shaped his worldview and continues to have a significant impact on his personality.

I also enjoyed Arthur meeting his mini-me/getting to see the ghost of Christmas Past.

None of the three got what they wanted/expected but each got what they needed most.

I wish that Jerry had told Mason that it's not fair to his fiancée to marry her when he's not attracted to her.  He mentioned that Mason's future could include returning to Fire Island for hookups and losing access to any child, but not the unfairness to the future wife.

It's possible she either knows or suspects and thinks she can change him or that if he really loves her he'll change. Neither one is going to happen but love makes you stupid.

Yes, I was pretty angry neither of them had any thoughts about the wife. Jerry didn't express any regrets for what he did to his ex-wife, and neither of them included her in their calculations of what Mason should do.

We don't know that he is not attracted to her as they have never had sex.

I suppose.  I will amend my statement to "I wish that Jerry had told Mason that it's not fair to his fiancée to marry her when he's extremely/exclusively attracted to men, and has been cheating on her during their engagement, and cannot guarantee that he will not continue to do so during their marriage."
