Snazzy Daisy March 25 Share March 25 Quote Sybil helps Arthur get a job as a personal shopper. At a casino, Jerry tries to get tickets to a Donny Osmond concert, while Bunny negotiates with a pit boss for money he feels he lost unfairly. ItCouldBeWorse March 28 Share March 28 Are concert tickets at casinos not sold online? Maybe buy one first, then go stand on the in-person ticket line for the fun of it. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8619280
Sarah 103 March 28 Share March 28 I'm curious if the age difference between Jerry and his new roommates is going to come up again with something more significant. It could be something interesting to explore. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8619706
EtheltoTillie March 29 Share March 29 The clothing store scenes were great. I like that they’re having great guest stars each episode. 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8620243
Sarah 103 March 30 Share March 30 Arthur could make a fortune without working for an actual store. Charge women a flat rare ($X per hour) to give them a honest opinion of what they are thinking about buying and also make suggestions on what they should buy. He makes money whether they buy something or not and it doesn't matter what they buy. He makes the same fee if they buy a $200 dress or a $2,000 dress. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8620636
Snazzy Daisy March 31 Author Share March 31 (edited) Sybil in that “toilet brush” dress! 🤣 I like seeing sassy Arthur in his fashion mode. The Donny Osmond fiasco with Jerry is painfully cringey. 😬 My favorite lines from Sybil: Quote “You might be able to fool your friends but your elbows know. Oh believe me, they know.” 😆😆😆 Edited March 31 by Snazzy Daisy 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8621883
Blakeston April 1 Share April 1 Arthur is clearly based on Andre Leon Talley (Anna Wintour’s #2 at Vogue, and the inspiration for Stanley Tucci’s character in The Devil Wears Prada). The idea that anyone with a career like his would be reduced to working at some random Palm Springs shop is pretty silly. 1 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8622882

He was on the outs from Vogue and was in reduced circumstances. Yes it’s a fictional version of what happened, but he was living on borrowed money. Harvey April 4 Share April 4 Haha. The "my husband won't let me eat at home" line was really funny. Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152593-s01e02-working-girls/#findComment-8625783

After Talley left Vogue, he wrote his memoir, had a radio show, and continued to work in the industry. He was never anywhere close to working as some shop assistant, and he never would.
