S03.E08: I THOUGHT YOU'D NEVER SHUT UP

Recommended Posts

Geez, maybe taking a guy's name (after you previously took his DNA without his consent to create your own clone body, by the way) isn't something you should announce at his funeral.

Obviously Mark is going to blow a gasket when he finds out Cecil is turning the dead Invincibles into ReAnimen and keeping Conquest alive, but the former move is justifiable.  We just saw what would happen if some Viltrimites attacked, and Earth got lucky with Levy ditching the 8 survivors.  If they were still around Earth would have no chance.

Missed last week that Jeffery Dean Morgan was playing Conquest, but you can definitely tell here because he was busting out some Negan-style monologues this go around!  At least things fared a little better for Steven Yeun character this go around, but it was still a pretty rough outing for him.  And, of course, it all ends with Cecil secretly keeping him alive to try and get more info.  I tend to defend some of your questionable moves, Cecil, but I won't be surprised if this ends badly for everyone, buddy.

Figured Eve wasn't going to get taken out for good, but that was still an intense moment for a few minutes.  But it basically sounds like whenever she is in real danger, her body gains the ability to actually rebuild itself?  Not a bad backup plan, but it sounds like it will be painful to get to that moment.  And I'm guessing that final shot of Mark's suit melting after she used her powers on it might be hinting that reincarnation can effect her abilities going forward.

Rudy... sorry, "Rex" somehow making a funeral even more awkward than normal.

The bodycount has to be worse than the fight between Nolan and Mark in S1, right?  Looked like entire cities were being leveled here.  This universe has to suck for non-heroes.

Darkblood seems to be coming back into play.  Alongside a Demon voiced by Bruce Campbell!

Battle Beast is still kicking around!

Surprised we didn't check back in on Nolan and Allan.  Despite J.K. Simmons still being billed as a regular, they really didn't use him much this season.

I guess ending the episode with Mark declaring he will kill to protect those he love is suppose to be hinting at him slipping into a darker side, but considering how everything turns out, I kind of don't blame him right now.

Heard the wait for next season won't be as long, as its suppose to come back in 2026.  That's good to hear.

Definitely agree Conquest was pulling out the Neganisms.  I didn't know it was Jeffrey Dean Morgan going into it, but it didn't take long to realize it.

Atom Eve said that she could rearrange Conquest's molecules, and I kept wondering why she was wasting time fighting him she could have done that.  You know she was going to get pulverized eventually.  Turns out she couldn't do it after all, because she had mental blocks installed when she was younger.  Too bad, because that would have probably made Eve the most powerful hero on the planet.  Shades of Jean Grey.

Not a lot of regret from Mark at leveling whole cities and killing more bystanders a mere ep or two after he had a meltdown over it. Nor any overt attempt to take the battle away from the cities.

I really don't understand Mark's powers, or how they match up against bad guys. He gets his butt kicked often, and then somehow wins, by only being marginally angry. This is like old kung fu movies, where a blow might barely faze someone and then the same blow 30 seconds later knocks them unconscious.

So Mark's uni was melting? Thanks, I didn't understand what was happening there.

Did anyone say why none of the other Guardians showed up to help Mark and Eve? The fight was broadcast on TV.

This is one the biggest problems I have with the show. His power level is so inconsistent just to make fights last longer. For me it reminds me of old Hulk Hogan wrestling matches and those were ridiculous even as a kid.
