surfgirl March 25 Share March 25 (edited) Most of S01 I felt badly for MA. She was being used as a broodmare for her mother's power ambitions. But somewhere in this episode I started feeling colder towards good ole MA. She's sort of an idiot isn't she? I mean, how hard is it to see that she's being taken advantage of by Yolande, and she keeps treating Lamballe like crap abd she's really the most loyal person in MAs life. Grrrr. It's odd that she abd Louis seem to lead separate loves yet she's popping out babies so they must be doing the old 'royal conjugation' here and there. All in all, not as satisfying as S01 thus far. And I find Provence such a tedious character. Oh! Is the lady living in squalor, who is trying to pick pockets at Versailles, and who wants to steal that necklace, is she the former girlfriend/whore of Louie's father? CAM March 25 Share March 25 (edited) Looks like the main plot line for this season will be the "Affair of the Diamond Necklace", will be interesting to see how the show handles it. 7 hours ago, surfgirl said: Oh! No, I'm sure that is going to be Spoiler Jeanne de Valois-Saint-Rémy aka Jeanne de la Motte One of the key figures, instrumental in the above mentioned scandal. BradandJanet March 30 Share March 30 MA is shown as having a good heart regarding the poor. However, she is completely adrift in the goings on at Versailles. The king is just as bad if not worse since he's in charge. Of course this isn't going to end well. Versailles is a huge rooming house filled with aristocratic freeloaders. 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/152545-s02e01-the-worst-winter/#findComment-8620867
chaifan April 12 Share April 12 (edited) I'm glad this show is back. I honestly don't care about the story lines, I just love the scenery. The palace shots are just amazing! Can anyone explain to me how the pickpocket/thief lady is so easily able to get in Versailles and into the same mass as the King and Queen? She's not dressed shabbily, but certainly not to the standards of the court. She said to the guard "Do you know who I am?", but is she actually someone or was that just the standard bluff? I love how it's 10 years later, and everyone looks the same. Edited to add: one weird observation... I'm watching this on PBS streaming. I noticed swear words were blanked out. I also had cc on, and there were **** instead of the words. When did PBS start editing/censoring bad words?
